ArmyGirl Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) I'm dying to see how Leonard is handling this with Penny. Happy Belated Birthday Carl1970. Yay, we have 3000 post in our thread. Edited July 29, 2013 by ArmyGirl
ArmyGirl Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) During Season 7 I wish that Leonard would finally have friend that's female and he could have moments like P/S have. I want to know how he would happen a friend that happen to be a girl with no romantic interest going either way. Leonard don't get to interact much with Bernie or Amy that much and I think it's sad. He never been out with the girls or anything. He is always stuck with the guys and Penny. eta: I know this won't happen, even if it would great to see on the show. eirwinrommel Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 I had an inspiration about how to get Shatner into the show. We meet Sheldon's MeeMaw, and her new boyfriend played by Shatner.
Chrismo Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 More Season 7 info "You're going to be surprised with how Leonard's handling the distance with Penny," Steve Molaro tells THR. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/big-bang-theory-boss-previews-594416 There's crying going on on the Shamy site. Threatening not to watch the show cause Penny/Sheldon are going to spending time together. I'm missing the point why people are upset over this. Threatening not to watch the show cause Penny/Sheldon are going to spending time together. I'm missing the point why people are upset over this. I get it. They hoped for more. The L/P slow, twisted journey was rather horrible but now it's a lock, pretty much. The S/A is unique and they want to see it run faster. That's fair. Its also NOT the announcement one might want to hear. And thats probably all I'll say about the other ship. But 24 eps contracted and more expected means TPTB feel they have to drag things out. Six years for L/P and not even co-habitation; as evidence. Also S/P feeding is discomforting. As you put it six years with L/P welcome to the Lenny world. As Mary would say you have to take your time with Sheldon. I'm not sure why S/P feeding is discomforting. Threre were seasons with no Amy period. It seems to me there has always been storylines with S/P I'm not sure how this is any different. Nogravitasatall Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 (edited) The announcement was sufficiently qualified that it eliminated any prospect of a shenny hookup. But I have such a personal, visceral response to the idea of that, after mistakenly thinking I could read a shenny story, then discovering what an M rating can mean in ff land and being surprisingly deeply affected by it (ETA trembling ff virgin that I was). So for me, after seeing in my minds eye, Penny and Sheldon "at it", graphically, I now am discomforted by the very thought. Raj and Penny unseen and hinted at didn't bother me at all, funnily enough. But words have power. its just my personal response. Very wussie I know. Edited July 29, 2013 by Nogravitasatall
hamerman55 Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 It would be funny if they had Leonard's father come by with his waitress girlfriend. They could cast an actor that looks a lot like Leonard, even in height, and cast a girl that looks like a little older version of Penny. It would be so funny when they meet and the guys would be going 'What the Frack!' In a much earlier post I suggested Courtney Thorne-Smith. She looks a lot like Penny, and has worked with Lorre. Another option would be Heather Locklear.

Copy-pasting a part of my post about this from the Shamy thread: They need to stop this nonsense. It's not even about the fact that S/P gets more screentime than S/A; it's about the fact that what made S/A magical is gone and that they're giving everything Amy was created for over to Penny. If the purpose was to see Sheldon and Penny get closer emotionally to the point where she's the only one he can count on, then why even create Amy and the Shamy? What was the bloody point in that? They lost view of what made S/A. They lost it because they want to keep milking that coddamn cow as much as they can. Well I'm sorry but there are other ways to slow the Shamy down than having such a skewed thing where his bloody Emergency Contact isn't even good enough to help him cope with the absence of his best friends. They could have had Sheldon tell her that he does want to have sex with her one day, but he's not ready, and that would have done the trick. Amy would have understood, because she's Amy and she always understands him. That's why he's let her into his life in the first place: because she's more similar to him than anyone he's ever met. But now, they've taken that away to cater to a certain part of the audience who hates Amy. And I just don't get it. Also you were the one crying everywhere about Kaley not getting an Emmy nom or Sheldon being in the airport ILY scene so you're really not one to talk about what is overreacting and what isn't. @Disgusted: I think you made a mistake when you registered your username you actually wanted to type in "Disgusting". Now they know what Lenny fans felt during Season 3 (used for fodder for Sheldon) and all the other times we got the rug pulled from under us. Lenny was punched, kicked, slapped, stomp on, and more for freaking six years. Also some of the very people that are whiny now are the ones that loved every minute of Penny and Sheldon antics and didn't give a darn that Leonard and Lenny was being ignored and basically destroyed for some viewers. Now that the shoe is on the other foot they cry foul.

