Love that first photo so much ruby! The modern-day Curies! I wish TPTB realized what a goldmine they have if they choose to exploit the science power-couple! I want to see more of that stuff.

Right now I just tried to catch again from what angle that photo was taken in the episode and then I ended up watching it. :p I feel this observation is very unpopular but what the hoo... It felt like Sheldon's ranting here in Vacation Solution with Amy being straight-faced and that she just roll her eyes on him feels oddly similar to some of what he'd done here in season 6, only that his words were harsher in season 6. So, yeah, for me (before y'all go berating me on this) I just wanted to get that out and say that I do agree that Sheldon's been an more than an ass this last part of season 6 but this episode, Vacation Solution, needed to be redone in another future episode because the seemingly poorly-written episodes, 6.19 and 6.20 (Or, okay, so let's include 6.21 though the dominorgasm moment's the only odd thing for me) suits this profile of a very irritating Sheldon with an eye-rolling Amy, I need him to apologize for some of those.

Wait, nevermind. I guess the vindication's in 623 anyway.

I agree.   However, if he comes on, it would be fun for him to be Penny's meth cooking brother and Penny tries to have Amy help him with his addiction problems.   As she is helping him, he develops a bit of a crush on her giving Sheldon conniptions.   :icon_lol:    It might make Sheldon leap into action.   :icon_lol::icon_wink:

Monique, your video is beautiful!   Thank you for posting it and creating it.  Lovely!

I agree it would be great idea... we need someone to make Sheldon jealous, to give him some incentive to act, that he needs to realize that he have to try more, and harder for her, because nothing is ever permanently and forever. Maybe that idea would be great if we could see Sheldon's brother... (we are talking about it on chat on thuesday) give to us some sexy actor and he could play his brother and all girls would sigh for him. It would be funny if we could see all guys little jealous about their girls..

So for the record, I'm old enough to remember the original Bob Newhart on NaN and watched the original Newhart in real time...

(Actually the original was on when I was alive, just not old enough to understand, lol)

Plus, I watched Mr. Wizard religiously every morning before school. Does that make me a real life AFF? lol

I hope so, cause I IDENTIFY :)

The episode was cute. I love Bob, but I really missed Amy.

I did as well and it was weird that no reference to her was made.  She too probably grew up watching Professor Proton and so it would have made perfect sense to include her or at least explain why she could not be a part of the thing.  It was very odd.

I don't think not mentioning her was weird, it didn't seem like there was any point in mentioning her and it would have probably seemed forced. There have been eps before where she was missing and they didn't mention her. No big deal.

I do wonder though why they decided to exclude her altogether. I thought it would have been a great occasion to have Lenny and Shamy meet the Professor together, ala games night, and I can picture Amy getting excited about the guy too, throwing Penny even more for a loop. And by the sounds of things Mayim was also disappointed she didn't have a chance to work with Bob Newhart.

I do think the writers really have been struggling with how to write Shamy this second half of the season, so they've limited the amount of screentime of these two to a minimum (explains the total lack of interaction in 6x23 too). So I think her absence in this one might have been deliberate. To be honest, I'm happier this way than with nasty lines. They really need a nice summer regroup to bring back a new Shamy next season. Like I said in the episode thread, this episode proves that Sheldon can be hilarious while being adorable, there's no need for him to be nasty to get the laughs out of the audience. If they can apply that to Shamy to a degree, they'll be just fine.

We had discussed it before and she did work during Passover in previous years. Also she would have mentioned that in the interview about Bob. I don't think her exclusion had anything to do with the holiday.

I agree...it wasn't because of Passover. Simon and Melissa worked and both of them are Jewish as well.  I know she is more religious than them, but I am sure she would have worked if they had a part for her to work with.   I agree it would have been more fun to have the two couples there.  Clearly they had a problem this latter half and minimized the Shamy time.  I don't understand what happened and what the issue is, but it is bothersome.  I really hope they can fix it and get back on the right track for S7.

I just find it ironic that they seem to "struggle" so much to have Sheldon be even slightly affectionate with his girlfriend because of how hard they try to stick to his characterization, but then have no problem having an episode like this where he is a totally adorable ball of empathy. Double standards much? So is Sheldon anti-affection and against physical contact or not? Why is it such a big deal only when directed to his girlfriend?

Melissa was in that episode because they separated the storylines. I don't think there's something up or there's something about the writers ganging up on the shippers to make them suffer.

Last year too. Mayim wasn't with the Hawking episode. It wasn't Passover too but I don't think it's because they think shamy is not vital. It's just all about what story they wanted to tell. It just so happened that for this episode, Molaro sort of based his real-life experience here in this episode to Sheldon and Sheldon and Proton were the focus.

Edit: They are just some serious asses huh? I feel I should take back what I said.

Oh I didn't mean they want to make the shipper suffer, I think they're just not sure how to write them right now so the less they have to get them to interact the easier their job is. I mean, it's glaringly obvious we are at a tipping point with Shamy, and I bet it's not an easy one to handle. But I do think they worry a tiny bit too much about it, since they obviously have no problem with Sheldon being affectionate per-se.

Hmmm, I agree that recently they seemed to be uncertain with how they would make them interact. Part of me though thinks that there's something up under their sleeves for them to make it very obvious that Sheldon has no trouble showing affection to other people except for his girlfriend. I feel there's an explanation for most things. If only there's a time where we'd be able to ask the writers good questions besides Comic Con....

I mean, Arthur sat on his spot and it's like none of the three even noticed! Though, it was sort of an emergency anyway...

I think it may be to do with how much she means to him, he knows what Amy would like from him and we know he's working on it, so maybe he doesn't want to get her hopes up about everything till he's ready, which he basically says in ep 23 anyway

You beat me to it rach! I was just going to say that, in a way, when people normally like someone they deliberately try to withhold displays of affection because they do mean something more than if they're directed to a friend or a relative. On the other hand though, it always makes me go back to the V-day hug and how it made no sense in that context to have him not at least try to return the hug, and cut the knee-pat. But I sound like a broken record on that scene so I just make myself cringe. :p lol

From the writers' POV, obviously it's easier to deal with a Professor Proton because it's a one off and it doesn't have any deeper meaning for Sheldon on a romantic level of course. That's why I think they are struggling with what to do next with Shamy, because Amy is there all the time.

Anyway, I was just thinking it would be awesome if on the next PP appearance he really hits it off with Amy and he actually bonds with her. He was obviously feeling a bit out of place with L/P/S, it'd be hilarious if he came back to meet her and really like her.
