Bit worried he's going that way again. If Jim puts on weight it goes to his face. I'm the same and I hate it because it makes me look so different and doesn't suit me. Jim looks like a different man depending on how heavy he is.

The reason he looked like that in s4 is he had been sick and had a dental issue. He's fine now. And I MEAN fine!

Not to be an annoying know-it-all or anything but Jim got skinny in season 4 because he was running everyday, not because of his tooth problems. He mentioned the weight loss in an interview. He got seriously addicted to running and had to stop himself when he realised he hated how he looked. Sorry... annoying know-it-all it is then…

I can vouch for that since I was the one who started the thin-because-of-dental-surgery piece of gossip. It did percolate through a number of nodes. :icon_redface:

I watched a post-Emmy interview he did back when he was so skinny and he looked like he'd been in a gulag or something--you could see every bone and muscle in his face and his neck was so scrawny. He just didn't look good.

I loved the way he looked on Leno last night--his hair looked really nice, not too short, not too long or plastered down, and he looked very nice in that suit (and those stripey socks! (although his shoes were too low-cut to hide the white square on the heel...) I did notice that his legs looked very slim in the pants when he was sitting with his legs crossed. I don't know if the pants were slim-cut or whatever, but even so, he looked great.

I think that sometimes I see a bit of a tummy on him, but I think he's just kind of slouchy at times and he's a little soft in the middle, like he doesn't have a "six-pack" or whatever. It's funny that he's self-conscious about his body--like the way he wouldn't wear the Princess Leia costume he was originally supposed to wear in the Steven Hawking episode and agreed to wear the French maid costume instead. Apparently he didn't want to bare his abdomen because he wasn't in shape (he said something like if he had six months warning or whatever, presumably so he could get in shape or something)

He has said that he's never had a problem with weight, and apparently running or doing the elliptical is about all he does in terms of working out. He does seem pretty agile, though, judging by the exercise segment he did with Kelly Ripa.

Didn't he say something once about being high-strung like a Chihuahua? :p

Quoting is totally glitching right now but anwyay, yes, THIS IS TRUE. That's why Jim was so skinny and he said it himself. Not sure he'd allow himself to get to that point again since he realized it on his own and didn't like it.

So its all YOUR fault for my post above? :)

Yes, and the funny thing is that I didn't even make that comment here, I think I did it on imdb. It really did spread. :p

In my defense, Jim mentioned his dental surgery (getting his wisdom teeth out) on Craig some time during season 4. Since this was shortly after his too-thin period, and oral surgery can cause temporary weight loss, I made the connection. Later I realized that he hadn't specified the time - he may have had the surgery years back - and he himself went on record to say that he had lost weight because of too much running.

Phanta - I love your in-depth analysis of Jim's looks. :) I think he had started having a bit of a tummy during season 5, but he's lost it now.

I think that in the Craig interview they were talking about whether or not Jim had ever had surgery. He had been talking about having visited a friend in the hospital and then Jim was talking about how he'd never broken a bone, etc, and said he'd never had surgery, then corrected himself to say that he had had dental surgery. But it seemed to me that it had been sometime ago, not anything recent, since he wasn't quite sure whether or not he'd had all four wisdom teeth out. If he'd had it done recently he would have known for sure. :p

I think he looks even younger and more like he did in earlier seasons.  I love season 5, but Sheldon/Jim bulked up in that season and it made him look different now he's back to looking more like old Sheldon. He's not too skinny though he actually kept some of that muscle in his arms from season 5 which I like.  He just doesn't need to lose anymore or gain again just maintain. I also noticed in tonight's episode Johnny's face looks smaller again.  He looked puffier and chubby a bit at beginning season especially when he lifted his shirt and said GO SPORTS!  But now he's looking slimmer again it must be tough cause over hiatus they probably let them selves go a bit then have to get back in shape for tv cause it adds pounds and with the layers of clothes that make Leonard wear Johnny has to stay small to not look chubby in those clothes.
