Leonard And Penny Shippers Thread (Possible Spoilers)

i got this from the current I.am.molly story

Its extrapolated from when Penny drunk sleeps on Leonard's bed.

What if she doesn't move out. Lol.

She fisnds comfort staying at Leonard's and Sheldon can't get her to move out. They reach a détente, much to Sheldon's disgust. Penny gets intransigent, establishes her territory in Leonard's place and stands her ground - because she wants to be surrounded by Leonard"ness".

At the end of the little arc (say 2nd or 3rd, whatever) Leonard comes up the stairs unexpectedly and goes to Penny's flat - she's gone. He was expecting an S3 type reunion.

Leonard goes across the hall and finds Sheldon and Penny cohabitating, she's there having spaghetti with Sheldon in apparent happy domesticity. Leonard goes all WTF.

The misunderstanding is resolved by the end of the ep.

some fans get unsettled at the outset because it looks bad for their ship, but it resolves happily.

Ah, but does Penny put those little hot dogs in the spaghetti that Sheldon likes?  THAT would really put Leonard over the edge! ;>)

Hi, first post but have been lurking for a few seasons. I haven't seen this suggested yet, so thought I'd put this out there.

Perhaps they may do like on Night Court(remember that show?) with Dan Fielding where his plane went down in the Arctic at the end of one season. Leonard might be "lost at sea" for a few episodes. There could be two stories running in parallel with everybody back home fearing the worst, and Leonard having some mis-adventure.

Welcome gsxdoug

It would love for Leonard to be front and center for a change, but I don't see it happening.  Writers would most likely give us another S05E11 The Speckerman Recurrence episode and we all know how much it stink.

From that article:

"One "Big Bang" relationship that seems solid is Leonard's romance with Penny (Kaley Cuoco), despite Leonard's overseas job. Executive Producer Bill Prady told The Huffington Post that Leonard and Penny have "come to a good place for the moment, so I think maybe they'll get to be happy for a little while."

I have italicized two phrases - not exactly an affirmation of long term peace and harmony for L&P.  Fasten seat belts for air turbulence ahead?  Oy!

Hey Guitars1964

I read the interview and I have to say it didn't leave me warm and fuzzy when it comes to Leonard and Penny relationship.  I have to wonder what is it about this one relationship that the writers love to torture and put it's fans through the wringer.  Why isn't Shamy or H/B given the same treatment?  Are the writers saying they can't come up with any other storylines for Leonard, Penny and Lenny 2.0? Haven't Lenny been put through enough?  Are the writers trying to kill off the relationship due to having a new shiny toy in Shamy?

Also, they writers have to know that this on and off again with Lenny is doing major damage to the relationship.  So, I can only come up with one answer for them doing the things they do to Lenny.

Ahh, i'm not worried. I think any turbulence thrown our way won't be anything permanent. It's probably more like The Spoiler Alert Segmentation, or The Extract Obliteration. They fight, but in the next episode they are pretty much back to normal. There may be some sort of drama that causes it to go past one episode, like after Leonard proposed in bed, but I still don't think there will be another break up. Also I think that the writers sometimes exaggerate things when they are talking to the press in an effort to get people reading to watch the show and see what happens. Like what they did with the Valentines Day proposal. They threw in little hints that someone was going to be proposing, making it into a bigger deal than it actually was because it was an incident that lasted a second! So yeah, I expect bumps in the road, but no major turbulence. Although maybe I am just too optimistic, or naiive, one or the other! haha

Damn I wish I had thought of that... There is just so much that could be done having those two live together! Although I have a feeling Amy wouldn't be too happy with her bestie shacking up with her boyfriend! And the Shenny's would have a field day! Could you imagine the fanfictions coming out of that happening on the show?! haha

OK on your points.  I've got no problem with conflict and arguments between L&P.  That's a typical relationship at times.  Nothing but smooth sailing for them would make it uninteresting to watch.  And it is a situation comedy, so there will be "situations" between and among the main characters that will have to be resolved either during the episode or over more than one episode.  I guess we'll see how far the writers take it.

