koops
Besides the fact that the way he delivered that line was incredibly sensual, that even though I was spoiled to the bone when said that prolonged "I" I thought for a second he was going to kiss her, I think it was very deliberate by the writers to include the word "erotically". The line would have worked just fine without it, but I think they wanted to really emphasize that this was sexual in Sheldon's mind and not in the naive way with words he had in 6x14 either. eta: Does anybody know what Bill means by this? silverangel
Another thing I want to add is about how Sheldon knew EXACTLY how to start their little adventure. I like that he said "I LEAD YOU TO A SECLUDED AREA" He could have said we go to a secluded area or you lead me, but he took the initiative to be as I said before "THE MAN!" and lead "HIS WOMAN" to this magical private place. I like the symbolism as people have stated already that they are actually in a secluded area His bedroom on HIS BED! not hers. I'm glad this happened in his space and he was Leading the way so to speak it goes along with my theory that Sheldon although still very innocent and unsure about sexual matters, he already knows he wants to be the dominant one and the one in charge which of course fits his personality so well and Amy fits him perfectly cause she has no problem being the 'submissive one" so to speak. She already proved that back when she let him spank her, but again tonight she was very demure and shy about telling him what she was going to do to him. And its complete opposite from how she behaves when she gets drunk and turns into a sex kitten willing to come on to him first. i think she prefers to let him take the lead you can see it on her face both here and in Fish guts. Another thing I like is that he lets the dice decide what he is going to do next instead of just saying it like she was. Shows that he is willing to give up a little bit of control to let fate step in. That he recognizes that sometimes you can't just make up ALL The rules...sure all games have 'SOME RULES!" which they already discuss the need for some rules in the car between Amy and Bernadette going to Vegas. Amy wants boundaries she needs them and Sheldon does too, but what's changed is he is willing to not be totally controlling and want to punish her like in Fish Guts, but being gentle and let the dice make the decision. He did that once before in another episode let the dice choose for him all his decisions, but this time it meant so much more because he was willing to change up the rules. When she said "Keep rolling!" The old Sheldon would have said no we cant' do that what it says goes, but he just quietly picked up the dice and was willing to re roll for her basically symbolizing that he will not only change his own rules for her which he's done in the past, but also not complain about it like he usually does. He's maturing and realizing its okay to take a chance, roll dice and if things don't turn out the way we won't we can just try again. Don't have to give up or stick to hard rigid rules anymore, but be little bit more flexible. FLEXIBILITY is huge!! Sheldon being dominant and her being submissive like we've seen in past is one thing cause it just shows strictness, but in Love Spell potential we see the shift from dominant and submissive, to mutual gratification and willingness from both of them to give the other what they want even if it means letting Amy changed rules up a bit. Then part about "I kiss you back." is important because it shows his willingness to reciprocate and the part where he says "I erotically caress you...that was good because those words he used very mature, very sexual and not silly like when he use to say stuff like "I was too busy mashing all of her desireable lady parts" LOL now he's gone from talking about sex like a child to talking about it like an adult would using adult language and describing actually body parts "lips." nose" etc.. The nose part was cute because it still gave just that hint of innocence like Sheldon wasn't quite ready to say something like "your face or breasts." He picks her nose and you can see he looks at her nose right before he looks down at the dice and says nose. He was just making it up as he went along and still doesn't totally get what is okay to touch and how yet, but he's learning. and Amy telling him to keep rolling let him know that okay caressing her nose doesn't work, lets try something else. Awwwwwwwww...its just perfect these two. By the way my count of how many times I've watched just this one bedroom scene is now at 50. LOL going back for 51. See ya You just read my mind.... great insight..... I thought about it to...he is her man and he is wants to lead her a little, and be dominant, but there is so much vulnerability and innocence in them at the same time. There is right moment when he shows his dominance and was her man and she was his sensitive and fragile woman, and there was right moment while playing that D&D when they both are so innocent and fragile, and then she lead him a little by saying keep rolling, like in a little foreplay.. when woman is saying keep going... Yeah I noticed it to that he wasn't ready to say breasts, and then threw the dice and waited what the dice will say, he just said a eroticaly caress your.... and pause.... and dice said what he will caress. And yes another proof of him being more mature and that he is ready for next step, is that he talked about body parts which he will caress, and kiss, and that he is so sure that he wants to take of her armor, and do it with her character, earlier he could freak out and ran away. He let her change the rules, earlier he could bitching, that she did it but now he wants make her happy. After when he said that:I know it doesn't seem like it to you, but, for me, what we have is extremely intimate, and then she said: It's just..part of me wants more. He said: It's only been three years; here we are in bed together. He knew that she is dissapointed a little, but he sees her love and understanding when she smile and says that they should go, that's why he wants to continue game and finish it to make her happy, but for himself to.... oh he wants it to.To show her that he wants it but he isn't ready for real sex but he really will try because he has that desire in him. I don't know, but it sounds like that may be the case. in my little D&D group there were 4 girls and 2 guys and it started with us 4 girls, with our dungeon master, who was a girl. It's happened twice already and it's too cute to not happen again. Great point, and what an amazing wink to Fish Guts. At the time, Sheldon was tricked into intimacy. This time, he's the one initiating the D&D sex and Amy follows. Brb stabbing myself in the face.

