Guest I'm not dead Cheryl

Okay what I don't get... season 3 the second episode Howard says he spent his childhood nailing bugs to cork board yet he's afraid of worms in this episode... huh?

I get it... I have even had pet spiders, I can touch any kind of bug.. but worms are really squishy and just yucky.

Another good episode tonight, with a great Sheldon/Amy plot along the subplot for Howard and Bernadette's father Mike.

And C-Trayne, it just may be a continuity error or Howard just doesn't like worms at all.

Ok, so some of you know I was very much bothered by the spanking scene from the taping reports.  But, jim and mayim's comedic genius and acting abilities somehow turned it into something that was extremely hilarious.  I'm still not sure how they did it.

The connection made between howard and his father in law was touching and it was great to see howard have a father influence.

My favorite moment -- when sheldon turned around and told amy that it was his job to care for her -- the most important shamy moment as of yet, in my opinion.

excellent episode -- I still think they must have hired some new writers, especially for the latest ones.

I was LMAO at the spanking, it wasn't uncomfortable at all and my roommate was sprawled on the floor as he fell out the cushion laughing.

Amy was awesome in the episode. Mayim deserves ALL the awards.

I'm a little on the fence on the tag but the rest of the episode was great.  I loved how Sheldon approached the whole 'Liar, Liar' onto Amy.  Tsk, tsk! :p  The 2nd plot was fill basically and in a couple of areas cringe worthy. I say an 8.

Really?  This one goes near the bottom of my list.  OK, to be honest if this was any generic sit-com it would've been good, but in many ways it just seemed out of character for TBBT.  For the most part Sheldon has been good this season but he was a bit all over the place tonight.  It had funny moments, a few touching moments and Sheldon showed he has grown but it's not up to the bar set by other episodes this season.  I realize that Sheldon wasnt supposed to realize what he was doing but rubbing Vap-o-rub on her chest, bathing her and then the spanking?  This was sooooo far out for the Sheldon we've come to know thus far.  And Burnadette's Mom was just annoying.

But a "bad" TBBT is better than a "good" episode of most other shows.

LOL!!! It wasn't because he was smacking her behind too hard, if that's what you're thinking ;-). He's discussed his red hands before some where (I don't remember which interview) which basically, from what he said, the part of him that is like Sheldon is he's a bit of a germ a phobic and washes his hands often. He mentioned that they would try to cover them with make-up but I don't know...sure doesn't look like it considering a lot of episodes we cleary can see his red hands. LOL.

BEST SHAMY EPISODE EVER!!!!  :D  Right up there with I Love Lucy when Ricky use to spank her all time on the show.   I came into this episode trying my best not to get too spoiled because I just knew Shamy stuff would be cute and sweet to watch Sheldon take care of sick Amy and all I was hoping for was for him to perhaps sing her soft kitty singing, but instead I got full out  freakiness from Sheldon instead and I loved it.  LMAO!!!   Forget Christan Grey hello Sheldon Cooper!

I'm calling it Dr. Sheldon Cooper is a total FREAK in best possible way, like they saying goees "You want a gentlemen in public freak in the bedroom."  or in this case right out in open on the COUCH!  The growth in Sheldon from season 1 to now is been amazing.

First scene of the night he brought up SEX with the guys he didn't even say coitus he actually said spiderman can't have.... "SEX WITH A SPIDER" then later he actually admitted that he  WANTED to rub Amy's chest.  She asked him "you want to rub something on my chest" and he said "Yes...All over it!"  Now people can pretend all they want to that he just innocent and doesn't know what he's saying, but Jim is a genius he makes Sheldon appear innocent and clueless on the surface, but he always gives just the hint of sexiness to make it clear that Sheldon really is enjoying this even if he pretends like he's not.

