jpere Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I found the whole scene with penny busting her nose to be completely pointless to be totally honest. It set them up to use it in a way like this but they ended up just sweeping it under the rug like everything else... it wasn't super funny, wasn't important to the story line, and overall achieved well nothing really. Maybe I just didn't like seeing her get hurt like that but I mean why put it there? Would have really like to see something similar to your idea. It was just for the comedy. I just re-watched the episode on cbs.com and I replayed the scene of Penny getting hit with the purse at least ten times. The way she screams, the way her body receives the shock, the way she falls on her knees... hilarious each time.
MrsToad Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Boy Sheldon can strip out of everything-including his tightie-whities-FAST. I'd like to see more of that
goblyn-ina-trenchcoat Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 And who the HELL voted this episode 'bad' and 'very bad'? What the hell were YOU watching??? that should be a t-shirt!!!!
Convict13 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 #TeamSheldon #TeamAmy I dont care. Sheldon was NOT wrong to be angry about his spot! I agree with that spot was a part of his salary package, they have no right to reassign it without his permission, so I can understand his anger and annoyance. Convict13 Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I loved her reaction. I was like DAMN and OH SNAP along w her. Those was some awesome comebacks between Amy and Bernadette Kaley nailed the reactions in this episode, spot on.
BazingaFan Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 After rewatching the episode, I have one point to make--- Amy mentioned the bikini wax to Sheldon BEFORE they got into the car. She made a comment about it while he was spray painting the curb. Maybe that is why he was "intrigued."
vasu Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) Thinking about the episode.. A lot of this felt like the Sheldon-Raj brobdigdangian desk plot... Raj getting something new...Sheldon saying no...Childish fights...only this time the ladies got invovled Anyways It never felt that Howard's raising status was causing an issue to Sheldon, so it basically was just another story about proving Sheldon is a wackadoodle/immovable/bat crap crazy... In the end it was a funny story , nothing great or exceptional , just the same old same old, Sheldon is crazy episode... season 6 into the show... I get that he is crazy...and I know his antics are what makes him funny...but I would not want to see an entire episode proving that he is crazy...because it adds nothing Melissa's evil playing skills was the most amusing part of the episode for me Edited December 1, 2012 by vasu
BangerMain Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Again overall great episode. However, the makeup between Howard and Sheldon was weak and lame. Sheldon was so wrong in this episode and went batshit crazy again. I think instead of Raj bringing Howard in to work it out with crazy Sheldon, it should have been an enraged Leonard coming in, mad about Penny's nose, telling crazy Sheldon he is going to end it or else. Then instead of a restaurant scene, they should have had Leonard and Penny together and her asking how Leonard ended it. He would tell her then of some off the wall threat he made, that would only scare Sheldon, and she would tell him he really is a genius. She could then kiss him, then jump back, crying "Oh my nose". Scene end. Finally they could have used the dry cleaning scene or then the restaurant scene. This was a great episode until the end. Penny gets her face busted and everyone ends up toasting a very unlikely truce without Leonard or Raj. The truce was very hastily arranged by the writers because there was so much going on that they just ran out of time. Howard apologized just to appease the crazy guy, Sheldon, and Leonard was not shown because he would have been enraged about what happened to Penny. Only so much can be done in 22 minutes though. SRAM Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 The ending was rushed, now that you bring it up. I would have loved seeing Leonard pissed at crazy Sheldon, scaring the crap out of him, over how his craziness caused Penny to be hurt. Sheldon needs a healthy dose of reality and this episode would have been a good one to do it. After all if it appropriate for Sheldon to fight Will for insullting Amy, can't Leonard punch out Sheldon for getting Penny hurt. Superlovelexi Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) The ending was rushed, now that you bring it up. Sheldon needs a healthy dose of reality and this episode would have been a good one to do it. After all if it appropriate for Sheldon to fight Will for insullting Amy, can't Leonard punch out Sheldon for getting Penny hurt. No, I don't think Leonard has any right to punch Sheldon over what happened to Penny. 1. Its not Sheldon's fault Amy hit Penny, its not even Amy's fault she hit him it was an ACCIDENT!! And Amy apologized right away and even drove Penny to hospital for help so its not like Sheldon deserves to be punished for Amy accidently hitting her. What Wil wheaton said to Amy wasn't an Accident it was done on PURPOSE to insult her because she was being rude to him so it was both Wil and Amy's fault then, but not Sheldon fault either time. Standing up for your woman in this case would mean Leonard standing up to Amy not Sheldon because Sheldon wasn't the one who hit her Amy did and Leonard hitting a girl would be totally WRONG! 2. Penny is totally capable of fighting her own battles if she blamed Sheldon for it she would have gone and punched him herself she's hit him before so she wouldn't need Leonard to do it. Penny wasn't mad at Sheldon, she was mad at Amy first and then she was just mad at all of them for acting all happy while she was only one who got really hurt, but she'll get over it and she should because she didn't apologize for hitting Sheldon in the face for trying to take the LOTR ring off her neck so why should he apologize for Amy hitting her in the face by accident just like she hit him in face by accident. As they say "PAY BACK's a B!" lol And its not Amy's fault that President Seibert gave away Sheldon's space to Howard that was just rude for him to do that to Sheldon without even warning him because both Seibert and Howard know how Sheldon is about his "spots". I think Seibert did it to provoke Sheldon because he doesn't like him and Howard just wants to be the Bigger man for a change and get the nice space so he wouldnt' give it back. Frankly