koops
I kept saying it in the chat and I continue saying it now. There are so many layers in that scene that the more I watch it, the better it gets. I always find something new to pay attention to, I haven't been able to watch the scene without pausing every few sentences because there's so much to take in. I think when I watched the episode for the first time I was maybe slightly underwhelmed and for the first time I realized the downside of being spoiled: I knew what was going to happen and I was more anxious that it would not play out the way I envisioned it than I was able to get fully immersed in the story. But once I got past the first viewing I started appreciating it more and more. And there's still so much to comment on. The one thing I was thinking though is that it has surely been a tough year for Amy, all things considered. No wonder she seemed so disillusioned. She definitely needed the reassurance and care she got in this episode. It's so important for them to be in sync considering how delicate their relationship is, but Sheldon is nothing if not committed.
rachelshamyfan
I've mentioned this already but I'm gonna say it again, I loved the bedroom scene, so very intimate and eye coitus to the max! phantagrae
Late last night (or early this morning, depending on how you look at it) I had finally watched the bedroom scene 2 or 3 times and I remember having all kinds of what seemed to be brilliant insights, but then, of course, I slept... So, I've been trying to organize my Shamy thoughts. I did comment on the episode in general up in the ep thread, but I wanted to wallow in the Shamy pool a little more. I think that Sheldon's line about being through the emotional wringer over the course of the game was an interesting, though surely unintentional, little indicator. When the girls first come back from their failed trip, Amy is feeling bad about ruining the getaway, and when she offers to leave before ruining the night for everyone else, Sheldon gives her a "that's my girl!"--meaning it was a good thing that she was removing herself and not going to ruin the night/weekend. "Bad" Sheldon. But once he gets past the idea of playing D&D with girls, the next thing we see is Amy seated next to him on the couch and the two of them truly enjoying themselves, with him turning to her with his reactions (rather than just saying them to Howard or Leonard or the room at large.) He turns to her several times to share how excited or moved or delighted he is with each step in the game, etc. I like that they were all having a good time and that Sheldon and Amy seemed to be as happy as everyone else, both with each other and with the evening in general. When Penny mader her suggestion and then Bernie cast the spell, I think Amy was immediately wary, but Sheldon was still a little confused or unsure of exactly what was going to happen. The look on his face when Howard was describing what was supposedly happening looked to me like one of "Where are you going with this? Is it going to be something I don't want?" not one of eager anticipation. I don't think it's that Sheldon didn't know what "do it in the game" meant, but that he wasn't sure how far Howard was going to go or what he was going to say about what they all wanted or expected. Amy, of course, felt embarrassed and humiliated right away. I don't think that Penny intended anything bad by it, nor did Bernie. I mentioned this some time before, in discussing the taping report, I believe, but I think that it's kind of like when your girlfriends know you like a guy and in order to try to "help" you, they suggest something like a game of spin-the-bottle, in the hopes of putting you and the guy you like in a position where you end up kissing. But in this case, Amy knows that it's not that simple and she also knows that her relationship with Sheldon is very different from the other 2 couples, and even Raj and Lucy, if you want to count them. But Sheldon's initial reaction when she leaves isn't "poor Amy!" or "you were mean to my girlfriend" or anything like that. His reaction was more about girls being emotional. It was perhaps a bit of a knee-jerk reaction, but I don't think it was about instant sympathy or anything. He got out of her way when she went by but he seemed surprised by her reaction, not torn or hurt. And I think it's important to note that he apparently went back there to check on her at the urging of the others, not out of his own motivation. That being said, I do think it's important that as soon as she explained why she was upset, he wasn't trying to weasel out of talking to her or comforting her. And I loved his little horse joke--the way he kind of chuckled over it (and bit his bottom lip! Oh, Jimmy!) But when she asked him directly about ever becoming intimate his tone and demeanor changed immediately. Though he acknowledged that it was a difficult subject, he didn't tap dance around it or try to change the subject. And I think that their relationship truly is intimate for him--emotionally and intellectually intimate, even psychologically intimate, if you will. Intimate in every way except physically. She's