Kill me for I like this new disgusting episode. I was expecting I would be wishing for Penny to be prosecuted here but I found her less annoying than after reading the taping report.

agree, I loved it. She did came acrross as annoying to me, but truth be told, I was expecting worst.

Nevertheless. I don't like her right now. At all. Other than her, I loved the episode.

I did not like this episode when I read the taping report, lo those many weeks ago. Having seen the episode, I like it even less. Hewolf says it better than I have the patience for......

That being said, I am spoiled up to episode 6. There is a general concensus (among spoil-ees) that they are doing a "fix Penny" story arc. in my opinion, they are going about it in an odd way, but at this point I will grasp at any straw.

So this episode is "setting the stage" for events to come. Hope that's not too much of a spoiler.

agreed. I guess the reason why I liked the episode in my case is because I mentally programed myself to absolutely ignore Penny, because if I wasn't I couldn't take it. I would really start to hate her and I don't want to. I skipped her as I rewatched the episode last night, so I guess that's why I'm liking the episode.

After seeing this episode I am, to borrow a prominent member’s screen name, Disgusted.

I gave the episode a good rating on the poll based upon the acting and the fact that it contained some laugh out loud moments. Once again my, much better, significant other stated after the show ended, “That seemed like a strange episode.” My disgust is based upon the following:

This is exactly the L/P stupidity that I hoped we wouldn’t see any more of from Penny. Instead, they are ramping it up to a new level of ignorance. This entire internal conflict of Penny’s is made up and unnecessary. She says Leonard is a great guy and she knows he loves her. Does she love him? She says yes. She says she’s not sure. We now have Schrodinger’s Relationship! Holy crap on a cracker! This is absurd. Who do they have writing this, an adolescent girl? Leonard would be better off without this woman. Break them up and ship her pathetic butt back to Nebraska. She can move onto her next career; cooking up meth with a baby on her hip…

Whatever they do with them, do not break them up and then show Penny hanging around the guy’s apartment mooching food like nothing has changed. Some folks keep talking about conflict being part of relationships and telling others to stop griping about them writing reality into the L/P situation. Here’s some reality for you: People that break up with someone that loves them for no reason, causing the other person a lot of hurt and pain, do not get invited to go hang out with that person and his friends like nothing ever happened. Played out realistically, Penny would be persona non grata with Leonard and his friends. Amy and Bernadette might continue to hang with her, but Howard, Raj and especially Sheldon would not. If she breaks up with Leonard, again, he should look her dead in the eye and tell her they are through. That he is done with trying to make something happen with her and that she needs to get on with her life and he will do the same.

They also have Sheldon successfully keeping a secret from Leonard. This is something we know he is totally incapable of doing. “When I try to keep a secret I have more nervous tics than a Lyme disease research facility.” Sheldon cannot keep secrets! Must be Sheldon 2.0… On that subject, Sheldon is still not right. The tone in his voice is wrong. His facial expressions are different and it’s all just off. It almost seems as if Jim Parsons has stopped trying to play Sheldon; and, instead, Jim Parsons is playing Jim Parsons in the role of Sheldon Cooper. Still funny to watch but it is not the Sheldon he played for four and half seasons.

To top it off we have Howard stuck in nerd hell. He’s being bullied and has no way of escape. Something that should have been a triumphal moment and achievement in his life is being turned into ninth grade gym class. Much ado has been made on this forum about how Leonard humiliated Sheldon professionally by manipulating his experiment in the Arctic Circle. At least there isn’t a nine minute YouTube video to preserve the moment for prosperity. Then, they humiliate him in front of his wife. Great job of portraying astronauts as having the ‘right stuff’! The producers of this show claim their objective is to celebrate the beautiful minds of these characters. Add this to the Speckerman episode and it makes me wonder if their true objective hasn’t devolved to making fun of these characters. At what point have they ever portrayed any of the guys as getting the better of one of these bullies? Kurt took Leonard and Sheldon’s pants. Kurt bullied Leonard at Penny’s party. Kurt wrote on Leonard’s forehead with a permanent marker (and then went on a date with Penny). Speckerman chased Leonard and Sheldon out of their own apartment. Howard is being bullied by astronauts. They’re doing a fantastic job celebrating – bullies!

In conclusion, this probably just became the third episode on my ‘won’t watch that one again’ list. The humor just doesn’t trump the storyline. It joins season three’s The Wheaton Recurrence when Penny publicly humiliates Leonard and dumps him for saying he loves her; and season five’s The Speckerman Recurrence where Leonard and Sheldon are run out of their own apartment by a bully.

But, there’s a new episode next week and there’s always hope it will be better than this one…

I agree. I think they've painted themselves into a corner with L/P. They've got to resolve it one way or another. I don't really care which way they go with it but it's become a Ross/Rachel never-ending angst storyline. But does anyone really doubt they'll get together in the end?

