The Shamy Thread! (Season 6 Edition-Spoilers)

I'm really not worried about that line, haha. It just seems like a typical Sheldon line to me. I do think the power struggle Amy and Sheldon have been going through in the last few episodes is going to come to a head in the finale. Their both trying to win  and both just keep stale-mating each other, lol.

I don't see a break-up or anything of the type at all. They've come top far at this point. Their not Leonard and Penny in that they need drama to keep their relationship interesting. Their just 2 people navigating their way through a type of relationship neither have ever had. I'm enjoying watching them both learn about themselves and what their willing to put up with and what their not willing to put up together.

Frankly the writers are so lame if they think this is an effective way to bring a couple forward. It's not funny, how can it be funny? He says he wishes for her death. I'll say what I said before...ANY other TV couple and these lines are somewhat ok...but Shamy is ALL in the words and interactions. If those fail, the couple fails. I cannot believe that I actually thought this season we'd get an ILY and/or kiss. Silly me.

I'm preparing for a breakup. Or a really forgettable Shamy finale where probably Amy does something to help Sheldon and he AGAIN has no appreciative reaction or step forward.

Coming back here after 2 days.. I won't comment on the report right now (I usually don't when there's something we need to see how it plays out), but this comment by Monique stood out to me.

Think about it, he went through ALL that trouble just to find out how a show he enjoyed WOULD have ended had it not been cancelled.

My first thought was: seriously.. how many of us would at least THINK of doing what Sheldon did, if TBBT suddenly ends mid-series without any closure? Put your hands up. :p

We are being too literal guys.

Read it again. Its a metaphor for teasing/foreplay but in Shamy speak.

Amy theorizes Sheldon needs to climax, frustrates him at every turn. He finally gets even. Turns her on & then leaves her high and dry. Curses her for denying him & then gets his release.

I'm loving this so much now. I took it all too literally. It has nothing to do with death or whatever. It was all figurative. I love it.

I get what you're saying Silver Angel. Amy not allowing him closure/climax by denying him it to prove a point - that he needs it. When he finally gives her a taste of his torture - and curses her for torturing him....he finally get his release and she is denied. Lol.

Its the TSAS, the more I read, the more I love. Foreplay. Lol.

Exactly. I think that Amy has figured it out ( maybe...I'm only assuming)  that when she must wait for his amorous mood, that he needs to wait to finish something.  That will drive him nuts, because he will be lifted from his safe place, the more he will placed against the wall, the more he will be wanted to  relieve himself ".  He must face his problems, phobias and how he can do it when everything in his life is so planed and stacked. He must understand that not everything will be like he wants and how he plans, and it's fine and good because, if he will cope with unfinished things, by letting them be unfinished relax his mind,  other things will be important for him, and he will not run away again to his safe places and safe work...

Bottom line, it was a terribly written line.  It should NEVER have been written.  It isn't funny, it doesn't bring laughs, it also does not make anyone feel good.  So why include it?  They would be wise to cut it because it comes across mean, vindictive and not supportive of what they want to do which is show this couple is close, tight and growing together.   It doesn't do any of that.   You don't joke about someone dying or being dead.  It is just horrible.

Sheldon has been giving nothing but snide remarks to and about Amy in most of the episodes from 6.18 on.   This line was the icing on the cake as far as bad remarks.   It is hard to watch her being treated poorly when all she is trying to do is help him overcome OCD...or at least admit he has it.   She was actually trying to help him, and that was the repayment.   It is really mean and horrible.  I can't believe the writers went there and do hope they cut it by the time it airs.  It comes across far too mean.

I have no idea what they are doing, but so far they are not ending the season well with this couple.  It held so much promise and so much progress was being made and then since 6.16 it has been like a reset and been very unpleasant to watch all the digging remarks.   Next episode will not even likely have anything about Shamy in it since we have "Arthur" guest star.   So that means two episodes to try and make this make sense or else we might have to wait for season 7.   If that is the case, not sure how many will still come back to watch.

I don't want to be too negative, but this is what I'm thinking too - has Sheldon ever said to anyone a line like that, either face to face or off? It is very intensely negative and brutal line indeed.

But, we could think the context there and possible meaning of his words. To me they reflect a huge amount of struggle inside his mind and heart that he is going through, because of Amy and her impact on him. (We usually don't get to see what's happening inside his heart and mind, in the depths of him - we  see only the surface level, where he tries to keep straight face and show no emotions to others and can throw nasty lines to other people - it's more rare to see the signs from Sheldon from the other edge of his personality.)

My point is, that now she causes him to feel pain in so many ways, that it could likely be the reason for his words. In the heat of the moment he says something like that, what he doesn't actually mean. Sheldon is really really complex, unique and rare personality type, so I try to see this in that point of view. So I really don't think he literally meant what he said - it was that situation, that context there, he was like venting the pressure off because of the feelings raised in the previous events. I think maybe Amy there touched (and have touched earlier) the deep areas inside him no one has touched for a long time (if ever), and that hurts him. It is painful to face one's deeply rooted fears and misconceptions. I'm not sure if he's ready to handle them knowingly and consciously with himself just yet. This behavior is just the result of his massive struggle he is going through now. These outbursts are sort of coming from more the unconscious, automatic level of him, and it's definitely from a different level than the one he is already showed us he is sometimes able to interact and connect to (the mature one). To reach the mature level in thinking and behaving, he needs to do it and proceed to it consciously (it doesn't come to him automatically). And I think he cannot do that when he's overwhelmed with frustration in such situations when he is proved to be wrong - his pride comes into the picture. And even if its done by the one he loves the most.

Of course all this stated above, doesn't give him right to say it so fiercely about the person he loves. I'm happy that Amy didn't get to hear his outburst.

I don't know if opening some psychology books about his ego/superego fighting things here could help. But this just shows how intense and fierce his internal battle is now getting because of Amy. Interesting however to see where it leads to now something new and different. What it's going to be it's yet quite hard to predict, but we'll see.

The scene was reshot & he said SUCKER! Lol. Same sentiment. Funnier. Told ya not to get ur blood pressure up.

Phew.

Also, we've been trying to figure out the snappiness in Sheldon since 6x17.

Chloe pointed out that in 6x17 Amy has the ponytail and looks all pretty.

6x18, she's Snow White.

6x19 she's dressed up with that fugly dress that we do know from 6x11 Sheldon likes though

6x20 she's dressed up nice at the funeral.

Then you get this massive sex-metaphor ep.

Discuss.

I totally disagree that the sentiment in the two sentences is the same though. Massive difference to me. I can't even believe they thought those two lines could mean the same thing.

Kiru, glad to hear they re-shot! Where did you get the info?

In the spoilers thread, Christi said that her daughter reminded her that they reshot the tag, with Sheldon saying "sucker" instead of "I wish you were dead."

I think the last line change is a vast improvement.  Any lines about death are not great in my book.  That isn't something to tease or joke about.   I am glad they changed it and hope the editors pick Sucker instead.  It also makes more sense when you consider what goes with the rest of the scene.   It is far more in keeping with the essence of it.  :icon_wink:
