silverangel
Happy mothers day to all mothers   O wow so many wonderful insights. I haven't been here two days and and when I entered here I was sure, that there would definitely read a lot of great posts. I agree with this  ZQ metaphore of feelings to changes in him and to Amy. He always said that LN as Spock was the best for him and his emotions for LN were so strong. Then in s6 when the changes in him are so visible, and meaningful, he ment about ZQ as new spock, and that ZQ was "a weird, wonderful, unrepeatable event". First Leonard said "Uh, you were worried about Zachary Quinto, being the new Spock, but you wound up liking him." It is like a metaphor of changes in him, in his life. First he tried to deny it, and worried, and had bad feelings about his changes, and when he realize that this changes is good for him(and we all know what he needed to realize it), and he wants it ( bedroom scene), he started to show his honesty, and vulnerability, and that he can take care for  Amy, he can show her that he is her man. It was great metaphor. And I'm happy  that thanks to that bedrooms scene Amy knows on which stage in this relationship they are. She knows now what he wants, that he want's her to, that only she is this special person with who he wants to be intimate, that for her he changed himself, and he wants to surrender himself to her, and only for her he shows his fragile side, and emotions. And I think that now for him his changes are a weird, wonderful, unrepeatable event, once in a life time. Yeah Leonard was right Sheldon, and you know it: relax, sometimes change is good. phantagrae
I'm not sure it's the new/old Spock as much as a younger/older Spock thing.  Spock in the original Pilot was younger, closer in age to the character now in the movies (it's specified that the events in the pilot happened thirteen years prior to the first episode of the original series) .  So, he may have had his struggles controlling his emotions when young (the pilot and the current movies) but was later able to control them (the original series and the movies based on them).    Or, the writers just blew the continuity (as there is also no mention of Christopher Pike, the original commander of the Enterprise).  We fans of TBBT know how that works.  LOL.  BTW, there are two ways to see the original pilot "The Cage".  If you want to see almost all of the original pilot footage of ST:TOS, look for the two part episode, "The Menagerie".  What Roddenberry did was to use footage from the pilot as a flashback during the trial of Spock for commandeering the Enterprise.  Or, if you can find it, they actually ran the entire episode in 1988 and 1996 as part of a Star Trek retrospective.  It's also included in the Remastered Third season DVD release.   What's the name of the captain (commander?) who recruits Kirk in the bar? All the continuity issues can be filed under the fact that Nero changed history. Kirk's history was changed, Spock's history was changed, etc. That's why they could have all the characters meet the way they did, all in the Academy at the same time, and so forth.  I can't wait until this weekend to see the new ST movie!  I liked the original TBBT pilot for what it is, kind of like an ancient artifact. A lot of the dialog was kept in the 2nd pilot, though Sheldon is de-sexualized quite a bit (though in the 2nd pilot we still get the trip to the sperm bank and Leonard saying something about Sheldon being a semi-pro or whatever. I've noticed that whenever they air the pilot on TBS they cut the opening scene in the sperm bank and they also cut Sheldon's line when Penny asks what they do for fun and Sheldon says, "Today we tried masturbating for money".  I like what Jim said in that recent "Broadway" interview about how the original pilot has this dark, washed-out look. That's the first thing I noticed--that everything looks dark, the apartment looks kind of "dirty", like the walls don't come clean anymore, like in an old building. The first time I watched it I thought it was a bad print or something. I've never seen the aired one with the sperm bank in the beginning or that line. That's so interesting that they cut the intro scene and that line.   Re: 6.23...I think everyone has already provided great analysis. I don't have much more to add. Just that I loved it!!! I have now watched it again and again and again. It just gets better with each viewing! Here's to S7 and where the shamy goes from here!!!  ETA: OT If I'm in chat and suddenly leave, it's my internet/computer acting wonky. oy Edited May 13, 2013 by shamylove

rachelshamyfan
Oh I didn't see the extra dice, will watch again to see just seen the clip again and I see it now, there is a YouTube clip of just the bedroom scene but I can't share it from my phone but I can do it later from my PC though in the episode thread a couple pages back I put it on there on the day Edited May 13, 2013 by rachygd
koops
Much of that pilot made it into an actual episode. As a result, everything, from the pilot, that was in the episode, has become canon. Koops, I just realized I misread your post. Ignore this.  No worries! I actually thought your post made sense anyway, I know there is stuff about the unaired pilot that ended up being canon   It's funny Phanta mentions the darkness of the unaired pilot because that is one of the things that to me makes TBBT so iconic: the fact that it's so colorful and full of light. Something about the darkness of the unaired pilot really unsettles me for some reason. I don't know how to explain it. There's a warmth in the whole set up of the show that is lacking in that pilot.

