This episode was good. Sheldon's storyline and demeanor throughout the episode were reminiscent of earlier seasons. It must have been a long time since I last heard so many scientific terms thrown at me by this show, because it felt a bit weird. :icon_wink: It was like they were making up in one episode for the lack of scientific terminology in the last 1.5 seasons or so. :icon_lol:

Not a lot of LOL moments for me, though. Simon Helberg's plot was a bit silly but he really hit it out of the park with his acting. He always makes the best of it, that's for sure. So did Kunal in this episode. BTW, I really like Alex for him. They have similar educational backgrounds and she seems very sweet. I know the actress from her days on 'Even Stevens'. She's great. Bring her back!

Overall, I think that Mayim and Kaley had the best lines and scenes. The conversation in her apartment and in the car were really funny. I wasn't crazy about the stapler licking thing but the scene was well played.

About Amy's "scent-marking" scene--I think the audience is supposed to be grossed out by it--Penny sure was! I really really hope they sterilized that stapler before Mayim had to lick it. I wouldn't lick my own stapler on my own desk in a million years, so that was some brave physical acting. :D

This was the only episode so far where Mayim's injured hand made things awkward. She was doing everything with one hand and it was more conspicuous in this episode than it has been up til now.

I also like the different hairstyle they have Leonard sporting now. And I think Jim's hair is a little longer in general.

Funny thing about the stapler was that she didn't wipe it off between takes or anything. Just licked it every time! :D

I'm sure it was clean beforehand... I mean, I hope.

At least she's not the whining primadonna type who will be whining about having to lick a stapler. It makes me wonder though if it was in the the script or it was adlib.

So I just watched this for the first time since I saw the taping, and holy crap, the scene with Amy and Penny in the car is incredible. Unless they actually sit in a car at a later time and film, Kaley and Mayim were just sitting in two chairs and Kaley had a steering wheel. The entire car and surroundings are edited in. I knew the outside would be, but the WHOLE CAR? I am impressed.

I've read from most of Roxanne's reports that sometimes the car scenes are reenacted for the audience and most of the time they're just on a chair with a steering wheel and that they already have a pre-taped version.

No, actually, they do that in front of the audience just so you can see the scene (they explained this at one I went to when Leonard was singing, "...'cause tonight's gonna be a good night..." LOL.) The scene is shot in front of a green screen before hand.

Gotta hand it to the actors, then, because I have a pretty good memory, it looked exactly how it did when I was watching (especially Kaley) act the scene.

I was thinking to myself that it would be way too tedious and expensive to have someone edit in the entire thing, lol.

I have to agree with you 'rickfromillinous'. While this was a very funny episode, Penny took yet another hit. She looks juvenile. Her behavior fit in high school, but they're all long past those days. She loses interest in her boyfriend UNTIL someone else shows interest him. She looked kind of ugly once again.

Is Ms. Cuoco aware of what the producers are doing to her character?

Agree. As I said on another thread I really regret naming my dog after the character. I like my dog more than I do Penny at the moment, and the former is a destructive (though adorable) little pooch.

The Leonard/Penny thing worked for me because it was the fairytale of guy geek gets unattainable girl. Now she's just undesirable petty mean childish girl.

In bed "he really tries"? What happened to the episode where she said "You really are a genius!"

And Leonard has no clue how she's talking about him to all of their mutual friends behind his back...

I didn't get to see it when it aired. I just watched it! I loved it. Well, I have yet to find a episode I didn't ^_^ .

I loved this...

Penny: This is a eyelash curler, all you do is put it over your lashes and close.

Amy: I don't know. It looks like something Tinkerbell's gynecologist uses.

Penny: I hope for her sake, it's not Captian Hook.

Hey guys! Here's the issue, during this episode Penny and Amy are putting on makeup and there is a mirror with a light that they are using to put the make up on, my wife flipped over this mirror and would love to have one, I would like to get it for her for her birthday in Dec but I can not find it anywhere on the internet. Does anyone happen to know what mirror this is as well as where to get it?!? Please help, you are my only hope!

We need to give the writers more time to fix what they broke over the last two years and this episode was an important one for it highlighted one of Penny's biggest faults: she only is passionate for Leonard when she thinks he may not be there for her. She always gets jealous of any woman who's pretty and smarter than she is who is around Leonard. She even got jealous of Bernadette when Bernie wanted to see Leonard's experiment and Penny went to Sheldon to teach her Physics.

As with all the episodes so far this season she is confronted with one of her behavior defect for the first time by one of Leonard's friends and has to think about it. Remember this is the woman whose motto is "Don't over think things".

The process is not finished since her only response is to sleep with Leonard to make things better. She will be given more depth, I hope, as the story arc continues this season.

I totaly agree with BangerMain's analysis. Also, regarding Penny talking behind Leonars's back. What group of friends, women or men, do not seek help with the people closest to them whether it be friends or family members when they are trying to come to terms with an important issue in their lives. They even talk about their significant other when there isn't anything wrong. As for the remark about his really trying in bed, that was just an oppurtunity for the writers to get in a cheep joke into the conversation and nothing more. I think the writers are handling Penny's issues one by one and so far are doing a good job on each issue with more to follow.

I don't know about that exact mirror, but lighted mirrors should be fairly easy to find at most department stores or even some drugstores (in their make-up or "beauty" department.)

I don't know what part of the world you're in, but such mirrors would probably be at Target, Walmart, Kohl's, JCPenney, etc. Anyplace that sells things like blow-dryers, curling irons, makeup, etc.
