I wouldn't be upset if we skipped to established minor physical contact, the kind that we've already seen on the show anyway. Now of course I wouldn't want anything meaningful like an AIK, let alone a SIK happening off screen, but to be honest Sheldon should have stopped whining about holding hands a long time ago, I don't mind not witnessing that transition. Also because I don't think the writers are going to show every single little step on screen and hand-holding is relatively minor. It'd be a lovely start of the season to see them at the movies maybe, and either Amy grabs his hand and he doesn't bat an eye or even show him expecting it or initiating it himself. Nice throwback to 6x02 but with upgrades.

I do not know if this is off-topic, but did you guys hear Jim Parson's siriusXM interview? He was asked about the addition of Amy Farrah Fowler and Bernadette.  He said "Adding those two characters was a stroke of genius on the part of the writers not just because they added them but because of when they added them,"... Basically, Amy and Bernadette were not needed at that time, and in Jim's opinion - the addition was really organic because the writers did not come out with a plan to turn them into a couple, but just observe the actors/characters chemistry and see where it goes.

Then he adds that, "Thank god we had the luxury of doing that because it allowed what worked to stick around... " and "it's a complete enhancement" and  how he's so greatful to have Mayim as an actor and Amy as a character to play off against and how his job is so much more fun/and/interesting with Amy's addition.

Then he was asked about the spanking and he said it was "heaven", lol. Basically he was annoyed at himself because he found it so amusing he messed up a lot of takes. And, he's like Mayim is always game for such scenes.

Typical Koops.

I think I know my opinion on a subject and then she waltzes along, drops some wisdom bombs, and I'm all like "....... dammit, that crafty bitch makes a good point. I don't know what to believe anymore!"

hehe, like I said a few pages back, TBBT is like Apple: they invent things before you know you want them :p And I totally agree with Jim, I think that's why some people were so annoyed by the addition, because it wasn't needed at the time. But it ensured the show didn't have to resort to bringing in new characters to fix a drop in ratings, that definitely gives them more room about what to do with the stories. I'm kind of hoping S7 is going to be a sort of S4 2.0, not in terms of adding new characters, but sticking to bidding goodbye to those old character stereotypes/dynamics where the well has run dry (Raj's mutism, Shamy's clueless VS frustrated dynamic and Lenny's insecure VS uncommitted dynamic).

I'm not someone who was annoyed by the spanking scene, I found it a funny gag, but it does bother me that it seems to have become a defining scene for Shamy that everyone asks about.

I tried to find that interview on Sirus site and cannot find it.  Do you have a link?

You need to go to http://www.siriusxm.com/OnDemand, sign up for a trial account (don't worry it is free)... open the player, login, go to "SiriusXM on demand", pull up the Frank Decaro show... it's the 3rd episode on the list, Jim comes in the last 10 minutes. You'll probably need to wait for an hour before you can hear him because they have an annoying limit on the number of fast-forwards you can do. But it's a fun interview. He talks about TBBT, spanking, paleyfest, the new york times article. He is really complimentary of Mayim and Amy's addition to the show.

It was definitely was funny but I think the reason people make a big deal about it and always bring it up was because it kinda was a big deal at the time. It's a scene I will never forget, that's for sure. Not because it was kinky and turned me on or something. LOL...but because it was just one of those shocking moments I would have never seen coming and it was initiated by Sheldon Cooper of all people. How many spanking scenes like that occur on TV? That was the first I had ever seen (although I know it's not the first in history but my point is it's rare). I'm not at all surprised that people always want to ask about it. The writers are creative and did a wonderful job on that and I appreciate how they come up with different ways to get Sheldon comfortable with touching Amy. Even if it was punishment in this case. LOL.

You know I was wondering about this possible scenario bearing in mind we know what coming in ep 23 and if people would feel cheated, we know Sheldon is working on his physical contact thing with Amy but what if he gets past that during the off season and by time s7 comes around he's already OK and comfortable with hand holding and cuddles and possibly little kisses and we don't see the working on it stage

I think it would be fairly realistic. I struggle to believe that with 4 months of probably spending more time together than ever before, after what happened in 6x23 and after we've heard all this "working on it" stuff this season, they would still be stuck at the same stage they've always been. 4 months is a long time after something so massive as 6x23. Before 6x23, at least there was the excuse that Sheldon was "hiding" stuff from Amy, but the cards are on the table now. I would really have to work hard to suspend my disbelief if there's been no progress over the summer. I think kissing is a pretty big deal though, I don't know that the writers would go there off-screen, but who knows.