Guest DroneInTheSun Posted July 29, 2013 Posted July 29, 2013 And if some people want to watch just for one thing it's their right. There's not one right way to watch a show. I didn't come in for the Shamy because the Shamy wasn't even here before S4 but I really hated S3 and wouldn't have stuck around if it hadn't been for the Shamy. Now that they've taken away the only thing I liked about this anymore I'm not going to keep watching a show I won't like to whine about it on a forum (I'm not Moonbase tyvm), just like I stopped watching plenty of shows before. BangerMain Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Well, evil mother/mother-in-law is a long established theme, so you are probably right. It would be clever of TPTB if they turned it around. One can only hope. It's a standard on any Chuck Lorre show that the hero's mother is a pure nut cruncher. "Dharma and Greg", "Two and a Half Men", "The Big Bang Theory" or "Mike and Molly" all feature Mothers from Hell.

hamerman55 Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 I'm not sure I would read much into Molaro's comments. This interview is the opening salvo of the campaign to get everyone to watch. He's saying provocative things to get forums and such fired up. With no new episodes or even taping reports we're all hanging on any hint to how the season will start out. So far, I believe that they will not bring Leo ard back in the first episode. I believe that Sheldon and Penny will bond a bit over missing Leonard. I don't believe that it will go any further than the ersatz sibling relationship they have, and things will settle down as soon as Leonard comes back. Penny annoys Sheldon far too much in practice. Personally, I think Molaro is reading far too much into the degree of closeness between Penny and Sheldon on screen. They may be tight as wax in real life, but the characters annoy the fool out of each other. I can think of only one instancein six years that Sheldon has done something altruistic for Penny, and that was to take her to the hospital when she fell in the shower. His payback for that was a ticket and missing a chance to meet Stan Lee. All other times he has helped her out involves things that are not important to him. Sheldn is basically a selfish character, while Penny and Leonard are generous. Sheldon has also made i clear, most recently in the D&D episode that he wouldn't consider emotional or physical intimacy with anyone else other than Amy. The only ship you're up against is the Shenny ship jfc. Am I missing something? Molaro stated about Penny and Sheldon: "She is like the big sister who is taking care of him -- or sort of a mother figure". About Amy's feeling on the subject: "I don't think Amy sees Penny as a threat. She loves Penny". Penny playing the part of Sheldon's mother is a theme that has been around since the third season. Leonard plays the part of Sheldon's father. Malaro dismisses any romantic future for S/P because it is impossible the way the characters have developed. It does make sense that Penny is the first line of care for Sheldon. She's 20 feet away from his apartment and Leonard asked her to take care of him. A couple of things are happening with Malaro, IMO. He came out as a flat out "Lenny" earlier this year and he may as well have since this has been suspected for years. He was believed to be against the Lorre ordered break-up of L/P during season three and gets kidded about his affinity for Leonard, with whom he admittedly identifies. He has been criticized in the non-Lenny fan base (read: Shenny) as being down right hostile to any contact between Sheldon and Penny, who do have funny moments together since they are such ill-fitting characters. When Malaro was asked the question about Shenny romantic relationship he seemed almost too eager to profess that he was not prejudice at all about Sheldon and Penny interactions, he reacted like: You got me all wrong, I love both characters and we will show more of the emotional closeness you want. He's throwing the Shennys a bone. (By the way, there are two types of Shennys; romantic and friendship, he's going to reward the friendship Shennys). Over at the Shenny Live Journal, they are not buying this peace offering at all. They still hate his statement and Malaro, just as much as ever. As far as they are concerned, he is still the devil incarnate. . Still, he can't have his cake and eat it too. Any slice to the Friendship Shennys will appear to come from the Shamy cake. Secondly, he still wants to show how much all the characters love and support each other, which is a big thing with him that he mentions all the time. This is what Chuck Lorre, teased him about last winter. He wants them all to end up happy and his approach went over big in season six so you can't knock it with results like this. It will be interesting how he is going to pull this off in Season 7. One things is assured, with Malaro the Lenny is secure for the long run. I agree with you in reading too much into Molaro's comments. To me his comments weren't even that provocative. I thought what he said if anything was to me predictable. While I agree that S/L are more like siblings I think Sheldon/Penny are closer than you think. Without Leonard there Penny is Sheldon's best friend.(Howard the acquaintance in Bozeman episode and Raj being replaced by Kripke in another). Penny handles him IMO better than the guys. She actually put up with his crap before she tends to lose it with him. Over the years Sheldon has actually asked Penny things he doesn't understand. Lionne Posted July 30, 2013 Posted July 30, 2013 Off topic. I looked at tvtropes yesterday and it notes that L/P and S/A ships are trying to civil to each other. The trope might be Ship Mates. this goes on the large list of things I never knew but will bear in mind. They label everything there. I was entertained. Okay, "shipmates" for two ships on the same show who are trying to work together, or should be allies, is pretty clever. I love that. I am really surprised, though, by the acrimony here and on this other forum you mentioned between Lenny and Shamy shippers. Perhaps it's because I come from Fan Forum, where being polite in all threads is enforced, but I spent two seasons over on that forum only, and on TWOP, before coming to this particular forum as well. I never saw massive Shamy vs Lenny fan arguments until I came here. Now I read that there's another forum where Lenny's and Shamy's have to make an actual effort to be nice to each other? Where did this even come from, or start? I find it illogical - I ship both and most people I know ship both (but one always more heavily than the other), so I have no experience with where any of the tension comes from. Can I be informed thusly?
