The Shamy Thread! (Season 6 Edition-Spoilers)

No I meant more moments where he actually means it as sexual or he gets it as sexual or it's implied he's hitting puberty. I don't think he understood what he was saying there, that's something he would have said in the past too.

okay :icon_lol:

I'm on the sexual frustration bandwagon at the moment. The season has started with Leonard telling him "Your relationship with Amy is turning you into a red-blooded man with sexual desires", to which he react snappily and dismissively. And here comes a whole season of bizarre sexual undertones on his part. Like I said earlier, and forgive me for the copy-and-paste, in these last few eps in particular, where his snappiness seemed to come out of the blue after V-day:

Chloe pointed out that in 6x17 Amy has the ponytail and looks all pretty.

6x18, she's Snow White.

6x19 she's dressed up with that fugly dress that we do know from 6x11 Sheldon likes though

6x20 she's dressed up nice at the funeral.

Then you get this massive sex-metaphor ep.

Is it all going to explode in the last two eps of the season? Either she's going to kiss him again and he'll short-circuit and give her the kiss of her life or he's going to say something REALLY nasty to her face and set up trouble.

eta: But I think we really need to see some sugar soon. I think a big part of the reason why some of us react so badly lately is that we're literally starved for it. Literally, it's like they had lead us up to something for the V-day ep, where we were all (mostly) convinced that a kiss was coming, and then they denied us our own closure. So I hope we get to knock down our dominos very soon.

Do we get a dominorgasm?!?! :p

Lol it's Jim in drag!!! I think he's such a cutie, but based on this photo, I don't know that he would win any beauty contests as a woman/drag queen. Good for him, though! Given how reserved and shy he generally seems to be, this must have taken some courage.

To quote Bill Murray in Tootsie: "Don't play hard-to-get." :p

I'm pretty sure that's going to be everyone's reaction when the SIK finally happens.

DOMINORGASM!!!!  LUV it. Thinking of changeing my forumname....

btw, cant wait to see that on screen  :icon_eek:

But I just got used to Mattress! (although I'm curious as to what autocorrect will come up with for that one).

Oh oh oh soooo excited about Bob Newhart.  I adore him!

Koops has an excellent point about the sex metaphors this season.  I hope it's intentional, and with so many it almost has to be.  A sexual awakening would be great.  I still hope to see the physical happen first more as a result of affection but there's no reason both can't happen at once.

Cool!

He's going to be hilarious!

The story of him being "Dr. Proton" reminds me of Dr. Fishbeck that we used to watch when I was in elementary school.  I don't think PBS existed in those days, but we had some kind of local education channel, I guess.  We had a TV hung in the corner of our classrooms and we would watch a general music class on certain days, and a science class--with Dr. Fishbeck--on other days.  I think he may have come to our school at some point because I remember getting an autograph from him. :)

He is just resisting it to extremes, it seems now. If he is so frustrated, Amy would be more than willing to help with that to take his pressure off... But he rejects it yet in his mind. Hopefully not much longer.. He has to decide what he wants and wants to want...

Right, thanks for the support to my breakdown of S6 sex :p But my point was... can someone compare from previous seasons whether this is a significant increase in sexual innuendoes or are we just grasping at straws? I don't remember the previous seasons as I do this one because I didn't watch them in order. I'm just trying to figure out whether this increase is too big to be coincidental.

No there has definitely been an increase. It's just a lot of faith to have in these writers who aren't really prized or know for their continuity. I don't know. Like I said, I hope your theory proves true and they carry it out well.

As far as I can remember this is a total different way he is expressing him. He used to call it coitus or carnal interactions. I can't recall him saying the word sex or making jokes on sex-related stuff. TBH this change first really occured to me in 6x8, The 43 Percularity, when he made the joke about the Corn-Blow. It totally cracked me up, and acutally brought me to this forum because I wanted to know if it is only me that saw this is and is going crazy about. So thanks to Corn-Blow I am here!!!!

And Spook, I will stick to Matress :icon_razz:

Mayim looked great in that outfit! Just annoyed we didn't get some photos of her and Jim like Kaley and Johnny did. Why does the universe hate us? I'm still waiting on a photoshoot.

eta: Going back to the whole sex-theme for this season, I've been trying to think of all the instances Sheldon has said/done/been in a sex-related innuendo/situation. By comparison to previous seasons, can anybody say whether it's increased or about the same? And am I missing any?

x02 - "red-blooded man with sexual desires"

6x05 - "you might be getting a testosterone level"

6x07 - "are you finally getting fuzz in weird places"

6x08 - the hackey sack?

6x09 - not directly, but it's the first time we hear Amy state they WILL make love

6x10 - "have sex with a spider", then the whole episode really

6x12 - STD book

6x14 - do I need to say anything?

6x15 - lip gloss/intimacy

6x17 - virginity puns

6x18 - videogame, gets all the puns Howard makes

6x19 - "My mother warned me" (since when does HE interprets something as innocuous as "You have something we want" as sexual?)