Just like with handholding first he says only in certain cases in the agreement, then he breaks his own rule during the space launch, then when Amy wants to do it again at movies, he does it and complains, but instead of saying he hates handholding he just says "I'm not a fan" and continues to do it while even smiling at her while doing so.  This is not a man who doesn't like sex or touching people, this is a man who is FALLING IN LOVE and ready to let his freak flag fly. I expect Fun with Flags will take on a whole new twist when Sheldon and Amy design their own freak flag.

This episode was Awesome he told her he would sing to her then he gave Amy a sponge bath and finally he SPANKED her!  Did the movie SECRETARY! come to mind for anyone else?

I don't even mind that Amy lied to Sheldon, because he likely done same thing to her if he had the chance too. In fact once he even told Penny and Leonard he was going to run around outside with a wet head and catch a cold just to keep from going to her grandma's party and he got himself sick just to make his mom take care of him again when she was spending too much time with his friends instead of tending to his every need.  Both Amy and Sheldon want to be taken care of and want to be in control and be controlled.   I definitely see them wearing S&M costumes in the future episode and Sheldon pretending like he thought leather outfits were just to keep warm during winter or some such nonsense.

I always hoped hidden under all that higher form of intelligence mumbo jumbo and the super sweet southern man child was a Sex Freak just waiting to get out!!  Jim deserves an Emmy again for this and so does Mayim I was literally squeeing and jumping up and down throughout entire episode.  I know the fans of Sheldon as only asexual being aren't going to like how much he's changed, but I FREAKING LOVE IT!!!

Exhibit A!

When Penny first comes back from Nebraska and tells him how everyone got sick he makes her leave his apartment and sprays it with Lysol and freaks out over it now he willing to take care of his sick girlfriend.

Also when Sheldon got sick he made Penny take care of him and tells Penny he doesn't like using vapor rub himself because it makes his hands SMELL FUNNY so he makes Penny put it on him instead.  But, now for AMY he is willing to put it on her no gloves bare hands to bare chest! Oh yeah he's IN LOVE!!

Exhibit B!

Sheldon told Penny and the guys that AMY IS NOT HIS GIRLFRIEND!  and then later he asks "AMY WILL YOU BE MY GIRLFRIEND"

Exhibit C!

Sheldon acts as though he doesn't understand much about sex but then he made that oral sex chicken pecking comment and he also was willing to pimp Leonard out to old lady just to get science equipment.  Sheldon liked playing role of a pimp even went out and procurred condoms and pills  much more powerful than Viagra to help get his libido going.

Exhibit D.

When Amy first asked Sheldon to cuddle with her he barely moved on the couch and waited for her to move closer before saying "OH BOY" like a nervous nelly and yet now he actually pats his legs and tells her to get over his knee so he can spank her and then he does it with no problem like its most natural think to do, but cuddling was weird and awkward for him.  I think its because his own twisted childhood he saw spanking and violence from his father more than cuddles and hugs yet with Amy he is learning to enjoy both sides of being physical with her the softer side and the spank me harder side lol

Exhibit E

When Amy first dressed up as star trek nurse for him and they played "doctor" he told Leonard he was "In hell"  but then told Amy "DON'T STOP!"

Exhibit F

Sheldon kept an ongoing internet relationship with Elizabeth Plimpton a woman who turns out to be a total nymphomaniac and we were led to believe he had no idea about this, but now I think maybe thats why he finally invited her to stay with them.  He didn't like the fact that Leonard hooked up with her because I think he wanted to and knew exactly what kind of kinky woman she was, but once she had been with his friend he was no longer interested.   He let that crazy grad student Nowitzki dominate his life for awhile and he is usually a control freak trying to make his friends follow all his rules.

Exhibit G

When Amy was sexually aroused because of Zach Sheldon said he suppresses his primitive urges with kolihnar, and that "we all have that cross to bear"  as if he does in fact have sexual desires and they are really primitive twisted kinky ones and so in order keep from embarrassing himself, his mother he tried to reject them, but now he's found someone just as kinky as he is in Amy that he can slowly start to let go!

