Kiru Breezy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Amy was trying to prove a point and she suceeded & Sheldon couldn't tell her this to her face so he gives her sweet nothings then rants to himself. I don't think Tara would write mean!Sheldon. But we are winding down the season. Let's see where they are at the end of it all. Kiru Breezy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Phanta just explained it. By closing this door mid-sentence Amy never got closure & Sheldon proved she has the same issue. The end of the sentence she wasn't SUPPOSED to hear is the punchline.
MJistheBOMB Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Yeah, that's how I figured it when I read it at first because he closes the door in her face quickly.

koops Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 The punchline being the closure. I really do not think the fact that she didn't hear the punchline is a good thing, symbolically. At all. Quite the opposite.
rachelshamyfan Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) But its not Amy that the closure is about though - I need to see it for it to make proper sense Edited March 20, 2013 by rachygd

She  was trying to prove that this isn't something that he can't do. This isn't something beyond him. She tries to help him realize that. And to me this can be counted as a kind of foreplay... He said I wish you would be dead because he knows that she's right. These sounds that can be assigned to the sounds of pleasure, when domino overturns the ... this means something. We just have to wait and see it all... BazingaFan Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) It is their version of foreplay, I tell you what!  I agree completely. the writers are teasing us so they can surprise us. let's just wait and see what happens... it would be too easy if there wasn't any suspense leading up to things. Kiru Breezy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I don't think its good or bad...the end of the sentence could have been 'and I hope you get abducted by aliens'. Its just a line - hilarious - that Amy wasn't supposed to hear. I don't think it has bearing on the episode at all. It is a tag..the last haha before signing off. stardustmelody Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Bottom line, it was a terribly written line. It should NEVER have been written. It isn't funny, it doesn't bring laughs, it also does not make anyone feel good. So why include it? They would be wise to cut it because it comes across mean, vindictive and not supportive of what they want to do which is show this couple is close, tight and growing together.  It doesn't do any of that.  You don't joke about someone dying or being dead. It is just horrible.  Sheldon has been giving nothing but snide remarks to and about Amy in most of the episodes from 6.18 on.  This line was the icing on the cake as far as bad remarks.  It is hard to watch her being treated poorly when all she is trying to do is help him overcome OCD...or at least admit he has it.  She was actually trying to help him, and that was the repayment.  It is really mean and horrible. I can't believe the writers went there and do hope they cut it by the time it airs. It comes across far too mean.  I have no idea what they are doing, but so far they are not ending the season well with this couple. It held so much promise and so much progress was being made and then since 6.16 it has been like a reset and been very unpleasant to watch all the digging remarks.  Next episode will not even likely have anything about Shamy in it since we have "Arthur" guest star.  So that means two episodes to try and make this make sense or else we might have to wait for season 7.  If that is the case, not sure how many will still come back to watch. Kiru Breezy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I'm not upset as I was about the pawing line because this is a completely different context. AMY WAS NEVER GOING TO HEAR IT - she was never meant to. We don't know how it was said so I can't get worked up about it. Let's see. ShamyFTW Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Thank you Cathi for the taping report!  Ahhh, hmm I don't know what to think at this point...the writers have some type of plan. I'll trust.  Maybe Sheldon is starting to resent Amy. I dunno. Instead of trying to help him, maybe should let him work it out on his own.   On another note, I freaking love BUFFY! Penny and Leonard scene sounds sweet. tmp Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 (edited) Thank you for the report, Cathi!! You're our new BFF.  It wasn't the overtly loving interaction I craved, but we'll see how it turns out when it airs. My initial reaction wasn't 100% positive but on second look it's pretty funny. I'm reserving judgment til I see it.  Be optimistic, y'all!. Edited March 20, 2013 by tmp
Kiru Breezy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Hmm. I don't know. I think this is sweeps so I am unsure what to think. BUT WHAT I HATE IS PEOPLE BLAMING AMY FOR SHELDON'S CALLOUSNESS - something he admitted he is. Its like blaming a victim for being attacked because she was too enticing. I'm holding out till the season finale which tapes soon to see where they are at the end of it all.
koops Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I just don't see how the fact that she does not hear it makes it any better. To me it sounds like the point he was trying to make is that she also doesn't want not to have closure. So he tells her to her face all these lovely things she wants to hear. Then he shuts the door in her face, turns around, and says to himself the "closure". To me, that scene plays out as if he were lying to her to her face, then when she can't hear him he says what he really thinks.  I'm sure the writers aren't actually trying to imply he wishes she were dead, but still made the point that what he really thinks to himself isn't positive.  If it were a one off I could even ignore it. But my "throw away line" bucket is spilling slightly right now.

She knows that he must work this on his own to understand what he feels and  and why he like it so much.
ShamyFTW Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 it would be an awefull line. But if I understand correctly what happens afterwards he sort of has a climax. Maybe he literally wishes this would not happen and blames Amy for these feelings..... But wouldn't that mean that he "climaxed" because he got to finish his task? Like that was what turned him on? ShamyFTW Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Maybe we should prepare ourselves for some type of break-up.
goldenorb Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Thank you so much Cathi and BigBangSheldon for coordinating and getting the report posted!  I was out driving a friend home from the hospital, from Seattle to another town, and was not around to help Cathi with her posting struggles, so I'm so glad BBS was able to step in.  And Monique and Kellee, I'm so grateful to you for your hours of hard work and dedication every week to bring us these taping reports.  If it were not for you, several of these threads would not exist.  Thank you so much!   I laughed a lot at this week's report; it looks like a fun episode.  But that last line....hmmmm.  I can't decide if it's Sheldon being Sheldon, or if it's building up to a big "Screw you buddy, I'm outta here" from Amy.  Whatever it is, it'll be big.  How many ILYs from Penny is this now?  Three?

SRAM Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 But they said at Paleyfest that there would be no big things to the finale. Sheldon and Amy breaking up would be very big, so I don't see it happening.
Kiru Breezy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 Spook..I think you are reading way too much into a tag scene. You are way off base here. What he says after he closes the door isn't important - hence the hilarity - the punchline is that Amy never got closure and its proven that she needs it as well.
Kiru Breezy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I don't see a break up - I see a victor being declared & the paradox ended. Either Sheldon doesn't move and they break up or Amy's force wins & they move forward. I think its the latter.
silverangel Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 But wouldn't that mean that he "climaxed" because he got to finish his task? Like that was what turned him on?   I looks that way, the tension was to strong, she doesn't let him finished things, and when he does, it gives him kind of climax. because he could finish it I think that  writers did that to show us that he knows now, how it's like when he has to wait for something. Kiru Breezy Posted March 20, 2013 Posted March 20, 2013 I get what you're saying Silver Angel. Amy not allowing him closure/climax by denying him it to prove a point - that he needs it. When he finally gives her a taste of his torture - and curses her for torturing him....he finally get his release and she is denied. Lol. Its the TSAS, the more I read, the more I love. Foreplay. Lol.
