What bother me the most about Season Six finale and the Lenny 2.0 final scene it was the first time that we as the viewers and fans of this ship would get the first mutual 'I Love You'.  I mean we have been waiting on this moment for freaking six years --- I mean think about it freaking 'SIX LONG YEARS' and it was ruined for a lot of us with the Sheldon craziness.  Basically Lenny fans are told that crumbs are what you are going to get --- so you better take those crumbs and enjoy them. Also, I didn't need Sheldon there to scream out that they love each -- that is what the mutual ILY were for.

I resent that Shamy fans were allowed  to have their big moment with minimum of interruption so their fans could celebrate but the same consideration wasn't given to the Lenny fans. Shamy rarely gets overshadowed by the other characters on the show and I would love for once that Lenny 2.0 be allowed the same.

The airport was too much for many people. It really wasn't funny. It seems to me there must be a certain amount of scenes he has to be in. What didn't make sense to me was that he was at the airport but didn't go with Penny to see Raj. For some reason TPTB couldn't go the final three scenes of the season without Sheldon. I'm the one that mentioned that L/P/S are the main characters but Sheldon definitely has more scenes than Leonard and Penny. Would have the show have been worse without Sheldon in the car scene or in the final three scenes?

You know something? You bring up an excellent point. I hadn't thought of that. Both Penny and Leonard at the airport, and Penny with Raj were not supposed to be funny moments, btu rather serious moments, and the only that could convey the importance of the moment was the Raj moment because Sheldon wasn't in it. Kaley and Johnny almost pulled it off because of how well they played it, but it was impossible with the nuisance that Sheldon was being.

If the writers/director/producers had wanted it to be a serious moment (in the car) they wouldn't have written Sheldon into the scene.  They chose that tone (semi-serious) for their own reasons.  It's not as if Sheldon crashed the scene on his own.

I think @Carlos and  @Army Girl get that. I think there just pointing out their disapproval and their reasoning.

I recently discussed the "I wish you were dead" controversy with the some nice people over in the shamy and some remarked that it was awful and painful, like a kick in the guts. Because I am an insensitive rat bastard ( IRB - hahaha lol self mocking), the "I wish you wre dead" comment only struck me as funny in the context as a form of simple bickering within a caring relationship. Yet it caused physical sensations of distress to others.

I think this means I don't really get the Shamy, much as I Ilke Amy. Molly does, but she's not an IRB.

I do think that P/L is seen as much more robust and durable so they get beat on. And being solid now as they are does not payback the accumulated pain and suffering of the past six years. They need longer in the sun.

(Eta; the two ships also means that maybe they doubled their audience, or some smaller multiplier, and that's good for longevity of the show... Also someone counted more L/P stories this year than last... It's just that I (me) believe there is still a backlog in gratification for L/P).

BUT I'M VERY HOPEFUL FOR S7!!

I cant WAIT for season 7! haha I keep on having all these thoughts of what could happen during the season, because i'm pretty certain there is going to be some more drama between them, but drama similar to season 6. I think anything they have happen to them will be fixed either within the episode or over the course of a couple of episodes. But the one thing i keep imagining is the scene where Leonard comes home. There is just so many ways they could play it out and i'm so excited :) I'm even like dying to get to the point where i write it into my fanfiction because i know exactly the way i want it to go - although im almost certain the way i have it i my head isn't the way the writers will have it!

I also really hope they dont bring him back in the first episode. I want to see a bit of life without Leonard. Not long of course, two episodes and then have him return on the third i think would be cool. I can't believe how close it is too, only another couple of months to wait :)

It would be sort of nice to see life without Leonard for at least one episode.  I would like to see a unhappy Sheldon, all his friends pulling their hair out because they have hit the end of thier rope with him and a Penny who realizes how much she misses Leonard and being so exicted he is going to be home soon.

That's the fun of Fan Fiction.  You get to be the screenwriter and take the characters anywhere you want them to go.  And it doesn't matter what the show's writers are going to do.  For your own FF, you are in charge.  You should get to your laptop soon and get all that creativity on the Leonard's return scenario onto paper, so to speak.  If the muse is speaking, don't let it pass!

Haha i can't do it yet. I have a basic outline written down, but since i'm only at the part where Leonard has been gone a month in my story, to jump ahead and write his return wouldn't feel right. Especially because i have a habit of changing the way i want things to go once i start writing out the chapters. I just need to wait until i finally get to the point where he comes back. It's not too bad though cos i still have a lot of other stuff to put in so i'm kept pretty busy! :)

And SRAM, i think what you have said is pretty spot on to what i think we will see too. I can almost see the first scene as Penny and Sheldon bickering over something really stupid and then have everyone being like i can't wait till Leonards back so we dont have to deal with him anymore haha

This break has so much potential for disruption, hopefully in ways we can't foresee but that are still good. Ie no drownings, love affairs or realisations that he truly loves Sheldon and can't live without him and Penny was a smokescreen. Lol hahahahahahahahah. Ho hum.

Eta. I think that's in ff somewhere. Lol. <= joke.