PS Rach, your avatar puts me in such a good mood! :)

I'm thinking they're going to pull a 5x24/6x02. 5x24: Sheldon holds Amy's hand. 6x02: Amy insists Sheldon holds her hand at the cinema, and given the dialogue between the two, I'm 100% sure that this "preposturous insistance on holding hands" is something they negociated over the summer, probably because of the handholding during Howard's launch.

Like koops, I think that after something as massive as 6x23 they have to develop something over the summer. A nice way for us to witness that would be that Leonard comes back in episode 2, because that way we could see the Shamy spending time together in 7x01. Or if Leonard comes back in 7x01, they could have Sheldon telling Leonard about his summer with Amy and they would show flashbacks so we could witness it. But either way, they can't not make some progress this summer, it's just impossible.

On the subject of Shamy progress during the time Leonard's away.I'd be ok with things like Sheldon becoming more comfortable with hand holding or giving Amy a hug or even cuddling on the sofa while watching a movie without complaining, happening off camera. However,i would be gutted if we didn't get to see the first SIK.After waiting so long and being so patient(i know how Amy feels LOL)it's the least we deserve!

I think the writers well thought it out,  and it was prefect move not to make them couple from the beggining, thanks to this we could watch whole procces of the formation of a bond between them, as they made the delight and admiration how  their minds working, how brilliantly they understand each other in a half a way, and that was important in order to show that the fascination between Shaldon and Amy is on a intelectual and science level, but it is something more in it, it is in how similar they are, like one mind and one soul. And thanks to this physical part can be more true and more sweet between them, because they understand each other in that important level , so on physical level they will understand each other and thrust each other so well to.
And that actors/characters chemistry is something what make those scenes more special and brilliantly played. It is visible and so beautiful that he talks about it as often as he can, that he is so greatful that Mayim plays Amy. It is in a way how he takes care of her, how he helped her at the beggining and later he is always there for her. They admire one another and their friendship is something special. That's why I'm not surprised that he said that this spanking scene was a "heaven" for him,  and amusing but in a sweet way, I bet that for Mayim it wasn't so embarrassing scene, and she would feel safe and comfortable because it was Jim who did it, and that chemistry and so special bond, that is helping them create so wonderful and beautiful people as Sheldon and Amy.
Monique I agree it will be remembering for the end. That they did it. It was so funny scene, and so sweet.

I'm rewatching Season 2, and I realise that the way Sheldon's been treating Amy lately is the way he treats Ramona in The Cooper/Nowitzki Theorem episode.
Gross.

Oh Misophonia you should see smile on my face when I saw that you had updated new chapter. Like every chapter it read so well that I regretted that there is no next chapter. Thank you..
Of course it was so obvious that Penny and Bernadette are dying to know what had happened between Sheldon and Amy in Texas. You can almost feel their curiosity,  and that it is so hard for them not to do something to make Amy talk, but it is so wonderfull that they are so good friends and that they respect Amy and Sheldon's will.
I was so nicely surprised that Missy called Amy to apologise. It is so nice from her side that she tries so hard to make things right and, that she really regrets that she did it. You showed her character so well. Outside she tries to play cool girl and clever woman who knows how to take advantage of it that she is beautiful, and is successful with men to get it what she wants to achieve without much straining. But deep inside she has a lot of feelings to her brother and she can be caring like she is to George. She has a lot of feelings inside her, and there's much stronger bond between her and her brothers than she  wants to admit. I think that in this think she is little like Sheldon. You really did a great job Missy's character but all your characters are so full of feelings and their complicated character traits are making them more true, interesting and that's why it is so wonderful story

He's never yelled at Amy before out of contempt or tried to get away from her because he hated her so much. Ramona was a creepy stalker who started controlling his life, Amy is an intelligent, patient woman who is giving him romantic feelings that he is trying to reject. He has a lot more respect for her, even if he's not showing it as much lately. Even if he were treating her exactly the same his attitude towards each woman, as you know, is completely different and 6.23 proves that he's learning to accept that even more. So don't give up hope yet!

Yes...if you don't mind attaching it to a post here, we could all download the interview then.

I cant figure out how to attached it to a post...is there an outside place i can upload it to provide a link? or is there something I am missing on the reply options?

ETA: Or I can email it to someone to post for me :)

When you post, you can go back and edit using "advanced editing" and then they have a paperclip that allows you to attach files.
