I can't tell you how many times I have gone back to that episode and thought to myself how truly special that meeting was.   They connected immediately and she literally beguiled him from the moment she spoke.   I still love "can I buy you a beverage" because it was clear that Sheldon was under her spell.   He had just moments before told his friends he would be turning around and walking out, but instead he was intrigued and could not take his eyes off of her.  It was adorable and still is.   Such a wonderful beginning of the sweetest romance on TV ever.   LOL!

Amen to that star...  your words get to the heart   LOL

They are adorable in that scene, He went straight to her heart, she blew out the dust from his heart and soul. He awoke in her feelings and thanks to him, she flourishes like a flower.

In the case of Shamy their perfect match isn’t just about the words they said, but their  actions, chemistry, mutual attraction.  Interests can arise from words, but the first glance can determine how the rest of the story ends.

Bill Prady tweeted this a few minutes back:

"Most amazing Sheldon/Amy story of the year airs tonight (plus amazing Wolowitz talent revealed, plus D&D)! (US/Canada)#bigbangtheory"

And also, this: "When @SteveMolaro told me what he intended for Amy and Sheldon in the episode that airs tonight, my jaw dropped. True. #bigbangtheory"

Finally, Simon tweeted: "2nd to last Big Bang of the season tonight! Major events - Sheldon & Amy as you've never seen them and Howard as you've never heard him."

Ah! See! I'm really glad to hear that the idea came from Molaro. I don't know why some were under the impression he was more of a Lenny person. And it really makes me happy to hear all the excitement buzzing around the episode from cast and crew. I know BP was excited back when they filmed it, glad to hear more from him! I'm just so excited!! It's going to be epic! :)

I'm so excited I might throw up. It's hard getting through the day with a straight face.

First of all... I am dying for tonight's episode.

Second of all... this is off topic... but after watching the clip for the finale, I can't help but wonder why they wouldn't put a shamy scene in the finale with sheldon talking to amy about being jealous of leonard.  there seriously could have been something in there, easily, with amy comforting him, that would be a big deal for the finale.  I don't want to get my hopes up, but I've been wondering that maybe there's some sort of secret scene (like someone posted in here earlier), but I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment.

I totally agree.  As I watched the grocery scene I felt, why is this conversation going on with Penny and not with Amy.  I don't have an issue with the scene itself, but given that he draws his comfort from Amy and he goes to Amy for advice and trusts her, it would have made a lot of sense to have seen them be the ones shopping together and talking.   For some reason they wanted to keep them not together in this episode which I find silly.

It's just that there's some call to Sheldon and Penny being the two people who's closest to Leonard and they are showing the difference here of how Penny's taking it and how Sheldon's taking it. Their conversation was about Sheldon trying to tell Penny she should be alarmed now that they're stable, so they're showing that Penny's grown compared to season 2.

Though, I think that should be reserved for the episode thread and not here.

I don't have a problem with Sheldon talking about these things with Penny.  I agree that it makes sense because of the relationship between the three of them and especially Penny's big sister-like relationship with Sheldon.

While Amy does offer him support and "education" about some social situations, I think that something like this that specifically has to do with Leonard is more appropriate coming from Penny.

I might be the only one but the whole finale story irks me for reasons other than what irks most. It doesn't make ANY sense for an experimental physicist who works with lasers to be working for a THEORETICAL physicist on a BOAT in the middle of the North Sea. It doesn't make any sense that said theoretical physicist, who is friends with Sheldon, would get Leonard through Howard's recommendation. They set up the plot just to give Sheldon something to be jealous about, but they could have accomplished this in tons of different, more realistic, ways. So yeah, I'm irked about the science more than the whole relationship dynamics.

But with regards to this particular scene, I'd actually rather see Penny give him tips about how to behave rather than Amy. I think it's endearing when Amy tries to teach him, but I don't want it to constantly come across as if she's the "normal" one who has to tell him how to behave. I'd like Amy to still be half-way there when it comes to social situations, but not quite there yet, and retain some of her social inappropriateness.

I wonder if having Leonard on a boat in the North Sea will make it so that they can't be in contact with him for some reason--no skyping, maybe no emailing or calling?  I mean, it does seem that such a research vessel would have all kinds of technology, but maybe something goes wrong and they can't contact him--it would be much more interestiing/worrisome, etc., if he's on a ship than if he were simply in England or Switzerland or some other research facility.

I would hope there's a specific reason why they would put him on a boat, specifically, and in the North Sea, etc.

But I agree, koops, I think it's more interesting to keep Amy a little more on the socially awkward side.  I liked the way she helped him in the Tenure ep, which kind of made sense since the guys were in competition and the girls sided with their men, etc., but it's more fun if she's more her blunt, unfiltered self.