Won't happen!  After the D&D episode and Sheldon putting down Leonard and praising Howard, I feel the writers were saying that Leonard isn't all that important to the group anymore.  Amy and Penny can do all the things that Leonard does for Sheldon, Howard and Raj still gets to do the things with Sheldon.  So why is Leonard needed or why would Leonard be missed?

The writers have been excluding Leonard for a while and if he wasn't in a relationship with Penny there would be no use for him on the show.  He doesn't get storyline that is about him, look at the finale for Season Six, it wasn't about Leonard it was about Sheldon and Penny and how they were affect when Leonard got the job opportunity.   Leonard wasn't the main focus and he was pushed to background for most of the episode.

Wow. You really are being overly negative here. I think the fact that Sheldon was freaking out so much about Leonard leaving in the finale proves how important he is to the show. And if you really think that if there was no Penny then he would have no place then... well i don't know what to say. And let's be fair, in the finale episode there were only a few scenes that he wasn't involved in. To say he was pushed to the background is a huge exagerration.

I would absolutely love to see something like this! Leonard comes home early and to surprise everyone, alone. He opens the apartment door to find Penny, Sheldon, and Amy all screaming at one another. After four months, the girls find Sheldon beyond infuriating and Sheldon believes the girls are totally inept, he was unable to train them as well as he trained Leonard. The yelling pauses as they all realize Leonard is standing in the living room. We hear a high-pitched girlish scream of profound delight and it's Sheldon. He runs and throws himself into Leonard's arms, still squealing like girl, like Penny did when Leonard returned from the North Pole. The kiss, optional.

You wanna know what is so awesome about that? I can actually picture the whole thing in my head. The girlish scream from sheldon and him running over to him, pushing Penny out of the way haha just perfect.

I'm sorry, but this view is just melodramatic hair-pulling.

Leonard has always been and will always be the center of the group.  He's also a go-between for several of the characters, providing a buffer between those who grate on each other, like between Sheldon and Howard or even between Penny and Sheldon in many cases.

They have not minimalized his role or his importance to the group.

Sheldon freaking out that Leonard will not be around over the summer is a given. It is a theme of Sheldon's dependency on others and especially Leonard. My question is why the length of expedition and why Stephen Hawking? The reason I keep thinking is that Leonard will establish an ongoing working relationship that will continue to irritate Sheldon and recognize Leonard in Physics community. Emails, Letters of Accomplishment, etc. For Penny, over the summer she completes community college and gets her AA. Maybe get an acting job as the voice of a cartoon character.

Okay, I agree that is very funny, with a little modification.  Leonard has to stand outside, the apartment door, for a couple minutes listening to everything, then when he walks in the girls are standing in the middle of the living room, thier backs to him, screaming at Sheldon who is standing on the raised area to the hall.  Sheldon, of course sees him first and does exactly like you said, except he gives him a hug, not a kiss (gross). Penny turns around and you see her looking at Leonard, tears in her eyes, then she pushes Sheldon away (Amy pulls him back) and gives Leonard a bear hug, says she missed him and loves him, then takes him to her apartment, where they are not heard from for two days.   If the writers want to wind up his return in one scene, that is both funny and heart-warming.  Good idea 5MIssissippis.

I think that Leonard being gone will cause the group to fall apart. They'll break up into H/B, S/A, Raj will be off hunting women (now that he can talk to them), and Penny won't see any of them except in passing. They'll all be unhappy to various degrees with this but it will take Leonard's return to do something about it.

I also think that Amy will have a vastly improved appreciation for Leonard, after having to put up with Sheldon all Summer. And perhaps Sheldon as well after being with Amy all Summer.

All of your theories are fun but they tend to forget that Amy and Sheldon are alike and that she LOVES his quirks. Sheldon doesn't need to "train her", she's already thinking exactly like him (cf. the dog boy comment in 6.15 for a recent example).

Yup. My goodness, what if she crosses over and become more like Sheldon (again). House training people like pets. <=joke. Heheheh.

But positively, I hope they do miss Leonard, but that iit doesn't go too far and reinforce the dependency. Else it's another obstacle to L/P. they all have to become functional at some point. Maybe Sheldon got a drivers license under Penny's instruction.

Apparently you weren't paying attention at the end of season 6, episode 16.

Scene: Amy’s lab. Phone rings.

Amy: Hello? Another medical emergency? What’s wrong with him now? I seriously doubt he was bitten by a Chinese bird spider. How exactly does a bump feel Asian? Just put him on the phone. Sheldon, I am not driving over there again. Because I drove over there yesterday for a brain tumour that turned out to be an ice cream headache. Yes, I still want to be your emergency contact. Yes, you can eat your ice cream too fast and also have a brain tumour. I’m on my way. Brain tumour would explain a lot.

Now imagine a whole Summer of that, without Leonard to run interference. I.e. 24/7.

Gonna have to disagree here. Unlike Leonard who primarily submits to Sheldon's will, Amy balks. She did it twice. During The Friendship Contraction when she refused to take Sheldon shopping because of her addiction studies and then at the end of the Valentine's Day episode. After Sheldon made her his Emergency Contact, Sheldon was abusing it and Amy was clearly frustrated.
