JoeSal90 Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I also thought it was a cute episode. Not as good as last week, in my opinion, but had some good moments. And I believe this is the first time we actually saw Bernadette's workplace.
SodidIwin? Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 The episode was IMO very good. The interaction between Penny and Amy was excellent. Leonard was very good also. What wasn't very good was how Sheldon treated his assistant. He acted like a real jerk and Leonard clearly saw it. Sheldon acted how Raj did when he was given an assistant when he received the award from People magazine and Sheldon, Leonard & Howard walked out on him at the Cheesecake Factory. HeWolf Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Really liked this one! For me, this was the best episode of the season to this point.
Im_not_crazy Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Agreed not as funny as last week's episode but there were some good moments. Did not enjoy Amy and Penny's jealousy - this is really tiring to watch. Makes sense why Penny would feel jealous as the Penny-Leonard relationship is currently on the rocks but I don't understand why Amy would be jealous. Like someone mentioned in this thread - does she know Sheldon at all?
rubyanjel Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 As much as I'm thinking that jealous!Amy is a bit odd too, vasu (which I think you said that it's kind of creepy that she thinks they'll marry in exactly 4 years), I really liked the episode and I think their objective here is to show that Amy really is struck with the Whack-a-doodle. Like my homies say, "It's love, bitch." Though, this is the creepiest JP picture I have seen in my entire life. No wonder Kaley was making that face when Mayim faced it towards her. (KUDOS FOR MAYIM FOR THAT STRAIGHT FACE.)
Guest I'm not dead Cheryl Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I loved the episode, I laughed out loud through and through, I loved the Besties, but specially Amy, she was ON FIRE tonight Yeah, it was a bit odd that she would get jealous but is not out of nowhere... she has been hanging out with Penny for years, and she imitates her bestie a lot, so I see it. I mean, she was even trying on makeup when she found out about Alex! it makes sense to me, and it doesn't have anything to do with "knowing Sheldon" or not. I know my fiancee and I know he would never cheat on me. But I see a girl talking to him more than normal and I'm not happy. I might not say anything, but I feel the urge to fling my poop at her (NOT) haha but it happens. Anyhow... LOVED IT! a nice change from all the LP drama we've been having, which is OK, but it was getting too heavy.
mikesteffen Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Tonights show was the funniest show over all for me. I thought it was absolutely hillarious. Loved seeing Penny jealous of Leonard and the bit at the end with Wolowitz had me rolling on the floor. Also the bit Amy holding up the phone with Sheldon's photo was a crack up. phantagrae Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) I really enjoyed it and laughed out loud several times. Amy's suspicions make sense to me, especially when you consider that Sheldon is her first boyfriend. And because she finds him irresistible, naturally she assumes other women would as well, again, because she doesn't really know that much about romantic relationships other than what she's seen in movies or read in books, and there's always jealousy and drama in those stories. And I loved Amy pointing out that Penny's cerebral cortex was at odds with her limbic system. I also loved Penny reading the title of Sheldon's essay about math. And the potty-training diary. I think that it was in character--the "old Sheldon" that people have been lamenting--for Sheldon to treat his assistant like a lackey. How could it be otherwise? What's he gonna do, offer her a warm beverage? He didn't hire her to be one of his friends. Like someone mentioned in this thread - does she know Sheldon at all? Typical of Penny, She reacted to Sheldon's Grad Student by taking Leonard to her Apt to have sex. Just one more time she reacts to the Fear that an other woman might be interested in Leonard. Only last episode she is talking about Dumping Leonard. While I hate to over think a TV show I am rather disappointed with the way the writers are handling P/L Relationship. I have been trying to defend the Penny Character by pointing out Leonard's lack of a pair and lets Penny run over him. But I have yet to see any real growth in Penny that people seem to think will happen this season. .

She still finds him desirable and if she really wanted to dump him, she would have let the grad student get to know him, etc. But, just as Amy was pointing out, Penny was realizing that she really did want Leonard. Tonight she kind of staked a little bit of a claim on him, much the way Sheldon did with Amy when he found he didn't want her dating any other guy. I think that Amy and Bernadette last week were kind of beginning to hold her feet to the fire over her feelings for Leonard, and this week Amy kind of continued on that path. DPK Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Penny uses sex to avoid having to deal with anything on a real emotional level. That's her MO and taking Leonard away to have sex at the end fits with her character. All in all, the episode was simply ok. There was nothing fantastic but on the other hand it wasn't a trainwreck by any means. I actually liked Alex's character. She was very nice and friendly to all the characters and I certainly wouldn't object to having her come back every now and again, but I don't see that happening. Her character was really only there for one reason, and that was make both Amy and Penny jealous. Now that she accomplished that mission her job is done and we'll probably never see her character again. Again too bad because I rather liked her. I just just have to say eww to Amy's scenting. Didn't care for Howard's storyline. I think it's a real travesty that Howard's trip into space, something he's dreamed of for his entire life has turned out to be such a miserable experience for him on the whole. Leonard and Raj got some decent material this week. Sheldon was being his typical self so no surprises there.
