1. All I'm going to freak out about is this...when will we stop using the excuse Sheldon is Sheldon? Seriously enough. I swear people are so loyal to this character that if he murdered Leonard right on the TV screen people would be saying "oh Sheldon is just being Sheldon". He needs to stop being such a jurk if he is going to continue being a boyfriend. Otherwise they can break up this couple right now because they sure won't gain fans of the couple with him continuing on this track.

2. I agree with the bro-ship koops and Lio for the most part regarding Shamy. I don't need to add anythng further.

3. Adding something did ya'll see the look Penny gave Amy when Raj said his crappy comment about her having no sexuality? What's up with that? She looks so queen bee bitchy. I miss their days of being besties :( Edit because this is being misinterpreted: I do like Penny. She's great. I'm just saying her look to Amy was mean considering they are supposed to be best buds is what I think.

Like many people said I thought it was a good bbt episode but not the best of Shamy episode. Similar to Sheldon's comment on going "back and forth" I thought the Shamy moments were back in forth in this episode there were moments I like and then others i didn't care for

I think I finally put my finger on what felt so off about all the Shamy interactions in this episode.

It felt like I was watching Sheldon interact with Penny.

I think this is the hardest part for me in the last few episodes. I understand most of the lines for jokes and it is a comedy and Sheldon treats everyone this way. However, I personally used to feel it was everyone but Amy, that there was a mutual admiration. Yes Sheldon still felt he was smarter than Amy but that she was the next closes to him. I still think there is a reason and I hope its explained int he last two eps

I was mentally prepared not to be very happy with the Shamy dynamic, so I'm not even flipping. But I have to say... when I first read the very beginning of the taping report, that whole scene about the jelly fish reverting back to his asexual state, I was pretty worried it would not be coincidental symbolism. And I'm getting the feeling that they're settling into this new dynamic of Sheldon being Sheldon and Amy sitting there and taking it. I am starting to think that V-day was a tipping point where they had to decide whether to take the leap to make Sheldon grow up or not, and they decided they don't want to. I'm sure at some point they will, the question is is it going to be a fun ride? All I know is that when I am looking forward to the Shamy scenes being over so I can get to the rest of the episode, it's not a good sign for me as a shipper. And I'm not holding my breath that anything will dramatically swing my mood in the last two episodes. I think they're settled on this status-quo now and will be for a while.

I hope to be pleasantly surprised.

I also tried to mentally prepare myself for this episode :) I did also question the beginning scene when Sheldon said , i would be ok with that if I could keep my gmail account and that he was joking about himself as "returning to a asexual state" but  I think it kind of played with the back and forth with the episode. but I hope this is not leading to that dynamic you mentioned but its hard to ignore

Also about Raj, I thought it was funny when Sheldon told Amy to take out your breast, The camera cut to Raj and he was grinning and nodding, like "yes please do" , So even thought Raj was alittle rude to Amy, I assume it was the alcohol because he definitely wanted to see Amy's "sexually exploitative qualities"

Amy wasn't being passive???? Was I watching an entirely different show? She took blow after blow, where she was definitely not pleased with any of them, and yet raised up again to him with more praise. That gif where they smile at each other... right after he practically says to her "Oh, well, if thinking you can be useful to me makes you happy, by all means go ahead", isn't Amy being passive? He just said Date Nights are tedious (Date Nights that HE invented) as a funeral, and that all he wanted was for her to drive him and gives her this condescending smile and she smiles back like he's the cutest thing in the world? That's not being passive?  I'm sorry, but having one little smile, that to me was more of a piss-take on what he just said to her, is not enough to make me happy about their interactions.

I also am fed up with the whole "Sheldon is being Sheldon" excuse. I'm sure that's not the case for everyone, but what attracted ME to Shamy is that he was different with her. That they were like two humans who found each other in a world of dogs. If I wanted to watch Sheldon being a condescending jerk, I have Sheldon & Penny. Or Sheldon and Howard. Or Sheldon and most of the characters that ever cross his path. Is it too much to ask that he behaves differently with the ONE character he used to act differently towards and that HE decided he wanted to be in a relationship with? I thought they were doing just that for the first half of the season, but now every single scene with them has at least one line that is anything but pleasant. That's the big issue I have. He was NEVER this bad with Amy, he used to treat her differently and he used to consider her his intellectual equal, not his groupie.

