MJistheBOMB
Everyone was discussing Amy leaving, but no one ever mentioned or thought of Leonard leaving. Nice twist!!! Yes. I can see how this could work in our favor
Guest DroneInTheSun
I am dying here. What I would not give for a bone saw so I could cut your skulls open and get a good gander at how your brains work! Only in Shamy shipper land could "Leonard gets a job offer overseas" turn so quickly into "Sheldon might kiss Amy!" I mean, the speed by which this works is truly remarkable, I give it a standing ovation. Here's how the Shamy shipper brain works in episode teaser land: Penny buys an alarm clock ----> Sheldon kisses Amy Raj finds a diamond ring in the gutter ----> Sheldon proposes and kisses Amy Bernadette and Howard decide to adopt an Ethiopian baby ----> Just an excuse for Sheldon to kiss Amy Leonard buys a bunch of bananas ---> Does this prompt Sheldon to kiss Amy? Mary Cooper comes to visit Sheldon ----> Clearly this will prompt Sheldon to kiss Amy Dr. Gablehauser has a heart attack ----> Which will clearly prompt Sheldon to kiss Amy President Siebert kills a prairie dog with a gravy boat ----> Obviously this is going to cause Sheldon to kiss Amy Leonard and Penny decide to take falconry lessons - Yes! And Sheldon kisses Amy Raj's dog runs away and he replaces her with a poodle that is actually a ferret on steroids ---> I have never heard of a better rationale for Sheldon to kiss Amy! it's like, no matter what they throw at you, it always comes back to the words "Sheldon," "kiss," and "Amy." Bravo, Shamy shippers. Bravo. I actually made this post entirely for your benefit, because I know it drives you nuts. You're welcome. PS: You come across as really condescending. I'm not saying this is your intention, and like I said my own post wasn't even serious, but it can be really humiliating for someone to be mocked like that. I think you should maybe try and refrain yourself in the future. Not talking about the SIK doesn't make you better than the people who do. Just putting this out there. Lionne
I suppose I have a variety of responses to this, and they are: 1) I've been around the Shamy fandom a long time, and I think it should be very, very well established by this point in time that I love it and I spread a lot of love, support, warm fuzzies, analysis and praise around on a continual basis. I don't think that I've been called "Momma Lio" by many people in the fandom for a long time now without reason - I have always radiated a type of maternal affection and protectiveness for the fandom and the people in it, and gone out of my way in public and in private to give people pep talks about both the fandom, their fan fic or other works or relationships in the fandom, or about their private lives. Not to mention that I spend my time writing fan fics for the purpose of cheering people up or delighting them, or have given my time to beta for people in this community, including being in the process of doing this for you, yourself. If I didn't like you, I would never offer to do that. If I didn't have respect for the Shamy community, I wouldn't be here. I'm not that type of girl. I have a right to operate out of that basis of a relationship, that it's pretty widely known how I feel about the fandom and the people in it, and that those feelings are overwhelming towards love, care, concern and respect. If I choose to tease, it is with good humor, and it's definitely not an act of trying to put myself above anyone else. I'm as much a part of this group as anyone else, and from my position inside of it I can, at times, chose to tease it a little. 2) Because the Shamy fandom does have it's personality, and there are certain truths about that personality which, frankly, are pretty funny. We have a way of doubling back to the SIK (Sheldon-initiated kiss) in conversation at a rate of speed which is predictable and extremely comical. If we can't be objective about ourselves and, on occasion, laugh at ourselves, and we decide to take ourselves and this whole shipping business too seriously, then that's crossing a massive boundary into a realm which I perceive as incredibly unhealthy. People can go there if they want, but I'm not going to be able to go with them. And I should note, that this is a line that we all very, very often mock other ships for crossing - all the time. The minute we cross it, we become hypocrites, and I think that the occasional mocking of ourselves, or at least joking around a little, helps to keep things like that in check. 3) My apologies if my sense of humor has offended. However, my personal response to reading the replies was just to say "wow, we're at it again," and to start laughing. Please note the use of the word "we." Just the other night I was on the chat forum with everyone else, biting my nails and going "OMG" over the taping report with everyone else. Sitting around into the wee hours of the night being delighted and analyzing the meaning and getting into it. If I was even remotely "superior" to anyone else I wouldn't have been there, hugging people and laughing when we get a good Shamy episode, and grumping and debating and worrying when we get a bad or more controversial one. I'm no different, but the things that amuse me in this community - I'm going to crack the occasional joke about them. Most people seem to find it pretty wickedly hilarious, in part because it's true. I can look at the post I made and see that there's been a massive number of "like" clicks on it. However, if the majority here does not appreciate my sense of humor or the way I operate, I'll have no problem with being put in the corner and told to keep quiet, because it's not my intention to hurt anyone's feelings here, and never has been. Let me put it this way - when you made your post about the SIK, you knew you were teasing me. People know my feelings on how fast we get around to discussing it, and now there is the joke about the candy-filled steaks that you toss the lion to distract her while you have this conversation. I'm probably getting awfully fat on these steaks. Am I entirely happy to play in this joke, just say "NOM NOM NOM" and "pretend" that I'm off in my corner being quiet and chewing on a steak when in reality of course I am reading all of these posts and just grinning to myself, and occasionally rolling my eyes, because seriously - we're talking about it again? I have no problem playing into my part of the whole joke and shutting up when I knew people want to go ballistic on the subject - I have no issue with holding up my own end of the joke, or any bargain. Once you get to know Momma Lio a little better, you'll realize she didn't mean it that way. She's one of the warmest, friendliest people you'll encounter, and she's poking fun of herself too. If the same message came from one of the regular trolls, I would agree with you, but you can trust Lio.
Guest DroneInTheSun
I wasn't trying to imply that you don't like the fandom, nor that you don't invest a lot of your time in it, Lio. I just read your post and it seemed really dry and humorless to me. Like I said, I probably read it wrong; it's 2:30 am here and I obviously need some sleep. I'm sorry for annoying you. Nighty-night. wildcitygirl
Hey now, where's Nathan Fillion on that list? Haha Regarding the finale, I can very well see Sheldon giving Penny a hard time about this. Perhaps Leonard is considering the idea of leaving and Penny gets upset. I think Sheldon would patronize her: "But you're not the one who's schedules will suffer; you can drive yourself to work; etc etc" and maybe Penny will turn it around by asking him how he would feel if Amy had left. Although I'm pretty sure we can count on a happy ending.

I love Tom Lehrer. First heard the song about Lobachevsky (required listening for any math major) years ago, and I also like "New Math" and "Masochism Tango" is hilarious. Tom Lehrer would be perfect for the role of professor emeritus of mathematics at the university. I've been a Lehrer fangirl since discovering That Was The Year That Was as a teenager. "The Vatican Rag" was my introduction to Catholicism. Years later, when I hosted a weekly public radio show, Lehrer was a programming staple. "Lobachevsky" is one of my all-time favorite songs; "Ingrid Bergman playing part of hypotenuse" put me on the air room floor laughing the first time I heard it.