the first person he's met who has drawn him past his natural boundaries, who can get inside his head and if he were able to admit or acknowledge or understand it, get inside his heart. His relationship with her drove him to take the extraordinary step of asking her to be his girlfriend. That had NEVER happened before. His relationship with her, even before they became bf/gf, made him slip an intellectual/psychological/emotional gear and compensate with cats. That had NEVER happened before. His relationship with her has led him to compromise again and again over things physical (hand-holding) and intellectual (their argument over whose field is better/more important, etc) and emotional (comforting her to the point of cuddling). Those things had NEVER happened before, at least not on this scale and to this degree. He has let her inside of himself in ways that he has not let anyone else. Even though Leonard and Penny probably know him better than any others, their understanding of him is more along the lines of family. His mother knows him and understands a lot of what makes him tick emotionally, and L&P, like older siblings, understand how to smooth things over, how to talk him off the ledge when need be, and they've both, apparently, had to take care of him when he's sick and so forth--but like family. Amy, on the other hand, has a different kind of understanding of him. I think that what he shares with her is different from what he shares with the others, primarily because she's "one of [his] kind", more like him than anyone else. They have a sort of unspoken connection that was apparently there from the first time they met and has only grown. It reminds me of a great line from a great X-Files fic (by the great author Penumbra). Scully is talking about how her family reacts to Mulder attending family gatherings with her. She says, "They know how close we are..." then says, "But nobody knows how we are." Anyway, back to the bedroom... I do love that he's trying to be honest with her and explain his understanding of their intimacy, but of course, she loves him and wants that other kind of intimacy. And though he understands what she means, he's just not at that place yet. I love her "wow, talk dirty to me " reaction. But I also love that though Sheldon initially went back there to check on her at the insistence of the others, he stayed to talk to her and got serious and sat down on the bed with her--not continuing the conversation from his standing position, or staying near the door, but coming in and sitting down with her. And then, of course, most importantly, he insisted that she stay a moment longer. She had not asked him for anything but clarification, or explanation. She hadn't asked him to demonstrate his interest in intimacy or to kiss her or even hug her or hold her hand. She was ready to pick up her burden and go back out there. As others have mentioned, I love the way he kind of shyly suggested that they continue with the love spell and see how it would play out, the way he set the scene, the way he made the first move, the way he asked her what she would do next. And I love the way he said, "I kiss you back..." without hesitation. The only hesitation is about what the dice roll will be (and I'm still going to snark about the use of the D&D dice, though I know why they did it this way. ) I also want to jump on the bandwagon in reference to the way Jim/Sheldon said the "I..." before he went on to "erotically..." His voice was so wonderfully quiet and dark... Brrr! I like what Jim said in that THR interview, where he mentioned the couples making these huge steps by doing something very small. It's not as if Sheldon and Amy ripped off their clothes and hopped in the sack, or even shared a kiss. But the tiny step of role-playing with the D&D setting was a huge step in that Amy finally understands more about where Sheldon is in relation to her. The information she was not privy to from the Cooper/Kripke episode--that Sheldon was working on his issues--has finally been explained to her. And his explanation that before her he had never thought about being intimate with anyone means that now that he has met her, he has a reason to consider it, even if it's taking him a while to get there. That he is considering it at all is a major step for him, and at last she is no longer in the dark about what he (eventually) might want. Especially since he seems to be able to imagine what he might do. It's not as if he's imagining something random. He's imagining removing her "armor" (maybe some day he'll burn those @#$#$ cardigans...), kissing her back(!) on the lips, eroticism, nibbling, etc. I'm sure I've gone on way too long, but I wanted to add one random, but important observation. "Love was the ticket to the top of the local and national ratings for "The Big Bang Theory"Thursday night. The CBS sitcom attracted 15.7 million viewers with a plot that suggested Sheldon and Amy might be getting closer. Viewers could see for sure that Raj and Lucy were closer. They kissed. And Simon Helberg, who plays Howard, demonstrated an amazing gift for mimicking Al Pacino and Nicolas Cage. "Big Bang" delivers its season finale next week." He's imagining removing her "armor" (maybe some day he'll burn those @#$#$ cardigans...), kissing her back(!) on the lips, eroticism, nibbling, etc. I'm sure I've gone on way too long, but I wanted to add one random, but important observation.I SAW JIMMY'S BELLYBUTTON!!!!! :D I like everything you said and ESPECIALLY your last sentence re Jim