It's the total lack of consistency in the writing that really throws me off. In the same episode you have everything and the opposite of everything. The sexuality scene was absurd in the way it was written. So he gets outraged at the implication that Raj thinks Amy has no sexuality, then when Raj confirms that's exactly what he things, Sheldon just goes "Oh, ok". Oh, ok? Why does he get outraged and then once it's confirmed it's exactly what he was getting outraged about he accepts it? It makes no sense. It was like Dr. Jekill and Mr. Hyde there: you had "it's a possibility"-Sheldon get outraged and then old-Sheldon not really care about it. Which character are we watching here? I think they are using Sheldon as a plot device right now to set up their big scene in the finale where Amy blows up at him, that's why he makes no sense: because he is just a plot device right now. And no, it is not "necessary", it's lazy writing.

I'm really at the point where I'd rather not to see any Shamy scenes that hearing any more of these lines. I'm glad to see many others are still happy with them, but I personally am not finding this dynamic fun to watch. I might take a break from this thread just so I don't rain on everyone's parade.

Bless you for this post, especially the bolded part. Sheldon's a jerk, we know that; it's part of why the character is so successful with people. But he used to treat Amy way, way differently. He used to think of her as this goddess who was the only person in the world who could really understand him. She used to be the girl he would apologize to just because she wanted him to. He used to worship her as much as she worships him. Lately, it feels like Amy's the only one in this relationship, and it's not okay imho to shrug it off with "oh well, Sheldon's a jerk". It should never be okay to shrug anything he says with that answer (which is why I LOVED Leonard going batcrap crazy over the spoilers thing in The Spoiler Alert Segmentation) but it's even worse with Amy because she used to be his exception.

And I'm watching The Lion King and Mufasa just died so I'm gonna walk away and cry now because I can't handle Mufasa's death and Shamy disappointment in a single afternoon.  :icon_cry:

Wow. You guys need a break. Because you are taking this way too seriously.

Sheldon is a jerk and Amy adores him...what else is new?

That was a funny episode with ups and downs for Shamy, but this ranting and hyperventilating and foaming at the mouth is unnecessary.

If you all took a deep breath and realize its just a sitcom & the couples will have their ins and outs.

This episode was HILARIOUS, I loved Sheldon and Amy in this episode. They were bickering, snarky but they had to shake things up at some point.

Buckle up and enjoy the ride folks.

Objectively, the writing isn't brilliant. Hasn't been for quite a while. When you leave half your audience wondering what the fuck is going on, it's not brilliant writing. Unless you write a thriller story, which TBBT isn't.

About point 1. Regardless what I said in my post, that I understand this excuse (I really do, but it doesn't mean it isn't annoying, it pissed me off!) I agree with you. They must stop using this, as an eternall explain,  and have an excuse to drag a clear breakthrough in Shamy relationship.

about point 2. I noticed it too. It was painfull to watch, I saw this "look at me, maybe you're smart but I'm sexy like hell and you can not compete with me" look, and Amy's angry(?)... disgusted(?).. look, when Penny took of her coat. I really want to things get better between them. Penny is a little bitchy in that season.

If Amy had been honest with Penny when they were shopping for clothes and told her that she was going to the physicists Funeral things may been different. It may have been painful to watch but Amy brought this on herself.

Sorry. But fan boards aren't representative of 'half the audience'.

Check twitter, FB, Get Glue etc. People loved it. Most saw that Sheldon was an ass & Amy was a saint. And it was funny.

Just because 85% of people love it doesn't make it "brilliant". Twilight is succesful and it still makes me want to vomit.

No she didn't. Where is this even coming from?

Everyone has different opinions on what they want in this relationship and how seriously they take it. So every reaction is understandable based on their viewpoint. Telling people how to feel is oversimplifying the matter and is just gonna make them angry. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for something to happen soon that will make us ALL happy again...

No she didn't. Where is this even coming from?

It was the scene when Penny bent over in front of Leonard. Earlier in the scene Leonard had asked Penny what she done during the day. She replied that Amy and her went clothes shopping because Amy was going to a funeral. Obviously that meant Sheldon lied about going to the funeral. Leonard was mad and explained that to Penny. Amy didn't lie but didn't tell the whole truth to Penny. If you want Penny and Amy to get along Amy should have told her everything. Also if anybody was being bitchy it was Amy towards Penny.