As Jim says, it feels like an Alternate Universe version of these characters, with a darker, edgier feel. There's something about the Katie character there that leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, which is probably why it didn't work with the test audiences - 'our' version of TBBT has so much warmth, color and light added to it. But I can see how, if they went ahead with that storyline, it would have been a completely different show, with a more cynical flavor.  But I think that the female geek Gilda (apart from being 'split' into Howard and Raj ) also found a reflection later in Amy. And although Leonard is attracted to the Kate character, he's not smitten the way he is with Penny. And it's no wonder, because Kate really is a horrible person and not at all sympathetic. It's hard to care about what happens to her, not having a place to stay, etc. And when she does come back at the end, it's not because she likes the guys, but because she recognizes that she can freeload off of their generosity without having to even be respectful toward them.  I had wondered the other day which speeches Jim had worked on for his audition, but I was thinking about the dialog in the 2nd pilot. DOH! I realized last night that the audition material would have come from the original pilot. It's interesting that Sheldon's speech to Penny about his spot on the couch was in the original pilot a similar speech about their usual table at a restaurant--closer to the kitchen, in the crossbreeze, far enough away from the door in cold weather, in the waiter's line of sight, etc.  It is kind of fun to see how much of the dialog made it into the 2nd pilot and what aspects were changed. The only short clips which I have seen is from Youtube.  I found it online, and I have the link on my home computer, but not here at work. I remember I had to dig through a bunch of links or mentions of the original pilot before I finally got to the one that had the whole thing... If someone doesn't find it for you before tonight, I'll try to see if I can dig it up for you.

silverangel
 For us Shamies to enjoy   OH Rachel thank you for this. I just ... I'm in love with that scene.. I know that we talked about it but ...I just need to write this. I love how they look at each other, how his voice is become more and more gentle and sensual form that moment when they started to play. I love how he wants to cheer her up with that joke. I love how  he is so honest with her, he told her how he feels, and that he wants to be intimate with her, we can see that he really wants her, and he feels his desire,  he is just not ready but he is closer than ever. I love that he wants to finish that game and give her a intimate and sensual moments with that D&D, and I love that..."I eroticaly caress your...." and his sexy voice here (oh Jim baby...    ) I love how happy she is that he wants to finish that game, and during that game she is lttle shy, but overwhelmed by emotions and this sensual tension between them. I love that he wants it to, and that he is so dominant and caring at the same time, fragile and vulnerable when the right moment comes. I love Jim and Mayim in that scene they were just brilliant and so lovely. I love every warm  feeling this scene gave me... and I could watch it again and again... stardustmelody
I loved the whole episode and definitely this scene. But there are elements before the bedroom that I enjoyed. I loved how he looks at Howard all enthralled when Howard is describing Amy's half-orc character to him. I love how Sheldon turns to Amy with all his excitement and whenever he is reacting to anything. He was looking at her always with his reactions as if no one else were in the room. It was amazing to see that connection back.  I loved it.  So by the time the bedroom scene arrived, it was as if we already had been given some foreplay.

One place called Gentle Gourmet made the most incredible vegan cheese beignets, served on delicate slices of apple. Superlovelexi
I can't help but wonder what will happen in season seven with SHAMY. I know there will be more progression in their relationship hopefully both emotionally and physically, and there are like a million different fun things they can do or try.  For some reason i have this crazy idea in my head of how funny/adorable it would be if Sheldon accidently took some Viagra like pills.  Like if Bernadette's science lab is working on new medication for men struggling with sexual arousal or erectile dysfunction and she brings some home with her and then Sheldon gets a headache or something while over their place for dinner so he takes the wrong medicine or even worst as a prank Penny gives it to him like how she spikes his ice tea with alcohol sometimes.  Anyway, Sheldon starts acting all weird and horny but doesn't really get whats happening to him so he and guys get convinced he's finally going through Vulcan Pon far and now has the desperate need to mate.  Thats when Amy steps in and realizes along with Bernadette that Sheldon took the wrong medicine.  Amy then has a dilemma on her hands does she tell Sheldon the truth about what happened to him or does she just let it play out that way we get to watch Sheldon actually trying to seduce her lol you know in a SHELDONish type way of course. Perhaps we get a Sheldon style strip tease LOL. I think it make for some hilarious comedy. But this time I want Amy to tell Sheldon truth before anything physical happens between them. After she confesses to him Sheldon has to immediately be rushed to the hospital because the medicine he took is depriving his brain of too much blood causing him to pass out, all the blood has gone down to another part of his anatomy  Amy sits by Sheldon's hospital bed and holds his hand while doctors have to adminster something to counteract the bad meds he took and get him back to "normal" Once sheldon wakes up and realizes how crazy he behaved while on the pills even worst if he happened to go to work and accidently sexually harrass Mrs. Davis or Alex again because of the meds so now he's about to get fired for it.  But, Amy talks to Mrs. Davis for him and convinces her to let Sheldon keep his job after they leave the hospital. Sheldon is so happy that he gets to keep working he finally thanks Amy and gives her a small kiss on the cheek.  Not a full lip kiss we can save that one for later perhaps midseason finale or next Valentine's Day episode. In that SAG inerview Jim talked about this pilot, and about whole the differences, and that everything was darker and grayer there was no spark between them all. When they shot the second pilot, all was more brighter and colorful. And Kaley as Penny was more friendly towards and sweeter. And yeah I noticed that even if she is attracted to  Leonard there's no chemistry between them, and no sparks and that Kate is just is so coarse and vulgar... I'm so happy that we have our Los Robles  Pasadena colorful and perfect story not Michigan story.