6x20 - boobs and trash talk

6x21 - the grand big sexual metaphor

Looks like I need to go back and look all of season six.  You have laid out a very interesting case.  I hope that it's leading to something.  At least some type of confession to Amy, or an ILY.  I don't care so much about the touching.  I would like to see the two of them have a sweet tender moment. :)

Yay for Bob Newhart! He's great! I'm really excited now!

eta: This reminds me of Mr. Wizard. I used to watch that constantly when I was little!

Well, let's look at S5, shall we?

I'm just going to run down the episodes and we can see what there was:

5x1 The Skank Reflex Analysis--he discusses Penny's "brain teaser".  He apparently figured out or was told "what it looks like", but still doesn't figure out that she would have lied about sleeping with Raj.

5x2 The Infestation Hypothesis--nothing

5x3 The Pulled Groin Extrapolation--while he doesn't really talk directly about sex, he does seem to extrapolate from Leonard's remark about his groin to a conclusion that Leonard might be trying to horn in on Amy, thus the caveman karate-chop and the famous, "She's not for you!"

5x4 The Wiggly Finger Catalyst--nothing, IIRC

5x5 The Russian Rocket Reaction--Wil Wheaton's party--nothing

5x6 The Rhinitis Revelation--nothing

5x7 The Good Guy Fluctuation--nothing

5x8 The Isolation Permutation--this one has a lot of interesting stuff in it--and discuss!

5x9 The Ornithophobia Diffusion--nothing (except he doesn't seem to catch Amy's "gotta have hollow bones" quip. :) )

5x10 The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition--he doesn't get Penny's "strap on a pair"--does that count?  He does stake his claim, though. :)

5x11 THe Speckerman Recurrence--nothing?

5x12 THe Shiny Trinket Maneuver--though it's full of lovely stuff, I don't think there's anything really sexual in it, is there?

5x13 The Recombination Hypothesis--nothing?

5x14 The Beta Test Initiation--We have FWF, but I don't think there's anything sexual

5x15 The Friendship Contraction--nothing

5x16 The Vacation Solution--again, lots of good Shamy stuff, but no innuendo or sexual references

5x17 The Rothman Disintegration--nothing?  (Sheldon does, however, once again demonstrate his fascination with prostate exams... :icon_eek:  )

5x18 The Werewolf Transformation--he apparently doesn't respond to Amy's (offscreen) invitations to sleep in her bed...

5x19 The Weekend Vortex--we get the "whipped" sound effect, but I don't think that counts.  It's more about relationship issues than sexual issues.

5x20 The Transporter Malfunction--nothing

5x21 The Hawking Excitation--nothing

5x22 The Stag Convergence--I don't know about this one.  The guys were all talking about sex, but I don't think Sheldon really responds to it one way or the other.

5x23 THe Launc Acceleration--this one is interesting...

5x24 The Countdown Reflection--is there any innuendo that's discussed here?  Sheldon does keep mentioning Leonard's proposal during sex, but I don't remember if he uses sex, intercourse or coitus in those references, or if it counts, really.

And discuss...

I'm looking forward to Bob Newhart... very cool.

I've been thinking about the lastest taping report all morning.  This episode...oh my goodness... the more I think about it... the more brilliant it seems.  I hope watching it will live up to my expectations.  The sexual metaphor is so apparent to me now I can't stand it.  I need my domino release!  Can't wait!

I found season 5 to be very non-sexual for the shamy.  More sweet than anything else.  There was some small stuff in season 4, like when she taught him how to massage his neck, but nothing so far has compared to season 6, in my opinion.

Bravo koops.  You described it so well and you noticed all the sexual signs and metaphors and undertones. It's clear that he has sex in mind, and I hope that the writers give us something at the end of the season, and thus leave the door open for season 7 to continue the journey  of the Shamy to the land of  physical pleasure...

WOW. Thanks for the breakdown Phanta. I think the increase is definitely significant! More than I expected (I'm such a geek I'm tempted to do a t-test. LOL. But I'm sure I'd get a p = .000). :p

So in S5 the sexual references (which he mostly didn't get) were mostly reserved for Amy episodes. And even those, or the few we have are nowhere near as elaborate and meaningful as what we got this year.

I think that season 5 is asexual but for me everything had started from this episode where Amy is starting her experiment to increase his feelings for her and she planted the seed and it starts growing. And she succeeded, but she's had fertile ground, because in ep3s5 there were words: she is not for you, that means he was jealous and from the begining he knows that she is his soul mate.

Wow you all have been very busy.   I am so happy Bob Newhart will be on the show.  It wasn't even anyone I would have guessed, but that makes me very happy.  I love him!   It will be funny to see Sheldon gush all over him.  haha

Koops and Phanta...amazing summaries.   There clearly is quite a difference between S5 and S6, yes?   I think Koops is right on the money as to what this season is ending up being about.  I am excited to see how this all unfolds.