koops
I actually am not sure that his reaction to Howard was that he didn't get she was hurt, I think it was one of those "Get your women in line" moments, where he doesn't want to show that he's upset she's upset so he covers it up with other stuff. Because as soon as she leaves he looks down at his lap like everyone else and you can tell he knows what's happening, but because he is completely inexperienced he has no idea how to handle the situation so he just resorts to what he knows to show his anger: say that girls ruin D&D. He never had to deal with his Amy being that upset about something so personal that involved him before, he just doesn't know what he's meant to do. I've said many times that I think Sheldon tries as hard as he can to avoid any sort of confrontation or to reveal too much of what goes on in his mind unless he has no choice, which is what happens when she asks him flat out if they're ever going to get intimate: once he knows he can't avoid it anymore, he gets serious and deals with it. And for someone with no experience he does a great job in those situations. eta: I was also going to say that, as much as I love the girls, I miss when Sheldon and Amy used to spend time together as friends. Now, don't get me wrong, I don't mean that I want them to go back to S4 Shamy, but i think it would be nice if they showed them enjoying fun stuff together again next season, instead of sort of showing that Amy finds what she does with the girls fun and what she does with Sheldon is more proper relationship-y stuff. The D&D night last night was exactly that: I loved that they were having so much fun together and that they were sharing the excitement about it and bonding over it (like many said, the way he kept turning to her all the time). I do think it would be much easier for Sheldon to progress if he's put in these situations where he can share common fun interests with Amy rather than doing more typical relationship stuff, because that's when their connection is at its best, and it would provide plenty of unconventional romantic situations for them to be in. I think in general I'm not a fan of the girls/guys segregation. I appreciate the girl posse and that Penny now has friends of her own to hang out with, but I think there's been too much of that and it'd be nice to mix it up a bit, not just in terms of Amy with Sheldon (because she was his own friend first and foremost after all), but with the other girls too. I don't know--the fact that he acknowledges that it was the others that sent him in there to talk to her tells me that he didn't think it was that serious or something. I don't think he felt bad for her. I think his reaction to her storming out was more along the lines of his reaction at the beginning to her saying that she was going to leave so as not to ruin anyone's weekend. I mean, I think that he knew she was upset when she blew past him, but I don't think he was flummoxed about what to do about it. I think his initial reaction--"see what happens when you let girls play" was his honest reaction. Girls get upset over crazy things--"delightfully mysterious or bat-crap crazy?!" I don't know that he entirely understood what it was that had upset her.

He was angry that she would pick the girls over him and covered it up with a general sentence about girls being crazy. I do agree that it was the others that coaxed him into going after her, but I think it was because he truly had no clue what to do. He still needs guidance. silverangel
I SAW JIMMY'S BELLYBUTTON!!!!! :D I agree with you... and great insight .... I especially love that part about Jim's bellybutton...
silverangel
It is so meaningful that in the bedroom scene after that conversation with Amy Sheldon about their intimacy in their relationship .. when he want's to finish game he said that: My Elven magic-user and your half-orc warrior did have a love spell cast on them. We wouldn't really be playing the game right if we didn't see that through. And after Amy's ok he said: I believe that, uh, we just killed a dragon. I love it because he is so honest with her, and he shared his feelings with her and he showed her his fragile side, he showed her that he loves her... and then when they whant to continue game and he said about a love potion casted by them... and in that moment that sentence I believe that we just killed the dragon was metaphor of this that he dealed with his problems, by saying those things to Amy, by being honest and caring and showing his love, by being with her and for her, and that love spell is casted on him to, I think that it is his way of saying: I love you, to Amy. I love his voice when they played in this sexy D&D... especially ... this I erotically caress your... so sensual..