I hope that the problems they might have are problems established couples would have, and can be attributed to general friction betweeen two people when their relationship goes deeper, and that, in turn, help them grow. As a lot of people have said here to really disrupt Lenny 2.0 would be just a sign of lazy writing. They have gone through so many obstacles that they are due some well deserved (not to mention earned) happiness. I would hope that when Leonard comes back he is greeted by Penny in much the same way she greeted him when he came back from the Artic expedition, but that they get to consumate everything they didn't that time, and that the comedy derives from everybody thinking that when Leonard came back he was going to take care of their problems first. So, yes... I AM expecting everybody's lives to be in disarray due to the fact that the "glue that holds their social group together"  hasn't been there for 4 months.

To use Friends as an analogy, I think we'd all like to see Lenny hereafter treated like Monica and Chandler (Mandler, Mondler, Chanica??) as opposed to Ross and Rachel.

I don't understand the comparison when it comes to Friends since I have never seen one episode and don't wish too.

So, I have to ask why is TBBT constantly compare to this show and it's relationships?

Don't most comedy basically follow the script?

Thanks

Probably because it was another hugely successful comedy that followed the lives of a similar number of people in a similar age range and situation.  Might be opening myself up to ridicule here, but being a big fan of both, I don't think comparison between the two detracts from either one.

I agree.  I think that some people were at one time (or maybe they still do) using the Friends comparison in a negative way, saying that TBBT had gone from being about science and geeky nerds to being all about relationships, then saying it was like Friends, because Friends was supposedly all about who was going to get together with whom, which I don't think was the only issue on that show.

Yes, the characters coupled up, or struggled with dating relationships, but that's not unusual for single people.  And their particular individual issues played into their relationships, either with each other or with others.

TBBT is about a lot of things, and romantic relationships--or lack of romantic relationships--have always been a part of it, to one degree or another.  It's not unheard of for young adults to go out on dates or look for Mr or Ms Right.  And for these guys, the issues that were stumbling blocks to their getting "a hot girlfriend" were their fixations on their nerdy hobbies, their way of overthinking things, applying formulas to how to find girls or how to make friends, etc.

I don't think it's detrimental to draw comparisons between the shows and I don't think that either show is something to be looked down upon.

Still do, although I don't argue about it anymore, for obvious reasons....

Friends was totally implausible, and entirely lacking in any credibility because - except for one time - they always got that couch in the coffee shop. And only one Phd. I totally wasted the ten years I watched and was entirely wrong to have almost wet my self from the turkey on the head gag. So not funny in retrospect. It never should have been on the air. Hate myself.

To be completely fair, L/P had a terrific S6 while the Shamy's second part of the season was an absolute nightmare. Molaro is a self proclaimed LP shipper but he has proven more than once that he doesn't understand the Shamy at all. I think our ship is more in danger to get sunk than yours.

It seems to me that the person who understands Shamy the best is Lorre. At least he's professed his thinks it's sweet and he wants to see them move, as they have, very slowly, with Sheldon digging his heels in all the way

I agree with what ArmyGirl about the comparison of TBBT and Friends.  I have seen some of the episodes of Friends and I do not see a lot of similarities accept the relationships to a point.  As to the humor, I think that TBBT is a lot funnier than Friends.

Yeah. Why is this? I've never seen Friends either except for a random few half episodes. Why the constant parallel?

I love Friends and still do! :) I think a lot of the comparisons between these two shows come from the similarities in the Ross/Rachel and Leonard/Penny relationships. Mainly being that Ross was the geek who loved the popular girl from afar for so long before finally getting the chance to be with her. Although I never really got invested in the R/R relationship, and certainly not to the extent that I have with L/P. Apart from that, I really don't see many other similarities, except maybe that the two main locations in the show are between two apartments.

Anyhow, I don't mind the comparisons, frankly if TBBT is still being shown on television and being watched regularly by people like me so long after the show has even finished it will be a pretty decent accomplishment. Not many comedies can be shown over and over again and still make people laugh every time, and TBBT as well as Friends definitely fall under that category, for me anyway!  :)