Superlovelexi Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) Great episode!!! Loved Amy being jealous over Alex and calling her a skank. Its so obvious she had nothing to worry about Sheldon would never cheat on her at least not with another person lol, but he might fall in love with and sleep with his Nobel Prize Award behind her back if he ever wins one lol. But I get why Amy was jealous she's never had a boyfriend before and she is still learning how to interact socially in a relationship, so to her any girl that gets close to her man is a threat. I think thats partially why she BFF'd Penny in the first place. She knew how close they were and its like old saying goes keep your friends close and your enemies closer. Making Penny her BFF gave her some insurance that Penny wouldn't be coming after him too because Amy is always right there pressuring her to stay with Leonard and she knows that Penny wouldnt want to hurt her like that because they are best friends now. Amy looked so pretty in lipstick, and I love how she has evolved over the seasons its like I can barely recognize her as the Fembot Sheldon 2.0 that she use to be that didn't want to be touched by anyone and total Sheldon on first meeting that any form of physical contact was off the table and now she's licking SHeldon's stapler and desires phone sex lol ....my how the tides have turned!! I am so happy Penny was less annoying this week compared to last week. She actually got jealous over Alex too and is lusting after Leonard again instead of just giving him pity sex. I know she's still got a LONG way to go, but its a start. Sheldon was adorable as usual and had just enough funny bits to keep me happy, but wasn't overtaking every scene he was in like he was last week. I know some fans call this the "Sheldon Show" sometimes, and I get why. As much as I love him and he is my favorite character, I love all rest a lot too, but Sheldon's personality is so over top and hilarious he oftentimes seems to over power the others in most scenes and he gets the funniest lines. So its nice when he can be in a scene and be quiet sometimes just so other actors/characters have a chance to be the funnier ones every once in awhile. Amy holds her own against him though I got say. She's becoming my second favorite character now she's just too adorable for words. All her scenes with Penny were priceless. Only major thing missing from this episode was that their were no SHAMY scenes at all I know they had a lot of them in first two epis of the season so I get they need to change it up a bit, but I mean Sheldon and Amy didn't talk to each other once in this whole episode. I was kind of hoping that Amy would get the chance to confront Sheldon about his new assistant and show off her new lipstick. I think they missed opportunity for super funny scene if for example Alex and Sheldon walked back into Sheldon's office after lunch and found Amy lying on top of Sheldon's desk spreading her scent lol by rubbing her butt all over it or perhaps at least have Sheldon return and for some reason have to answer the phone because he sent Alex out of room and have him mentioned something about Amy right after talking on the phone to someone else to prove that Amy's spreading her scent actually worked and kept him thinking about her even without him realizing why lol. I also wish Raj could have spoken to Alex in the episode, why hasn't he learned by now to just carry around a small bottle of booze in his back pocket at all times you know like the ones found in hotel minibars so just in case he meets a pretty girl he can take one sip of it real quick and then actually be able to say Hello to her. Alex is smart, pretty and into astrophysics, she'd probably really like Raj if he could just talk with her. I hope she sticks around in future episode so he might get another chance. I liked her and she wasn't so crazy like his other grad assistant Nowitzki girl, but what is with all colleagues of Sheldon beside Amy having red hair well I mean Alex's was more auburn dark red, but still its red hair just like Nowitzki and the crazy nempho chick Elizabeth Plimpton. It makes me think that eventually she might turn out to be crazy too later on cause red haired girl nerds are usually wack jobs on this show. And to those of you who already know whats going to happen in future episodes please don't tell me whether she is or isn't going to be in more episodes. I would prefer to be surprised either way good or bad if she comes back great, if not thats okay too. Howard/Bernie scenes were funny too though they felt bit disconnected from rest of goings on of the episode. Simon's face on that computer screen is so expressive I almost wish he lived some place else all time like Raj's parents and that we always saw him like that on a screen cause the scenes when he video chats with Bernie have become some of my all time fav Howard's scenes ever. The line "Hello people of earth get ready to see two moons in sky tonight" is right up there with the 'I Ate a Butterly" video chat just too good. Overall great episode, but my biggest pet peeve is once again I just wish BBT was longer. I mean every time I watch it now I feel like at the end of episode "Wait thats it?" lol I want it to keep going and it always ends too soon and I have to wait a whole other week to see another 20 mins. But at least its probably funniest 20 mins of my whole week so thats something right. BTW.. has anyone here bought Chuck's new book or considering buying it. I keep seeing his vanity card promoting it and I just wanted to know if anyone has read it and whether its really good/funny? MJistheBOMB Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Great episode. Originally, I was gonna also say that last weeks was a better episode but I don't know, this one had many funny moments as well :-). It was even great seeing Raj NOT drunk and not being able to talk to women again. Sometimes you miss things you wouldn't think you would. LOL. Convict13 Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 (edited) It was good to see them working again. I liked Alex I would like to see her pop up from time to time. Yep nice solid episode I thought, where everyone got some nice air time. It is good to see Raj again this season. Especially liked Penny describing the Higgs Boson. LoveShamy Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I really did laugh when Howard was talking to Bernadette, just too funny! Zhalen565 Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Loved this episoe, Penny actually smiled for once this season. Leonard's wind up on Raj with Alex in the cafeteria was classic, the rat b*****d.