I don't even know how to answer this. I can't see any logic behind this reasoning. Oo

That implies that Amy was aware of Sheldon's lie, and there's no proof to indicate she was. As far as Amy knew, she was going to the funeral to help support Sheldon get tenure by helping him through the political areas and being a woman with her own towering reputation in the sciences at his side. Amy obviously told Penny she was going to the funeral. If she was lying to Penny or trying to hide the fact she was going to this funeral, or generally helping Sheldon in a lie, she would have told Penny she was going to cotillion at the train store.

All I can say, that I agree there might be a blow up by Amy coming in the finale, or that Amy is leaving somewhere away from Sheldon. I guess the writers are building to that now.  What happens after her blow up/ threat of leaving him, is another story. First of all I hope it could shake Sheldon's world, his emotions and mind and so lead him to understand what a jerk he has been to her lately and could cause him to alternate his behavior and treat her better afterwards. He could humble himself and acknowledge he has been way too rude to her and regret. After this, they could have a sweet moment together consoling each other.
I think he has not been aware of his behavior to Amy, like he was thinking "I'm being a jerk to her on purpose". I don't think that's the case. It's something he does unconsciously, he doesn't do that on purpose. Or what do you think? Does he want to be rude to Amy on purpose, and if, why?
The constant movement Sheldon mentioned himself about their relationship was not a surprise for me. I think the writers are now making it seem like Sheldon is counting the costs of being in a relationship. That is true that he himself wanted to be in the relationship in the first place. So I'm not sure if I like the way writers want to depict Sheldon counting the costs of their relationship, I get the impression like he didn't want to be there. But Sheldon will know, deep down, that boy he wants to be in that relationship and close to Amy, if Amy is about to leave from his life (the Amy blow up scenario). He will acknowledge this at least when she is about to leave. He would acknowledge that he misses her even the first day she is gone. I don't think the Spiderman speech would be enough anymore. He has to confess his true deep down feelings to her face to face and not hide his true thoughts from her.

But wouldn't you think that somehow it would been mentioned if Leonard was going? If you rewatch it Penny tells Leonard that Amy told her that Amy was going to A funeral. Penny knew that Leonard also wanted tenure. Wouldn't Penny had mentioned to Leonard the shopping and the funeral right away? If Leonard hadn't of asked her about her day it would have never been mentioned.

If Amy had been honest with Penny when they were shopping for clothes and told her that she was going to the physicists Funeral things may been different. It may have been painful to watch but Amy brought this on herself.

Brought this on herself...is that some kind of competition..who is better girlfriend,  please... Amy  was with Sheldon and Penny with Leonard to support them, both Amy and Penny in her own way and  it's good, but it doesn't mean that Penny needs to look at Amy in such a contemptuous manner just because Amy does not dress like a she.

Amy were not lying to Penny, because Penny knew that Amy is going to the funeral with Sheldon. If Amy was trying to hide the fact that she is going to the funeral  she would lie to Penny.  And Sheldon also didn't knew that Leonard is going to the funeral. They all are agreed that they aren't going.

We could agree that both of them  Penny and Amy were unpleasant to each other.

When I wrote that Penny is litle bitchy I had in mind that in this season she is more vicious than ever before, not only for Amy. I do not want to argue and bring unrest. I have a right to think as I want and does not offend you. You have the right to defend Penny and I have a right to defend Amy, and everyone has an opinion on this subject. Any discussions are pointless because I'm not going to convince you to my opinion or you do not convince me to yours.

To be honest, I don't think they were implying Penny was being bitchy to Amy at all, it was probably just a look she gave that was meant to be "competitive", not unlike Amy's line of "Why is Penny here?". I do not think Penny was being a bitch towards Amy and I don't think Amy was being a bitch towards Penny. Raj on the other hand was another story: he offended Amy in 6x11 and apologized for upsetting her and there he goes making an even worse comment. I just read a review on IGN that pretty much sums up my feelings about the episode: give Amy a break, she's not a punching bag.

The Penny/Amy thing doesn't even make sense in the episode's timeline. Sheldon wants to cancel date night to go to the service and Amy suggests she attends. In the next scene, Penny tells Leonard she and Amy went shopping that day for dress for Amy to wear to the funeral. The problem is that both scenes happen on the same night because Sheldon and Leonard are wearing the same clothes from earlier in the day. Both apartment sets are lit for the evening. Thus, Penny and Amy can't have gone shopping that day for something to wear to the funeral because Amy didn't know she was going yet. Maddening.