Looks like they'll pair-up Raj & Stuart now that Howard has been neutered. Could be interesting.

It was an OK episode. Sheldon was very funny.

I have heard numerous people state that "Leonard and Penny are endgame." I find their faith in Chuck Lorre and the writers, who gave us Raj/Penny sleep over, Drunk Penny, Slutty Penny, Ball-less Leonard, whipped Howard, etc., quite touching.

To reply to what you erased, That usually happens to me when they run out of arguments. That kind of thing shows you are getting to them. :icon_twisted:

Just watched it & boy, did I enjoy watching this episode. Far better than last week!

Amy had some great one liners that made me laugh out loud...am starting to warm up to her. Adorable moment with Sheldon in Penny's bedroom asking her not to hurt his friend. Loved his remark about the Roommate agreement review...

Was hoping Howard would grow some backbone in space but alas. LMAO in the last segment with Bernie...brilliant move from the writers!

The L/P situation is a nasty one...it seems that Penny is wanting to grow up from her antics in the beginning & am wondering how this will end. Leonard's puppy face was....I don't know...a bit much although it evolved their story line. Hewolf described it a bit as how I feel about it. Their relationship had soo many ups & downs it's about time it gets stable or make them quit imo...

Speaking of Penny -- I have not been able to rewatch the episode yet -- there was something she said to sheldon last night that caught me off guard and did not seem like something she would say to sheldon. Bear with me, I can't remember right now, but did she say that he was weird? I have to go back to watch it, but I remember that it was kind of a bully remark that she made to sheldon after he woke her up. I was surprised by that -- yes, he shouldn't have been in her room and woke her up -- but she knows sheldon, and very well, and at this point in their relationship, I was surprised she talked to him that way. What happened to the mothering penny?

I thought the  episode was very good.

Jim does seemed a bit off but never the less did a great job showcasing so many of Sheldon'  different traits in one episode.  Sheldon had so many notable scenes..chatting at the movies w/ Amy,... struggling to keep a secret and the Transformers bit w/ Leonard....the bedroom w/Penny.   The "don't hurt my friend" line was incredibly sincere, and heartwarming.

Amy...they did a good job hiding Mayim cast.  I really like this version of Amy; more subdued yet occasionally crude...."the loins on fire...in a good way, not the urinary tract infection way".

Leonard did a great job being clueless,  had sex with Penny, and didn't get kicked in the teeth. Yah!

Howard was fine, but didn't care for him getting bullied.   It's time for Bernadette to be "the very vengeful person with access to weaponized smallpox" and revenge her Sexy BuzzLight Year.

Haven't been a pro Penny for awhile.  But  I'm glad the writers realized their previous attempt(s) at keeping the L /P saga going has fubar'd Penny to the point of disdain for both the character (and L/P saga) and are working hard on fixing it.

Yes... very bully comment and very surprised she said that.

It didn't strike me as bullying--and if you think about it, he is a weirdo. It's no worse than siblings griping at each other. He broke into her apartment (and he did that way back in the 2nd episode, didn't he?) to talk to her in the middle of the night. Partly about Leonard, but also about her shampoo...

He didn't seem hurt by it, he didn't seem to bat an eyelash at it. The guys are always telling Sheldon he's crazy, he's acting crazy, etc. It seems to roll right off his back.

To me, it just struck me as a fairly natural response to the situation.

This was such an adorable episode! I have to say I liked it much better than the premiere, though the Shamy date scene won my heart in that. But I didn't really watch the episode on repeat.

This one I can't stop watching. The main reason being that Jim/Sheldon was completely on fire. He did seem so much like the 'old Sheldon' again, in his behavior and body language - it's hard to explain - but at the same time, one has to be awed at the tremendous amount of emotional growth in him since the season 2 premiere (the immediate comparison that comes to mind).

'Please don't hurt my friend' made me tear up; it's the most searingly sincere and human sentiment we've ever heard from Sheldon till now. And even being a Shamy shipper, I'm so glad it was for Leonard.. these two share a special bond. They're the heart of the TBBT universe.

And apart from this, it was just so FUNNY! It's been a while since I've cracked up and ROFL-ed so often in a TBBT episode. Sheldon's sparring with Stuart, his struggle to keep a secret (this time because he cares), the guys' skype conversation with Howard, and most of all, two utterly priceless scenes - Leonard/Sheldon going back and forth about Transformers, and Sheldon in Penny's bedroom. Such a perfect mix of hilarious and touching - it's only sometimes that they get the mix so right. I loved the knocking, I loved everything about them.. I hadn't even realized how much I had missed seeing some great funny Leonard/Sheldon and Sheldon/Penny moments.

I didn't feel that interested in the space bullying storyline, but I enjoyed it much more than the Howard/Berrnadette/mom drama last week. Simon did very well, and the scene in which he's unaware of his cat face had me in splits.