netmouse Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 Not quite as many lol moments this week for me. Loving Simon Helberg so far this season. He is doing the whole frantic Howard thing brilliantly !! :D Just me, or is Jim Parsons playing Sheldon with a very noticeable air of "haircut bongo Sheldon" from last season? It's like Sheldon has this underlying arrogance about him. Hard to explain it. Don't get me wrong, I'm liking it. Sheldon is more of a "Dark Sheldon" so far this season. (if that makes sense?) rickfromillinois Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I liked the Howard and Bernadette's scenes on the episode. I thought that they great. I also like the way the Leonard put Raj in his place in the cafeteria, after Raj called "dibs" on the grad student and stated that he loved her after just meeting her. I did find the Penny character less then admirable in this episode. She acted like she wasn't that interested in Leonard UNTIL she thought that the grad student was interested in him. Then all of a sudden she becomes overly jealous of Leonard. It reminded me of a child who has a toy that she is no longer interested in until another child picks it up, then all of a sudden it is her favorite toy and she throws a fit about another child touching it. Penny acted like she really doesn't want Leonard but she sure doesn't want anyone else to have him. Hardly an attractive way to act. Leonard, dump Penny and hook up with the grad student. CopperZinc Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I have to agree with you 'rickfromillinous'. While this was a very funny episode, Penny took yet another hit. She looks juvenile. Her behavior fit in high school, but they're all long past those days. She loses interest in her boyfriend UNTIL someone else shows interest him. She looked kind of ugly once again. Is Ms. Cuoco aware of what the producers are doing to her character?

I didn't feel that way last night--I think his interview of Alex was fairly typical of "normal" Sheldon. He didn't really have much in the way of "quirky" to do in this episode, but his behavior in the apartment with his journals felt very "normal Sheldon" to me. Sheldon has always been arrogant, especially when it comes to his work and his treatment of Alex fits in with his general disdain for grad students (most of them will end up teaching kids how to make paper mache volcanos, etc.) and his view of the "hired help". Back when he agreed to have Raj work "for" him, that wasn't far off from the way he treated Alex.
Kaizen Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 I liked the show, the overall flow was very cute and funny throughout. I really enjoy this version of Amy a lot more than the previous one. It was nice to see Amy dolled up a bit...Mayim has a very pretty face and was on fire...lots of funny one liners.  The scene of her marking her territory, and laughing at her own brain scientists joke was hilarious. To me, her jealousy reaction makes a lot of sense for her and as a catylist for the Penny fix.  Amy,s in love for the first time,  thinks Sheldon is her soulmate and that they'll be married in 4 years, so she's not going to let some skank sink Shamy.  This was the second show in row, where Penny hasn't done or said something to make me hate her, so the writers' plan to fix Penny is in play.  However, correcting the adverse feelings caused by repetitively portraying Penny so negatively during the past two seasons and making her likable again is going to be a slow work in progress. Last week, Penny was thinking about breaking up with Leonard.  And now, with the help of Alex and Amy's reactions to her, Penny wants to hold on and is forced to think about her feelings for Leonard. The writers seem to be laying the groundwork for some sort of major Penny epiphany.  Or, maybe Leonard connects the dots with last weeks' Transformer bit and dumps Penny. As long as the don't do any psycho drama, i'll follow along. Leonard got a couple of nice digs to Raj and Sheldon, but overall Leonard, Raj, and Bernie were good enough to maintain homeostasis.  It was nice to see Sheldon as a passenger in this episode as well as now and again - especially after last weeks' Hercules performance. Howard was great, but I'm not a fan of the writers belittling Howard space mission.  The Space bullies didn't sit well.  The Space anxiety was funny.  Just would have preferred something like the exploding toilet, or some sort of sci-fi connection.
annieogly Posted October 12, 2012 Posted October 12, 2012 This to me was like the 'old' classic episodes, I really laughed; first science was back. Thank you: Higgs & Sheldon's competitive nature to get the prize fueled the episode. Howard & gravity, Bernadette at her desk (she actually works- more of that please). Also strong weird Amy was back, I really enjoyed her spreading her scent etc as it was tied in with science & her explaining to Penny what her brain was doing. These are different people not normal average people and I love that. . Penny & Sheldon - classic 'I'm just a blonde monkey to you' so funny & I loved him having a lackey & Raj getting back in claiming dibs. Alex was blah, she didn't do much with the role. I hope the writers keep this up.
