Kaizen
First of all, what the hell is true love anyway? Is there an empirical definition I am missing? Have they had their oxytocin measured and compared to those of the rest of the population to be able to claim they know what true love is and people who find Shamy appealing don't? In any case, when it comes down to those types of arguments it means they are grasping at straws because they can't find anything else to say on the subject except admit they are wrong. End of story. Let's move back to Shamy goodness. I just read on Tumblr a spoiler that Amy will come to Sheldon's rescue in 6x18 about getting the kids excited about science! I'm so digging this plot!! Wait, what kids...Amy's pregnant????
koops
Wait, what kids...Amy's pregnant???? LOL! They're already in junior high. Shamy are so unique that they even reproduce unlike any other human. Overnight and through eye-coitus and the baby Homo Novuses are so evolved they reach age 11 in a week. No, sides came out a while ago that the guys are in a school trying to get kids interested in science careers, but they were only for Howard, Leonard and Sheldon. Now apparently Amy is involved too Edited February 12, 2013 by spook

I didn't dare hope for more Shamy interaction after the past few episodes, but yay!
phantagrae
Maybe I shouldn't bring this up, but I saw something in that other thread (that one) and it infuriated me. One of the usual complainers essentially said that anyone who has experienced true love would not find the Shamy story appealing. I didn't want to start a war over there so I'm ranting here with like-minded people. I take great offense to that. It's patronizing, hits below the belt, and IMO is completely untrue. It's certainly untrue in my case. I am drawn to the story for its complete sweetness. Clearly these are two characters who haven't a clue how to navigate a romantic relationship, but have stumbled upon the right person which gives them the motivation to figure it out. Gradually over time they have gone from being very standoffish with people to finding their way into each other's hearts. It's not at all conventional, but that doesn't make it wrong. It absolutely is not a sign of dysfunction if a person is touched by this story. Oh, I commented all over that.

I am hoping that means Bernie is there as well because we all know how she is with kids. Not sure how Penny will fit in this episode, but somehow I would think they have to include her somewhere. phantagrae
Junior high were the worst years of my life. *shudder* I dunno--junior high was great for me. I even had a kinda-sorta boyfriend for about a month. It was in junior high that I switched to bassoon, which led me to my current career, and in junior high where I met a lot of the foiks I would be friends with throughout high school, and one of my best friends even now (we've known each other for 40! years now!) and also during junior high that I started playing in the Albuquerque Youth Symphony program (in 8th grade I played 1st chair Clarinet in the Valley Junior Orchestra) which also started me down my current career path. For me it was the beginning of so many good things. And I even had fun!
saweco
Oh, Amy to the rescue! Love it! I'm so happy there'll be a taping tonight. It's always a highlight of my week when I can indulge in my spoiler greediness. A nice taping report should help tide us all over until Thursday night when we get our V-Day goodness. Also, to that ridiculous comment about it not being "true love". I give them a big 'WHATEVER'. Grasping at straws I tell ya. My husband and I met as acquaintances, then friends, and then just realized one day we were meant for each other. Every love story is different. The Shamy love story is adorable, unique, and lovely and in my opinion is beyond compare to anything else on television.
MJistheBOMB
One of BBT production members recognized me today. He said, "You're here every week." LOL. He's actually in the flash mob video right in front, plaid shirt (?). I told him a few weeks back he dances really well. He said, "thank you, it was a lot of fun." Razberrypie
There's a documentary series over here in the UK I always love watching called "The Undatables" where people with various disabilites are matched up to other people using specifically designed dating agencies. There was a woman on there who had severe OCD which meant that she couldn't even touch her own mother because her aversion to physical contact was so extreme. She said that having a man in her life to be there for her and share her interests ( and go to science lectures with ) could be the only way to help her take steps towards physical contact through a deep bond of trust. They matched her up to this really wonderful guy who was so patient and so intruiged by her that he was willing to wait because he found her so smart and pretty and blew her a really cute kiss at the end of their first date. I got so excited to see how their relationship might continue in the future. So anyone who says that kind of relationship isn't believable can suck it. Anyone can find love, even if it isn't your intention. On another note, I'm really excited about this spoiler! I hope it's genuine this could be something I've been missing for a long time now! koops
I'm sorry if this is going to sound judgmental, but the kind of people that put people in boxes according to their ideas of what is realistic and what isn't, and what is possible and impossible, what classifies as X and what classifies as Y, and have the arrogance to tell you this is how things work, are exactly the kind of people that make the people like the characters in the show social outcasts. This is why I have no patience for that.

It's like trying to break down Harry Potter or Star Wars to real life. HOKUM! But is'nt that the fun about fiction? The possibility to interpret, let the mind flow and fantasize about characters and canon? To read and write hundreds of pages analysing eye-contact, hugs and hellos? To dissect quirks, fears and desires? To discuss the beauty of acters and actresses and loose oneself in a virtual reality? I think that is what makes a fandom a fandom. I love this! And nobody can ruin that for me.

The spoiler I read was just talking about Amy-to-the-rescue. Since the guys who are there all are from Caltech I don't think Bernie and Amy were there to start with as they do not work there. And what would Penny be doing encouraging kids to take up science careers??? LOL! She can barely look at a science syllabus without getting bored out of her mind.
