stardustmelody Posted February 13, 2013 Share Posted February 13, 2013 (edited) I had a rough day at work today...then I came home, caught up on my favorite BBT threads, read a little Shamy fanfic and ate 4 of my V-Day chocolates (hubby gave them to me early, lol) and I feel much better now. :D Of course, some Shamy moments in 6.18 would make me positively gleeful! I know, I'm greedy. It shouldn't be long now that they would be getting out...although I have to wonder if it might not take longer tonight if they have a bunch of kids (for the classroom scenes) on the set. That might make it more challenging. Glad you were able to have some good things cheer you up. Sorry your day was so lousy. Btw, the more I think about it, the more I think the Amy-goes-away-for-the-summer scenario is the perfect scenario to kickstart the development of physical intimacy in the following season. Regardless of whether it's this year or next, I think it would provide the perfect context because they would essentially go back to how they used to be in S4 or prior to that, when they were only Skyping and emailing and texting, but Sheldon WOULD notice what a massive difference physical presence now makes and this would set all sorts of things in motion. I am a little disappointed that again Sheldon and Amy have scenes apart from each other instead of together. I guess Amy gets Bernie to help with the phone call? I personally prefer it to be that she involved Bernie and that Sheldon called Amy only...in other words it was initiated by her not him to get Bernie involved. I think it still sounds like it is going to be a great episode regardless, but I am hoping for more Shamy scenes sometime this season and there are not very many episodes left. Yes, it would have been nice to have Amy physically coming to the school but I was wondering how they would have fit Penny in the episode if they had done that. Also, we don't know how the phone call played out. Let's wait and see. The writers are trying to keep things slow, if they spend too much time together this speeds up things I guess. It's frustrating because this year has probably been the one with the least amount of Shamy joint screentime, but I'd rather have this than tension and/or drama. Oh! I have a question if Monique or Kyzzx venture in here any time soon. Did they show 6x17 and if so, what line did they use when Sheldon offers to give pointers to Raj about women? stardustmelody Posted February 13, 2013 Share Posted February 13, 2013 Well, I guess the problem is they started this season going quite quickly, even Mayim mentioned that in an interview earlier in the season. Then suddenly, it was like they put brakes on and slowed it way down. I suspect that is because they must know they are going to be renewed for more seasons, but it makes it hard on the viewer to keep changing the pace on us. I do agree that I would rather go at a slow clip than have negative tension or break-ups. I guess I would have been more patient had they not set a higher pace earlier and then suddenly slowed it way down. I think they still could have them in scenes together and keep it slow though. They could do some of the things we suggested...have them play games together, get involved in a project or adventure together, etc. and continue with more eye-coitus and hand-holding. I just miss them being together. I do agree that they had to figure out a way to involve Penny in this particular episode so they handled it a way to make it work. Retroluv Posted February 13, 2013 Share Posted February 13, 2013 Don't worry guys, we'll get our big Shamy moments. It may not come until May Sweeps, but I trust the writers to pace things properly. I think sometimes we all get so excited and worked up that we forget that one of the things we love most about this couple's story is the slow, steady build-up and anticipation. This is what the writers have done all along - they throw us a nice, meaty bone halfway through the season, then leave us to chew on it for a while (I know...another metaphor. Couldn't help myself). I am choosing to expect very little over the next several months and just enjoy the other elements of the show as much as possible (which I do already). Seeing the V-day ep hug I think the writers are really sticking to their guns this year with the whole seeing how much they can push the envelope with the relationship while keeping Sheldon Sheldon, like Mayim was saying. As much as I find the V-day hug endearing, that's the vibe I get from the fact that they had him not touch her. Then they might start afresh with a new approach in S7, but that to me seems to be the theme of S6. At this point I'd be happy if he learns to return a hug by the end of the season. I also think it would be interesting if Amy were to leave for some project at the end of this season and at the beginning of next season they have her still gone, with the implication that she's been gone for the 3 months of the hiatus, like Howard was with the Space Station, and isn't back yet. So, even though she and Sheldon have been Skyping and emailing, etc., I think it would be fun if Sheldon kind of went to pot--letting his hair grow, not going in to work, moping around the apartment in dirty clothes or in his pajamas, etc.--while she was gone. I wouldn't take it that far maybe, I think as much as Sheldon would miss Amy that sounds more like a break-up scenario, I can't imagine him putting his obsessions for work and cleanness aside, it would be a bit too OOC I think. But it'd be funny to see him be restless and insufferable, especially with Leonard, maybe not sleeping well, for a couple of eps, yes. Or maybe his obsessions actually flare and he cleans all the time. Maybe Leonard mentions how he has to constantly keep an eye on him because he runs off to pet stores to buy cats again. lol. Sheldon missing Amy and others will wondering what the hell is going on.. he would have come himself to conclusion why he is like the-hell-with-everything, what is that feeling that something is not right, that something is missing and maybe someone is missing. I HATE the hormonal guy who jumps on the makeover girl scenario, I am SOOOO happy he is completely indifferent to it and that they are showing the contrast between him, Howard and Leonard. Howard and Leonard with that scenario are so typical, but Sheldon will have to learn to be more caring, and he has a lot of work with expose his feelings, but he is working on it, and he already is more mature.