Conclusion:  Hidden under those nerdy super tight t-shirts, hyper intelluctual ego and adorable smile is one KINKY DOCTOR! I think his super religious upbringing and crazy alcholic father created a twisted man whose tried for so long to hide his quirks and kinkiness under a guise of science and now he can no longer hide it all.  Think about it this is a man who was willing to put on a French Maid costume and walk around his university in it.

This was a man who just last week took off his clothes in Howard's car and rubbed his naked butt on it for revenge.  He looked at Amy's bikini area too and although the writers are still trying to pretend like Sheldon is super innocent and gets no pleasure out of spanking his woman or bathing her or what have you.  You can tell that he is enjoying this and its almost like a fun game to him to hide his sexual desires, but let them come out in other ways that are more twisted and funny.

We've also seen what happens when Sheldon gets drunk he takes his clothes off in public, he tries to beat up wil wheaton and I think eventually he's going have crazy awkward freaky HOT SEX with Miss Amy Farrah Fowler.  Oh yes it will happen its not a matter of if anymore its only a matter of WHEN!

But, the best part is he also cares about her and way he so sweetly said to Amy tonight "I'm sorry I just want you to get better as soon as possible" and I'm not done making you feel better and the way he looked at her when she said she was "a bad girl"  That was not the look of an innocent manchild who doesn't get that this is turning her on. No that was the look of a kinky sex beast that wants to dangle his worm in front of Amy's face til she bites!  Seriously!  He is that KIND OF FREAKY! lol

I mean with all the innuendos flying out tonight its no wonder Jim and Mayim could keep a straight face either one of them.  SO like i said for that they both deserve Emmys.   I can't wait to see what they do next with them.  I really hope Sheldon never reads Fifty Shades of Grey though I bet Amy is going go out and get a copy if she doesn't already have one.

I just love how sweet, awkward, silly and now KINKY their relationship is and Yes please costume people put Sheldon in more button down shirts and nice slacks again he actually looked sexy in that funeral outfit.

Also the stuff with Howard and his father in law was really cute too and I hope we see more of the parents. I like to see all moms have a mother's day episode luncheon with their kids and go at each other or what would happen if Howard's dad finally came back into his life and Mike tore his old man a new one for abandoning the poor kid.  I think Howard and Mike's relationship could be a really interesting storyline if they continue on with it and don't just drop it like a rock like with Raj and STuart. Where hell is Stuart by way?  lol  Guess we really will have to remember him with nostaligic fondness like Sheldon said.  Is he even still staying with Raj or not?

Loved it!!

I thought the stuff with Howard was a lot of fun and really very touching at the end with his FIL. I actually almost got choked up at the last scene with them when Mr. R says to call him Mike. I'm not familiar with the actor, but I loved the subtlety in the scene where you can see him softening toward Howard.

Just another instance of how this show can be really funny and still give us some real emotional depth.

And, of course, the Sheldon/Amy stuff was hilarious! I think it was great that Sheldon made the choice to take care of Amy not just because of the RelAg, which he admitted was designed to benefit him more than her, but also because he wanted to help her get better. That was a nice maturing step for him to make, even though he was a little impatient and wanted her to get better right away. :p

I do think that Sheldon remains pretty clueless about the pleasure that Amy was getting from his ministrations. I think that he really does have a mostly clinical approach to these things and didn't seem to be hinting at having any kind of pleasure himself at helping her with the bath or understanding why she was getting all riled up with the Vaporub. :p

Loved it!

Fun show, I laughed. Classic set up the guys at the apartment, Kaley was great being the 'man' and yeah Howard had two OCC moments: he caught insects as a child and he also went to Las Vegas so he knows about craps....Mayim was back to her old comic form as Amy. Her scenes with Jim were priceless. Really witty and well written. They are maturing Sheldon, it was obvious from the suit, we're meant to think of him as a man and no longer a man-boy. They finally gave Bernadette some great lines about the drugs. The H/B family dinner, bonding thing was funny but that can belong in any generic sitcom; no thanks.

