There's this thing about roles that TBBT are casting for January tapings, no sides yet though... don't really know how legit this is but it's something right?

 

It is being interpreted as they are casting for bodies to play college students for next months taping.  Another fragment indicates it's for four roles but this information exchange site for college student work is down.

I also began to see the show for the relationship of Leonard and Penny. From the first chapter it is clear that these two are the canon couple of the show. Great topic.

U know I've been thinking that Leonard moving in with penny is a little improbable but you have convinced me otherwise haha I'm hoping to see some change in the living arrangements... maybe the season finale will introduce something like that

It could be the next issue for them to have relationship drama about ie. " let me move in, it makes sense" vs "no, no, you're smothering me, back off or I'll do something..."

The writers may keep them living together for some continuity with the past but it would start to get a little weird. You have two financially independent, 30 somethings in committed relationships with women, who choose to stay roommates rather than make the normal transition to a female nest. Sheldon is not ready but Leonard differently is.

 

That's one of the reason there is so much talk on this forum about L/P future living arrangements. Its the natural progression for a relationship at this stage where the ILYs have been exchanged and (soon) the inner most thoughts.

 

The writers could keep S and L living together for the next few years but that will require keeping Penny and Amy from going into "nesting" mode.

You are probably right about the move. Maybe instead, cohabitation will be the next windmill for Leonard to tilt at. He and Penny are already physical. Why move Leonard, when leaving Leonard and Sheldon together keeps the relationships thrumming. It also keeps the boys apartment as the hub of the action. The lovers will have to just commute. I hope Penny and Leonard can wait. But I don't think Penny has been packing her trousseau anyway. It could at sometime run as a triangular tug of war between romantic L/P, platonic L/S and romantic S/A.

Yea i think that if they are still together then something is going to change in season 7... at least it very well should.  It's time for them to "grow up" a little bit for lack of a better term.  They are both adults in committed relationships and i think that after as long as they will hvae been dating when we get there then it would be the next logical step in their relationship.  

 

There is a lot of call for a proposal or for other kinds of relationship improvements but i think that the living situatino should be addressed before they can really move on to anything else.

I know how you feel  They were what drew me too the show in the first place as well.  I find Leonard to be a very relatable character (at least to me) and his relationship with Penny is always very fun to watch!

Very true, that is why Penny moving in with Leonard would work because it keeps Leonard with Sheldon, it keeps the core three characters together in the central apartment, it moves the Penny/Leonard relationship along and we all know that Penny and Sheldon in the same apartment is really going to be funny. Also, it could be temporay so she could finish school (and get a different job), and the writers can see if the fans like L/P together or they could have her go back to her apartment. I'm sure they could figure some storyline where she is only in a temporary situation with her apartment. They could even come up with a story where one of the gang uses her apartment for the time she can't afford it (sublet). Wouldn't it be funny if Amy moved across from Sheldon for about six months.

But seriously, i am now speculating if Penny will fight to retain her indepence.

She has accepted financial aid from Leonard, but remember "No, Leonard, this is my thing." , when he offered to help with the college paper. She wants to make it on her own ( she did compromise on the paper, but not with Leonard). Unless compelled, why would she cave and move in with him. What plausible change could compel her and not break her feistiness. (Bullheadedness)

Well for starters I would like to think love... just because she's independent doesn't mean she should avoid living with Leonard. When your in love that is a logical step in your relationship.

There could also be something that forces it too happen... whether that's loss of job, problem with apartment,new level of beta testing or some other issue. Something that makes it basically the only option.

I agree penny is a very self reliant person and after all she's been through its very understandable. However we've seen that slowly changing as she's been maturing through this season and I would love to see a big step like this for them in the future

Penny would have to be in a serious money situation and for once understand that Leonard loves her and only wants her to be happy, so that is were he is coming from. With the ILY now there it would be a good time for her to make a relationship leap with Leonard. She could also tell him she will only accept the situation until she completes school or gets a new job. That way she still reaffirms her independence but still takes some help from Leonard because she does love him. I think that would work. Penny is suppose to be getting better in season 6 so her talking things out with Leonard would be a character improvement for Penny.

Well, I bought into the love thing at s1.1, so what do I know. . Call me easy. And logic gets run over by biology sometimes. But then the show ends. She won't forget to go to the drugstore. .

The Leonard/Penny interaction is what attracted me to the show at first, then I just enjoyed the whole show. I bought off on the Leonard/Penny love affair right off and that is one of the interesting parts of the show for me, in between the laughs. I sometimes think that the shows writers are comedy writers, therefore are not experienced in writing romance and they try to keep the fans interested by always keeping Leonard and Penny on the edge in their relationship. Logically, in the real would, Penny would have already decided if she wants to spend the rest of her life with Leonard and she would have discussed their future together and moved in together, after all the have liked each other for almost t six years, been a couple, off and on, for almost four, and loved each other since they go back together (Penny just admitted it Leonard recently, she told the girls much earlier and let on to it while they were broken up). It woûld be nice if they would start doing some of this stuff in the show now with Leonard and Penny.

I think it would be nice if they had an episode or even two where Leonard was in control and Penny was the one who did it when he wanted. They would have to come up with a good reason that Leonard doesn't want to do it with her every time, but I think it would be funny for Penny to be turned down by him and her having to work for it. The story would have to not be too trashy though, because I don't like trashy Penny. I would like to see her get a shy with Leonard over the whole thing, like she is worried and wants to have relations but is scared she is going to mess up. This could be another character development thing for her too, because sex is another thing she takes Leonard for granted with. It could be really funny her talking to the girls how she misses it with Leonard, but is sort of uncomfortable talking about it.

It looks like it has already started. Leonard turned Penny down in the last Christmas episode. I think the tide has begun to swing his direction. I think the January 3 episode will be beneficial to Leonard too since good things happen to him when Alex is on.

To be faux nerdy - because I did a subject like 30 years ago and this is probably old hat now or wrong: "Maslow's hierarchy". Penny/Leonard will climb up the pyramid together. But sex will always be an issue because they depict relatable humans. Might be funny if they flip the paradigm there and have Penny whinge like the panting male stereotype. But they don't have to exaggerate to find the funny. Every couple has timing issues.

The long run challenge for the couple is what happens after sex. But I'm not worried. I'm taking Bernadette's words in as prophecy.

Bernadette: Don’t worry. You’ll have plenty of chances to break up with him. Your wedding day, your honeymoon, your 50th anniversary.

I am starting to see your logic C-Trayne but I want to see a few more L/P episodes before I am fully on board that their relationship is on firm ground. I forgot about Leonard refusing sex from Penny last episode, and instead of getting mad she teased him with that fashion show, so that is a good relationship moment for them. I really want to see a few more episodes to get a better feel on where the writers are going with them. The characters don't know as much about each other as we know about them, so it is difficult sometimes to see what is planned for L/P.