The girl chemistry was awesome too. They need to have more scenes in which Amy and Bernie make faces together!

Regarding Leonard/Penny, I confess that the liveliness of the rest of the episode overshadowed their storyline, for me. So I won't comment about them, apart from hoping that they work on Penny's obvious issues over the rest of the season.

Last, but not the least - Sheldon and Amy. Their sweet little scene in the movie theater had some warm and lovely chemistry going. Glad to see a proper conversation between them again, and not just about their relationship. Also glad to see that Sheldon seemed quite comfortable with holding on to Amy's hand, albeit outwardly protesting. :)

Yes... very bully comment and very surprised she said that.

Well, if someone came right into my bedroom at 2 a.m. and woke me up and frightened my wits out of me, I can imagine myself saying 'weirdo' or something similar. :) I think that anyway such comments must be the most natural thing in the world to Sheldon by now. And he knows Penny from 5 years.

Really? So, if this series last 10 seasons, we're going to see the back and forth continue again and again. Any bets on how many times the producers will break them up before finally bringing them together for good?!

You were expecting worse. Now that's what producers want to read! Viewers expecting something really bad -- and, ehh... it wasn't that bad.

i think the penny character has ran its course. with the other two ladies and the guys all being very smart its like bully up on the dumb blonde. at best her character can stay with leonard and still be the odd one out. if they break up again what use could her character have outside going after raj. i read where wil wheaton comes back maybe she hooks up with him and develops a new side but who knows. this is just my opinion and it might not be the right one but its mine none the less

Penny went into sheldons bedroom in the middle of the night in the episode that she was addicted to video games.

That's different. In Penny's world Penny can do what ever Penny wants to do. And other people can only do what Penny wants them to do.

Well if he is allowed to call her a tramp [which he did last season], than she can call him a weirdo. They are like siblings they call each other names when they get irritated with each other, but they don't really mean it to be mean. She was just annoyed he woke her up in the middle of the night and scared her half to death by standing over like well like a WEIRDO! lol I think Penny has a little bit of what sheldon has a wedgie in the brain that keeps her from realizing the things she says are mean. But she is being much more cruel to Leonard right now and she needs to start treating him better or just leave him alone and his friends alone. if she breaks Leonard's heart she isn't just ending their relationship, she is forcing Sheldon and the others to choose sides and we all know who they'll choose.

Did Penny hear Amy’s statement about 4 years to marry Sheldon?

The writers had her step away when she said it and she acted as if she had not hear it

Penny mostly good stuff with the girls and of course Sheldon.

Penny/Leonard for practical purposes ended last night.

Penny is in like not love.

How the writers are going to keep this going till February sweeps is beyond me.

Maybe we will get lucky and they will end it in the November sweeps.

What would the last sweeps episode be 7 or 8?

IMO much better then episodes 15-17.

Wheaton was probably right back in season 3.

Howard in space moderately funny but not very believable.

Bernadette came across as sweet.

Leonard either dense or manipulative.

Stuart sad but likable.

Amy good foil for Sheldon and Penny.

Marriage comment a little stalker like.

Sheldon clearly the saving grace for this episode especially his scene with Penny.

They really need to find more of that old time magic.

I loved the whole shampoo bit and the fish.

Crazy thought last night Penny as Sheldon’s roommate.

Before the Shamy fans kill me I mean largely Platonic.

Does Sheldon like to knock on the wall with Penny but with Leonard the door?

And you are not a "Shenny-Shipper", right? Well, we will find the answer to some of your positions in the coming weeks.

I saw the episode again. I still love it. Really loved the shamy scene -- they were so comfortable together.

Go back and look at sheldon's expression after he says good night to leonard and then turns back around to say more.

Also, I love the way he looks when he tells penny not to hurt his friend.

I really have to give Jim Parsons a huge thumbs up. I'm sure it is hard to be sheldon transforming this way. I think he did a great job in this episode, and he was funny at the same time.

I am going to hope that you have patience with them as they go through the season. I was one of the ring leader's who drank the Kool-aid from Prady and Molero this spring on promising to "fix Penny" in Season six (they actually said "mature", I interpreted it as "fixing"). They need more time since they F-ed up her character so badly after Lorre ordered the break-up of Penny and Leonard near the end of season three. The writers added all these faults to her in Season four and five, I guess because they thought it would make her more interesting. They found out from the fan base, it mearly made her more unlikable. And L/P became nearly intolerable.

They have to make her the focus of the first part of the season to save interest in L/P, especially with the rise of the Shamy monster that will dominate the show. Since they have made Leonard have the balls of a Ken doll now, changing Penny is the only way to change the Lenny.

Whether they can change Penny in a way that the fans won't find too abrupt or unbelievable is the real challenge. But they have to sweep off two plus seasons worth of crap and make the fans happy again or more viewers simply won't give a damn about L/P anymore and move on to the Shamy..