I'm looking forward to this episode so much and yet I fear it won't air in the uk for some months.

On an unrelated note, re shamy, how come many people on here dig the shamy and yet on any press release/news article regarding TBBT people are slamming the whole shamy/amy thing and wanting her off the show? I love Amy and her relationship with Sheldon, personally, I just don't understand why there's this big difference between opinions on here and opinions elsewhere on the internet.

Before I go on to read any further comments on tonight's Fish displacement episode, I would like to answer your question  if it had not yet already been answered. First of all, whatever the press says or thinks don't mean crap! It's all about the fans of the show that determines what is or what should be important. Although  I grew up as a LP fan, (and I'm not talking about the 12 inch vinyl discs with grooves in it that was used for playing music, although, yeah, I did grow up with that too),  in recent times (fast forwarding here from year 1 to year 6)  SHAMY is stealing the show. I was in stitches tonight with the scenes of Amy on  the couch.  I normally don't like to put down people's opinions but anyone who thinks that Amy ought to be written off the show needs their head examined.

While I'm not as big a shamey fan as some, I have no problem believieing tonights episode. I was going to go into a long boring statement about their characters. Insted I'll just say that I don't expect tonight to change anything and that Amy will probably have to replace Gerard soon.

Enjoyed this one a lot, can't wait to watch it all through again. I think Mayim really ended up stealing the show from Jim tonight—a pretty difficult feat since clueless Sheldon was also hilarious. I loved how her voice cracked on 'spank me harder', and her reactions throughout the episode were priceless.

I think it is easy to reconcile Sheldon's cluelessness in this episode with all of the sexual remarks and innuendo he has made recently: it's all about context. Lately, Sheldon has either brought up the subject of sex by himself or someone else has specifically mentioned it. Leonard's fears were based on sexual jealousy, and he said out loud to Sheldon that he wasn't worried anything would happen between Penny and her study buddy. Sheldon knew the conversation was about sex and then contributed. When sex is implied in conversation (e.g. Penny's remarks in S5) or if the sexual implications of certain actions (e.g. all of tonight's caring) are not made plain to Sheldon, it goes over his head.

Sheldon was playing the caregiver or a parent role in attending to Amy. He did all the things his Mom has done for him when he's been ill before. Punishment by spanking is just an extension of that behavior, as he explained himself. I really do not think that Sheldon had ANY conscious thought about sex or that he thought that Amy did either. This doesn't mean that he doesn't have those thoughts. I just do not think cluelessness should be written off as some kind of coy behavior when it can be explained by other means.

I truly believe that writers will string us Shamy fans along for as long as possible on Sheldon's sexual desires for Amy because thats part of fun, same way they've strung the Lenny fans on Penny's feelings towards Leonard for five years before she finally say ILY.  So I can wait if it takes til season 10 for them to officially have sex, but to be honest its so much fun watching Sheldon and Amy experiment and tease each other and be physical under the disguise of it being just for science or just because Sheldon thinks Amy is sick or whatever other excuse they come up with next time so that nonshamy fans and those who want to keep pretending Sheldon doesn't want her that way or is only asexual can do so for as long as possible.

