Having L/P married at series final and living happily ever after does absolutely nothing for me! The series will be over at that point, why would I care? They need to be together "during" the series for L/P fans to enjoy it. The so called "end game" is totally meaningless!

As for "leaving Alex alone" if they do use her to hurt Penny and affect the L/P relationship, then you haven't seen nothing yet! The whole wrath of the L/P fans will fall upon her. By the way the fans of each couple whether it is Lenny, Shammy or H/B are very passionate and unforgiving! But that's just my opinion and observation! :)

For the writers, keeping L/P unmarried for longer then seven season would be quite a juggling trick especially at the rate they are going this season. It would require a full break up, something I don't think the fans would tolerate without considering it unrealistic and arbitrary. The writers seem to be clearing obstacles in season six for L/P. They have been at this for so long now they are running out of reasons to not make them a permanent couple during the last few seasons of the show. The closes analogy to L/P in sitcom history is not Ross and Rachael of "Friends" but Joe and Helen of "Wings". The producers of that show finally ran out of delaying tactics (break-ups, misunderstandings, others lovers, etc) and gave up and had them married by the seventh season.

What gives them cover for a L/P marriage is the Shamy. That's the relationship they can legitimately tease to the series end.

Look at the voting for this episode,no-one below good.

That's because the main 5 are a stronger combo, they have been doing it longer and theres a much better chemistry between them. It also felt like they had less to cram in to the episode because they left out Amy, Bernadette and Stuart. I hate to say it but it is better. The episode has a proper flow rather than a rush to fit everything in.

There was one thing I did not like and I'm not sure if its been mentioned. Sheldon's comment about Penny peeking corn was crass and tacky. It's something Amy would say, not Sheldon. He rarely swears and is never crude. I didn't think that scene when he was teasing Leonard was very good. It didn't have the charm of some of the great Sheldon/Leonard scenes we have had lately.

Agree with all of this. The core cast does work better as a unit, both because the chemistry is so outstanding between all of them and they've been doing it so long. And I agree about Sheldon's pecking corn joke too. It wasn't that bad but it was a bit "beneath" Sheldon. I was loving the scene though. 50% of men are more attractive than Leonard! Sheldon giving him grief is always great.

Some of the Leonard/Sheldon scenes lately have been fanastic, this one didn't grab me. Maybe because of that line and Sheldon just seemed to have this right miserable face on. He looked a bit mean.

Well, maybe sheldon was a bit mean, and threw the crude comment in, to make his point across to leonard because he was concerned for him? I am stretching, I know, but earlier in the season, sheldon tried to warn leonard about penny, and he was concerned, so maybe sheldon's trust on how penny treats leonard is pretty low, since he heard that she might break up with him earlier in the season, and maybe he really was trying to get leonard to think about the possibility of penny cheating on him.

I know I am stretching, but I also need to to try to make sense of sheldon making such a sexual reference. Even though sheldon is naive about many things, it's no secret that he does know what sex is; he just never talks about it or make reference to it, like he did in this episode.

You may have a point. In that scene Sheldon actually seemed hell-bent on scaring Leonard about Penny and the other guy, and he didn't even seem very innocent and clueless when doing it. It's quite possible that he remembered the earlier information about Penny possibly leaving Leonard, felt concerned for him, and wanted to motivate him to do something to hold on to her if possible. And given what he is, that was his blunt weird way of 'warning' him.

Awesome episode, on e of the best IMO! It didnt feel rushed or "crammed" with to many story lines, I love the original cast back together in this one. The ILY I feel was one of the biggest moments on the show to date, we've been cheering for Leonard to earn this since season 1. The text afterwards didnt bother me at all, the scene really fit in with the tone / pace of how they've portrayed the relationship so far. When I first watched it, it took a second to sink in and then I just blurted out "hold on.... did she just...?" Amazing well acted and written scene!

So far this has been an excellent season. There have been a few moments where Penny wasnt that likeable and the first few episodes seemed like more of the same but that has turned around the last few episodes. Though I do think she was pretty mena to Loenard and Amy/Bernadette regarding her class / homework. I like that they wrote Sheldon back (mostly) into his original character, but does anyone else feel he's developed a mean streak this season, especially with Leonard and Amy? Many of his lines, while funny at face value, just seem mean like there is intent to hurt and in not his usual naive / clueless way. Also Amy is an interesting character, she went from weird / creepy to likeable and now almost seems "normal" and a bit bitchy (the fun with Flags scene's). I dont know where things are headed this season, but those few issues aside this is an excellent season so far!

I think that your comment about Sheldon remembering that Penny was thinking of breaking it off with Leonard earlier in the season has a lot of validity to it. Sheldon may at times be a real nut job but one thing is for certain, he really cares about his little buddy! Even in the episode where he asks Penny to please not hurt his friend, he was pragmatic enough to also try to get Leonard prepared if Penny decided to actually brake it off with him.

As for the chicken picking reference, IMO it was very funny! I also think that the writers took an old hypnotist act, which it was, and let each individual in the audience themselves decide which version to use in their own mind. Everyone has seen old movies of the vaudeville acts with hypnotists having people from the audience come on stage be hypnotized and act out all different animals including chicken picking. They just took that and utilized it in a manner that was both hilarious and open for interpretation. Depending if the individual watching either wanted it to be subtle dirty or just innocent vaudeville humor. Personally the Leonard/Sheldon scene was Lol hilarious. But that's IMO!

I didn't get the chicken thing at first, and thought it was innocent, so you point here is very valid. pretty clever of the writers, but still a little head scratching going on that sheldon said it.

One thing that maybe made the audience think that Sheldon was indeed referring to fellatio is that he mentioned that they may be performing sexual acts and that Cole might be "having the time of his life" followed by his demonstration of a chicken pecking corn.

Rewatching it kills me every. single. time.

So having Amy as a girlfriend has cured his nightmares? :icon_mrgreen:

well... in that episode, he said that the book was giving him "nightmares" and said that he was in "hell" but then......... he didn't want her to stop, so.... in my country we have a saying that is "sarna con gusto no pica" which means something like "If you like the scratching then you do not mind the lice" or something of the sort... it's lost in translation but it means that he is obviously NOT having a bad time about that, despite him saying otherwise.

Enjoyed this episode a lot.

Sheldon was so much fun.

One minor nitpick I think if Penny is saying I love you to Leonard she should have had more then about three minutes in the episode.

It is also always interesting to watch the gun being loaded and placed on the wall.

I believe it means something roughly similar to 'the gentleman doth protest too much', which I think also applies to Sheldon. ;)

What can you say? It's really getting tiresome! TPTB just love to mess with the L/P followers. I just don't see it changing now. I pretty much have given up and take what they give us. I have no choice in the matter. It is what it is!
