No...I don't think that ever happened, unless I missed it because I am a couple episodes....well like a season, behind. But no, I was talking about when Sheldon was talking to Penny trying to convince her not to break up with Leonard in a recent episode. Geez I call myself a fan? I don't even know the numbers or titles of the damn episodes.

I basically don't watch TV (some cable shows) so haven't seen any season 6 yet.

The episode I meant was S5 Ep 11 - 'The Speckerman Recurrence'.

....But I bet you could find many examples of their friendship mentioned.

(Like how the elevator got damaged...).

I hated that scene when Spock died! So sad.

But yes you are right, everything revolves around that friendship. Without Leonard, Sheldon wouldn't have friends. Which means he wouldn't have meet Howard and Raj, who found him Amy. Leonard was patient enough to live with a cuckoo bird like Sheldon that long, and be friends with him. I can definitely see the similarities with Spock and Kirk.

All this makes me think of is Sheldon's recent "Please don't hurt my friend". Which almost made me cry.

:icon_arrowl: This almost cried too! Sheldon is awkward and selfcentered (in a funny way), but he cares and he does have a big heart.

I love 'mance's'...

Leonard/Sheldon bromance

Raj/Howard bromance (These two fight and act like a old married couple, I love that!)

I love the besties! Penny/Amy (Without the geek's across the hall, normally this friendship wouldn't have happened.)

relationships...

Shamy (Sheldon is acting like a 'normal boyfriend' well, as much as Sheldon can)

Lenny (best romance on bbt, they need to stay together)

Howedette (adorkable)

I think this ensemble is a great show of how friendship can create a safe haven for those who might otherwise be outcasts.

Even for Penny, who would seem better suited to navigate the world more easily, the guys offer her a refuge. I think that she finds a sort of safe haven with the guys as well--even when she and Leonard haven't been together, they are willing to let her hang out with them, they try to include her in their geeky activities--and she's not altogether adverse to giving things a try and is learning a little geek-speak.

For the guys their circle is a place where they don't have to worry about being beat up or ridiculed (except for in their own mutual-teasing way) and even if Sheldon seems to look down on them, in the end they're all willing to back each other up.

I think that it's an important thing that Leonard is kind of the go-between for the different combinations of people--he's the one who brought Howard and Raj into his apartment and facilitated their friendship with Sheldon and Leonard serves as a kind of buffer between Sheldon and the rest of the world.

Leonard is also the one who brought Penny into their circle, and he kind of acts as a buffer between her and everyone else--at least until she kind of established her own relationships with each of the guys in turn.

And now with the addition of Bernadette and Amy, Penny has friends with whom she can discuss girl things, relationship things, etc. and they can offer her a different perspective than the guys can, especially when it comes to her relationship with Leonard.

Altogether I think it's a great collection of characters who all have their rough spots, but who, in the end, are all really good to each other.

Beautifully said.

Leonard is the hub for all the characters, he connects everyone in one or two hops.