But, he obviously cares about her very much he said so tonight and I'm sorry, but no man baths a woman, rubs her chest and spanks her just for the hell of it.  I'm not saying these don't have strong ties to what his mother did for him growing up it obviously does and he definitely was playing sweet caregiver to her, but that doesn't dimiss the fact that he may actually be enjoying the things he did to Amy more than he realizes or more than he is willing to admit even to himself.  For example He told her that she wasn't suppose to enjoy her punishment, but he made it clear that he knew she was enjoying it anyway and the fact that he was even willing to do it at all shows he was getting some twisted pleasure of it too cause otherwise he wouldn't have bothered he have just broken up with her for lying to him or made her write on his white board 314 times "I will not lie to my boyfriend"  made her go sit in the corner and think about what she done or make her do chores etc.. but nope Sheldon was one who came up with the idea of spanking her and was eager to get her across his knees so he could do it.  It was all sexual innuendo and jokes put there to make us more comfortable with seeing Sheldon as sexual being and not just a germphobic man child with no knowledge or understanding of sex and lust.  He is a genius and Amy has been throwing herself at him for at least a year by this point so unless we are to believe he is a total MORON its totally plausible that his behavior with her is his way of giving her what he knows she wants and what he secretly wants in a way that seems on surface only innocent, but really is not.  The way he even bother to ask if she wanted his help with the bathing or bothering to spank her or touch her at all shows not only that he cares for her, but that he is willing and eager to touch her now even if he acts as though he doesn't care or doesn't like it.  Just like with the handholding, he still DID IT!

That is not the behavior of an asexual man with no interest in women, sex or being physical at all.  Nope that is behavior of a sexually repressed geek who wants to find ways to touch his girlfriend and pretend as though he doesn't enjoy doing so because of the religious uptight upbringing he recieved growing up and his own fear of getting into a relationship as toxic as his parents.  No wonder he doesn't drink its obvious his father was an alcholic and abused his mother and brother and maybe him as well.  All guys had messed up childhoods with crazy parents and that has affected how they behave now with the women in their lives.  Leonard with his clingingness and over desire to please, Howard with his oedipal complex and thinking Bernadette sounds sexy when she talks like his mother.  Raj with his selective mutism and SHeldon with his sexual repression disguised as mere germphobia.  Please he even said long time ago to Amy that he uses the ancient practice of kolihnar to repress his primitive urges along with drinking lots of chamomille tea.

But, when he can no longer suppress them entirely Sheldon is going to come out guns a blazing and be full on sex manaic because he has repressed his feelings for so long he won't be able to help it and he'll just go nuts obssessed with it like he does with everything else that he gets really into physics, star trek, even playing games.  Sheldon will make Amy beg for mercy and ride her like a cowboy just ya'll wait. He's from Texas, after all need I say more lol :icon_lol:

I agree with this.

I think that the peculiar thing about Sheldon is the difference between his head knowledge and his lack of real experience.

Yes, he knows about biology and he even knows about modesty and certain aspects of propriety. But he doesn't seem to have any real experience with arousal and has dismissed the idea that there is anything worthwhile to come from indulging in such primitive urges.

I do think that there was nothing ulterior, even subconsciously, in his actions or intentions.

OK...I FINALLY got to watch it. I cannot believe they ran a football game at the time that TBBT normally runs in my time zone instead of the show. So I have had to stay up late to watch. Enough of my griping because there is so much that is wonderful!

Love, love, love, love, love the entire episode! love.gif I mean the Howard scenes were hilarious as well. Penny teaching the boys...it was hilarious.

