The Shamy Thread! (Season 6 Edition-Spoilers)

Clearly these are two characters who haven't a clue how to navigate a romantic relationship, but have stumbled upon the right person which gives them the motivation to figure it out.  Gradually over time they have gone from being very standoffish with people to finding their way into each other's hearts.  It's not at all conventional, but that doesn't make it wrong.  It absolutely is not a sign of dysfunction if a person is touched by this story.

Most beautifully put, tmp.

Some members on that thread are pretty judgmental - no shame in saying so. This view about Shamy not satisfying the 'required' parameters of romance (according to them) and hence not being 'true love' is just so rigid, especially on a board about a show which celebrates oddity and things and people outside the norm. I might just go over and reply, or not - I do it sometimes when I'm the mood for polemics. Mostly I drop in just to read some of the brilliant replies by Phanta, Spook, Sursonica and others.

Back to Shamy.. I agree that the main impression I took away from the last episode was that Sheldon was giving more thought to the intricacies and future implications of their relationship than Amy was. (Which, I think, was amazing, for a person as generally clueless and emotionally unaware as Sheldon). Definitely Amy thought of moving in with him purely with the enthusiasm of a delighted child, just happy with the idea of living close to him - she wasn't thinking of intimacy in that context at all. She was so overjoyed at the prospect of moving her water-bed into Leonard's room!

When she had her disappointed outburst later, it was because she had to let go suddenly of this pleasing new idea - there was no suggestion of 'why are you denying me intimacy even though I'm such a good girlfriend'. It sounded more like  'why are you denying me this little pleasure I want (being your flatmate) even though I'm such a good girlfriend'.

About the spoiler.. Amy helping out Sheldon with the high-school kids? This sounds priceless! Perhaps another nerdy moment between them.

Maybe I shouldn't bring this up, but I saw something in that other thread (that one) and it infuriated me.  One of the usual complainers essentially said that anyone who has experienced true love would not find the Shamy story appealing.  I didn't want to start a war over there so I'm ranting here with like-minded people.  I take great offense to that.  It's patronizing, hits below the belt, and IMO is completely untrue.  It's certainly untrue in my case.  I am drawn to the story for its complete sweetness.

Whoever said this doesn't deserve a reply, and wouldn't understand it anyway.

I saw the new promo for 6x16, it does look like that Amy squeezes him even harder when he says "Stop ruining Valentines day, now order my pizza." :icon_mrgreen:  The look on his face is priceless! Oh I wish he could have cuddled her back just a little bit. Although I enjoy he stayed there in her arms anyway. :icon_wink:

Oh my gosh...I love how she says "Oh Sheldon" before grabbing him.   It was so full of emotion.  I can't wait to see it. :icon_mrgreen:   Love that even after he says "stop ruining my Valentine's Day and order my pizza" she pulls him in even tighter.  :icon_lol:   He doesn't pull back though.  :icon_wink:

Oh I so can't wait...

Ooooo thanks Kiru! I love it. He says the last line in a very Spock-esque way, and yet you can tell he's liking the hug. And Amy's 'oh, Sheldon', and the way he smiles down at her..

About the cosplay, I especially like that the two of them seem to be physics grad students in their study. :) The Shamy's catching on!

I read that as Spook and I was like "What do you know about how I speak?" LOL.

I love how when he says "Stop ruining Valentine's Day and order my pizza" you can tell he doesn't mean it that way. His voice sounds very affectionate and even though this sounds cheesy, you can hear his feelings for her. He's like playfully chiding her. The old Sheldon would've never done that. I love it.

Agreed.  The protesting is very mild and there's definitely affection in his voice and facial expressions.  We know now that he doesn't mind, or at least wants to try more physical contact so he can overcome his hang-ups.

I was thinking that if a Shamy kiss is a ways off, a dream sequence in which Sheldon kisses Amy might accomplish the dual purpose of showing the audience he's thinking about it and satisfy us for a while.  Are you listening, writers?

I had a rough day at work today...then I came home, caught up on my favorite BBT threads, read a little Shamy fanfic and ate 4 of my V-Day chocolates (hubby gave them to me early, lol) and I feel much better now. :D

Of course, some Shamy moments in 6.18 would make me positively gleeful!

I know, I'm greedy.
