Well I have seen the Shenny safe zone and it reminds me more of the twilight zone.

Back to L/P, if you watch the reruns and then season 6, the characters jump out at you that they are more mature and it makes you wonder even more why the L/P relationship is not further along. Howard and Bernadette have been married all season and Penny acts more like Bernadette than Amy, on girls night out, so it makes you wonder what is holding the writers back. The whole concept of the hot girl across the hall, the nerd desires, is gone, Penny is now fully integrated into the group.

This is the failure embedded in success and why rom-coms last 90 minutes. GOT runs to about 2ft of shelf space. I think TBBT the novel won't run that long, but I know some are trying (lol). They have have little choice but to dilute and slow down. One of the writers said they have kids to educate (comic con) so if that's a driver they will try and stay in formula for as long as possible. Unless they are really up to the challenge and can morph the show. Don't know any examples of success there, off hand.

Well, money is the driver, let's face it.  A long run of a successful show means money for everyone.  I would guess that if they thought they could keep it going for 15 seasons, they'd do it (TV Western "Gunsmoke" ran for 20 years).  But that would probably mean dragging out some of the "will they or won't they" tension.  Unless the writers really hit a dry streak on ideas, I'd bet that what would bring the show to a conclusion in the next couple of years would be lead actors deciding to move on to other projects.  Sometimes there is that dream of making the transition from TV star to movie star.

I am totally opposed to safe zones but I realise I have to abide by the rules of the forum. The safe zone was set up for theShenny shippers who , I believe, were way too sensitve about negative comments about them and their ship. my reply to this would have benn "Sticks and stones.............." .'

I am wondering about cast members. I am a huge Kaley Cuoco fan, can I ask for a safe zone for her?

First, I like the idea of sections of a forum that have rules, and this one's rule is that we don't attack the L/P ship. I would also include no killing off characters or other violence. This is a fairly gentle TV comedy. If I want violence, I'll watch and discuss some other show.

Second, I view the L/P and S/A ships as complementary, and cross-reinforcing. That is that L/P and S/P make each other stronger. One obvious way is that the three important people in Sheldon's daily life push him toward a nerd-based normality. He's pretty far outnthere, and L/P/A are pulling back into the human race. To the extent they succeed, life is easier on L/P and gives them space for their relationship. We've seen that Sheldon respects no boundaries and has no ability to endue discomfort, but Amy's presence tend to mitigate that. If he has a bug up his ass about something, he has no qualms about waliking into Leonard's room or Penny's apartment to demand satisfaction, without knocking. In fact, if he doesn't knock, it is clear he has a demand that must be satisfied immediately (as a side note, as a teacher I've found that the current high school and college generation have this as a common trait. My colleagues and I have found that students cannot endue the least discomfort, nor can they defer satisfaction. In fact, this is coupled with their short attention span. Thwart their demand for immediate satisfaction, they don't follow up.). Having Amy around tends to give something else for Sheldon to focus upon, besides Leonard and to a lesser extent, Penny. He responds to her needs, while he couldn't care less about Leonard's and Penny's. Amy reminds Sheldon of other's needs. The tenure episode was a great example of this.

Oh its a Safe Zone now aha. Alright.

Can´t wait for Season 7. Season 6 was just great.

I just hope they don't stagnate the characters or worse make them backtrack. I would really like to see Penny have another epiphany about her love for Leonard, when he comes back.

I trust the writers. So lets hope for the best.

Wish I could say I trust the writers.  They have done too many things (that hurt the character(s) too many times) for me give them my blind trust.  What's that saying 'trust but verify'?

The writers sometimes are a bit devious. : P

Anyway, I really wish Amy/Bernadette trip will happen after Leonard is back. I would like to see Lenny taking some sort of vacation together or something like that. Not sure though what is really going to happen...

I would love for the writers to pen a Leonard and Penny vacation but it will never happen.  I am worry about Leonard homecoming and how it will be handle.  As of right now I don't  have warm feelings that it will be given a lot of attention since the show runner is more into the happenings between Sheldon and Penny friendship bonding and less about Leonard and his coming home.

I think the one thing they will go for is longevity. I can live with the relationship status quo NOW as long as they have interesting situations. They can entertainingly bounce around within the parameters they have. The trend will continue upwards for all them, but any huge breakouts would have to saved for the final season. There should be a bit of wobble, for drama, but I don't think they have to ever go wholesale creatively destructive as they had previously.

I do want to see Penny and Leonard wake up together. I loved those bed scenes. So cute. They have to revisit the "thank you" bit too and have Penny make Leonard feel better about that.

There was a link on twitter, with a link to Season 7 "spoilers" for the coming season. One of the comments for the opener was "Sheldon and Penny bond over missing Leonard, well as much as Sheldon could bond with anyone over anything."