But the best, best, BEST part of the show was Shamy. Where to start because so much has already been said.
1. When Sheldon was telling the guys the Spiderman thing about having sex with a spider, he raised his eyebrows. He definitely has sex on the brain. He has talked about sexual things now in several episodes and that small little motion was significant. eyebrows.gif
2. When he first arrives at the door and explains that the clause in the RA was for him and she would find that funny after she felt better. After his laugh and smile, he then gives her an adorable, only for you Amy look. It was quick and slight...but at the tail end of all that it was there. I loved it. I noticed right off. love.gif
3. When Sheldon stopped in the hallway, my heart stopped right then and there. I could not breathe....it was so pivotal for him. It was Sheldon ridding himself of Selfish Sheldon and now turning into I Love This Woman Sheldon...more than my selfish ways. Awww...how I love that man! love.gif
4. When he pulls out the thermometer, he touches where it had been in her mouth then wipes it off and cleans his hands with sanitizer, but then he leans into her, his arm over her knee and talks to her. He has no problem with any of her germs whatsoever and even feels fine being close enough for her to breathe on him.
5. He carries tic-tacs in his pocket. Now I have never seen Sheldon mention breath mints ever. Remember he thought they were going to a funeral. Could it be that he thought they might share a tender moment? eyebrows.gif
6. He rubs the vapor-rub on Amy without any problem to its texture which he had problems with when he asked Penny to rub it on him several seasons ago. As mentioned by others, this was significant. He really didn't care that it felt funny on his fingers.
7. The way he is reading to her is beyond adorable. He has a sweet smile on his face as he reads her textbook as if a novel. It was so sweet and gosh...there are not words for it. love.gif
8. She asks for more chest rubs, but he wants to put her down for a nap. It was cute the way he said it and how he just goes to answer the door as if he is so at home there.
9. Love when he calls out and asks if she feels strong enough to bathe herself or does she need his help again. Oh my gosh...just the sweet way he said it and was willing to bathe her. Egads, too cute. eyebrows.gif
10. He was worried that she wasn't getting better and had her tested. It was sweet in a way, to care about her that much.
11. He was hurt by her lying...but even though he was hurt, he didn't walk out on her or want to end things. Instead he talks about their relationship being on mutual trust and admiration. He offers the punishment as a means to deter her from ever lying to him again. Awww....love this man! love.gif
12. He just wanted to give her a "minor" punishment because he thinks missing the ST opening was too harsh. I love the way he looks up when he starts to talk about his "old school" punishment his father gave his brother....it was almost like "I need to sell her on this" look and he raised his brow just slightly and dipped a very slight nod...the same look (only less obvious and far more slight) that he gave her when he said he was going to let it slide in the Halloween episode that he blamed on the two tea bags. Then when he said he didn't want to to do it, but that he had to do it. It was just cute the way he did it. And then the way he asks her if she is prepared to receive her punishment...his voice was lower and softer and rather sultry. It was so cute. Love how he smacked his knees asking her to get over his knees. Too cute.

So even though I saw it late, it was so worth it!

Ok, loved it from beginning to end. And not just for the Shamy stuff.

I love Bernadette's mom! And when the guys go "Who do we know that knows how to do manly things?" and Penny opens the door "Sup?". hahah brilliant. I loved the scenes with her teaching Howard how to deal with fishing, and the bonding between him and Bernie's dad was really sweet at the end. "You're an astronaut and your wife makes you do things. And she's 4 feet tall". hahaha.

Sheldon "I put the fun in funeral." LMAO!

The dialogue was brilliant in this one.

Now, the Shamy. So much better than I even imagined. I totally agree with Bazingafan that the spanking scene was completely different from what I envisioned, so much better. Mayim was just brilliant in all the scenes, her deliveries were great, I do think she stole the ep from Jim. I loved her facial expressions when she finds out she's been busted. And I loved the way he starts humming at her while he's rubbing the Vaporub.

But yes, the very opening Shamy scene was a lot more meaningful than anything else in the ep. The way he laughs at/with her about the agreement was adorable (and the way she looks like she's about to smile/laugh too at that one), and the way he comes back to take care of her and not just because it's in the agreement. Sheldon keeps growing. Of course it's something we've never seen him do, that's the whole point, he did things that would normally be OOC for him but he still did it in his own way. And the fact that he's talking about trust in the relationship makes me go awww.

Oh and I'm curious to see what's going to happen in future episodes re: Sheldon knocking on her door. He seems to have keys now. ;)

Biggest pet-peeve. They cut out the one random guy who goes "hehe" when Sheldon pulls out the thermometer from her mouth. LOL. That cracked me up in the promo, I was so waiting for it. lol. Yes, that's the only thing that bugged me in the episode.

I'm sure I'll have more to say at a later time, going to watch it again now :)

Oh, apparently Sheldon has a key to her apartment and feels perfectly comfortable letting himself in... (Or was he borrowing her keys, since she was sick...?)