they all should toliet paper Seibert's house, break in and leave lipid residue all over his furniture because he's the biggest jerk of them all IMO. I don't like Seibert at all. He's a pervert and a meany as Bernadette would say! He was even okay with Leonard sleeping with an old lady just to get mone for the university and that is totally unethical. He also threatened to burn out Sheldon's eyes just because he didn't want to go to a fundraiser now thats really CRAZY! Sheldon never threatens to physically hurt people like that. And no real President of a University could get away with threatening a professor like that in front of other professors who could act as witnesses to harrasment. He's a creep and its his fault the whole fight between Howard and Sheldon started in first place he could have just gave Howard a space that wasn't assigned to someone else, but I'm sure he knew it was Sheldon's space and gave it away just to piss Sheldon off. He was even cursing at him over the phone when Sheldon called to ask why he gave it away. Just because he's their boss doesn't mean he can treat them like dirt. They should try to video tape him screwing one of the university patrons that he alluded to doing for the money and then put that video up on youtube so he'll be forced to resign by the board of directors of their university for being a sleazeball. Then we can have even more fun watching the guys fight over the election of a new university president lol Edited December 1, 2012 by Superlovelexi

The ending was rushed, now that you bring it up. These are great points. It seems that they get a little too caught up at presenting a good stage performance for the live audience that the end result for the viewers at home gets over looked. I wish that they would focus more on the final piece before it airs on TV rather than pleasing the live audience in a condensed time frame (they would see it again anyway on TV) . I hope the live audience would understand that the stage may have a messy/confusing story, but the bigger picture is to have an episode that has the WOW factor. Superlovelexi Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) It wasn't just Sheldon's craziness that caused Penny to get hurt it was President Seibert's rudeness and Howard's unwillingness to give up the spot right away because he was being selfish and Sheldon's craziness and Bernadette's craziness and Amy's craziness so I guess Penny should punch them all in the face, but I don't think will ever hear about this particular fight again so time to GET OVER IT! lol Edited December 1, 2012 by Superlovelexi

SRAM Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Then Sheldon getting decked over it by Leonard should even be more funny, right. Blame Penny for what, trying to calm the girls down????? Seriously finding humor in anyone being hurt is sadistic. I really don't want any the characters hurt and I don't want the writers to hurt the characters for laughs. I'm guessing you don't like the original "Three Stooges", right? I only specify the originals as the recent movie attempt was no where near the level of the stooge's genius. Tensor Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Wow I'm really impressed. I always hated the "3 Stooges". It made me cringe. Nothing to be impressed with, connecting the dots wasn't that difficult. I don't have a problem with physical or slapstick comedy, in relation to and as part of COMEDY. I have major problems dealing with that same physicality or slapstick, outside of comedy. For instance, I simply can't watch horror, my psyche doesn't allow it. Penny getting hit, the Stooges, Keystone Kops, etc I think are frigging hilarious. If this is schizophrenic, then so be it. As long as I know it's comedy, physicality is, to me, simply hysterical. phantagrae Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 (edited) I think people are missing the point of the story and/or taking it way too seriously. I think that Siebert can probably do whatever he thinks is appropriate with Sheldon's parking spot since Sheldon isn't using it and doesn't even own a car or know how to drive. It's a wasted asset and Sheldon can be given a spot if and when he ever needs one. I imagine a parking spot would have been requested by Howard once he got his new car (or planned on getting it) and since he is indeed a feather in te cap of the school, it's not unreasonable for Siebert to grant that request. It's likely that Sheldon's spot was the only faculty spot not being used, so it makes sense to assign that spot to someone who might actually use it. It's not Howard's or Siebert's job to coddle Sheldon over his idle parking spot or to baby him over such things, so I don't see that either Howard or Siebert can be blamed for Sheldon's behavior. He's a grown-ass man who should be expected to act like a grown-up. That he doesn't is simply par for Sheldon's peculiar course. As others have said, Leonard doesn't have any grounds to blame anyone for Penny's accident. Maybe Amy shouldn't have been trying to clobber Bernadette, but hitting Penny was obviously an accident caused solely by Amy. Sheldon had no control over her actions and can't be held responsible. And I loved that Leonard was actually laughing when Sheldon was butt-wiggling in Howard's car. I don't know that the end was rushed. How much further could it have gone? I think Raj's solution was the only viable one--let Sheldon think he's being the bigger man, and everyone gets what they want in the end. Amy and Bernie stop when Penny gets hurt because of their escalating fight and they both seemed to realize that things have gotten out of hand. I don't think the episode was pointless. There's no big arc that needs to be addressed with every episode. The show has often told us these litte slice of nerd life kinds of stories, from chasing down a cricket to solve a bet, to robot wars, to visiting renaissance fairs or whatever. Yeah, we know that Sheldon is kooky and this is another example of how far he will go to seek what he thinks is right or fair, but why not watch that? It's funny and silly and goofy, but so what? Kyzzx Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I don't think the episode was pointless. There's no big arc that needs to be addressed with every episode. My thoughts exactly. I love the storylines about mundane things. Everyday life. I love the dry humor that comes with it. If I want a storyline that I have to intensely follow and where crucial turns are happening all the time, I'll watch Breaking Bad or The Walking Dead. The thing I love about BBT is that you can watch them out of order and they're all great. You can't shuffle dramas. I am thankful this show is not like that.
