The Shamy Thread! (Season 6 Edition-Spoilers)

Yes Miss Lio's analyses are always wonderful. She and meg provide great insight.

I agree with you, Monique, that pacing properly will be important.  While there are purists out there, many of the original purists have been won over already for Shamy and now are rooting like the rest of us for them to share more intimacy.  I think the number of purists is dwindling.   So I think that 6.14 was a pivotal turning point.   I hope that they still go at the pace they have been, but not go too fast, nor too slow.  Pacing is important in this case.   We don't know how many seasons they have left, but I do believe most think no more than four.   But they could only have 2-3 left as well (after this one that is) so who knows?   I am trusting that they are keeping the end-game in mind and figuring out the pacing to be correct.  So far I have been impressed with how they have handled the couple so can't complain.  :)

Spook, you, meg, Miss Lio and Miss Lauren would get along well.  You all have wonderful insights and articulate things beautifully. :icon_mrgreen:

Can you tell me where I might find it  to read... pretty please :icon_razz:

My fellow Montserrat fans....Virginia just posted another chapter.  Go read!   It was a great chapter! :icon_mrgreen:

I really don't think it has anything to do with purists who make up less than say 5% or even less of viewers. Most casual viewers want them to do it and get it over with.

They will drag it out a little of course because its a sitcom and they have to keep viewers interested and then before it becomes too stale - they do it.

The slow buildup is the best part :)

I'm just saying that I do think the purists are partly on their minds because there have been several interviews with Mayim where she seemed to be pretty aware of the haters and/or mentioned how the writers are trying to keep Sheldon "Sheldon". I always got the impression, from those interviews, that she was almost apologetic about her character and trying to tell people that she isn't there to "ruin" Sheldon. It makes me pretty sad to hear her constantly having to defend her character. Jim is way more blunt and forward about their relationship, if you notice, like he's allowed to want it whereas she isn't because some people have this perception that she came along and ruined it.

Those comments, imo, are different than saying they're dragging it out solely because they want a slow buildup. In a sense though, it is true that the slow buildup serves two purposes: to make the relationship special and to slowly get people used to changes in their relationship. I think that's essentially what Molaro is saying in that interview: we're getting them there slowly, so people don't need to freak out, but we ARE getting them there nonetheless. 6x14 was totally a big, flashing "We are warning you, we are going there" sign.

Yes, on first viewings I was wondering whether it was Jim being too excited because he seemed to then suddenly go serious as if he had to remember to stay in character, but after watching it again I think it might have been just Sheldon because he does smile again when he tells her where to read. He definitely was aware of the meaning of the present and that it wouldn't be lost on her. That was no accident.

Agreed.  I think they meant for Sheldon to be very happy to have received his gift, and feeling almost overwhelmed with affection.  Plus, Jim is such an incredible actor, it seems doubtful he would slip out of character.

Agreed. Jim is a very well-prepared and focused actor. I think anything he does as Sheldon is completely intentional.

Oh I'm not talking about that time, I'm saying TCR. And there was another one too that's in the actual episode, can't remember which one.

Maybe you talking about that last epidode in season 5 during that scene when Amy is angry at Bernadette and Howard because they want to take away her maid of honor time, and she gets up and starts yelling at them and then Jim is stares at her ass.

Yes, that's TCR. There's another one though, but I can't remember off the top of my head.

Oh yeah! I remember those. I'd still like to think it was on purpose. Or do you think a little Jim peeked through there? I always thought that since Amy was yelling about how she wanted to wear her maid of honor dress that Sheldon was looking her up and down picturing her in the dress. Haha

I saw that some people said he looked last week, but I can't find that part for the life of me! I've watched it multiple times now too.

I don't see it either.  He watched her walk in front of him, but she wasn't all that close so I don't know how it's possible to see if he was zooming in on her bottom.  Same thing with the "fashion show" in TSS.  He looked as he was essentially asked, but I didn't see him especially ogling her.  It's JMO and I don't mean to insult anyone who disagrees.

Silverangel, look on page 205...the post is done by me, but it is text taken from Miss Lio that she wanted posted over here.   It is about mid-way down the page.

I have never been able to tell if it is Jim or Sheldon looking at her behind, but he did it a couple of times in Season 5 and maybe even once in Season 4.   It could be that it is Jim and he is not even aware he is doing it, but Jim is usually really good at staying in character, so it is hard to say.   The problem is that when he is with Mayim, he acts a lot the same way as Sheldon does with Amy as far as loving looks and things.  It is clear he adores her.  So sometimes it is hard to tell if it is Jim or Sheldon.  :icon_lol:

After watching it again when you mentioned this the first time, it is now my belief that he was having a Shamy shipper moment. LOL. He was excited about this scene. Even when they finished filming (I mentioned this before), he put his knees up to his chest, feet on the couch and he was smiling and rocking back and forth with his arms around his legs.
