The Shamy Thread! (Season 6 Edition-Spoilers)

BTW, here's what Molaro said about his favorite moment:

STEVE MOLARO

"I can't pick one. Leonard and Penny saying, 'I love you'; Raj's speech in the comic book store about how they're all a community, if they have each other; Sheldon making Amy his emergency contact; Howard coming back from space. Every character has had these incredible moments this season. Raj standing in the hall convincing Lucy to go out with him because he swears he's messed up in the head. The end of the closet episode when they all tell Howard what might be in the letter and one of them is true."

I have to say I'm a little puzzled by his response. I understand him thinking of the Lenny saying ILY to each other scene first, cause that is significant. But while the Raj speech was sweet, the writers kind of ruined its sentiment by having Raj making that "losers" joke after meeting Lucy. In terms of Shamy, I thought the D&D scene was more touching and intense and significant compared to the emergency contact scene (though the latter was a sweet scene too.) And Howard coming back from space - that was a sad ep - I wish he had gotten a better welcome. I agree with his last two moments - especially the part about the end of closet reconfiguration. Perhaps, I'm nitpicking, lol.

Listening to Dido's White Flag while re-re-re-re-re-re-reading The Connubial Catalyst and singing "I WILL GO DOOOOOWN WITH THIS SHIP" at the top of my lungs.

I may have a problem.

I agree with you and from what most fans think, the D&D bedroom scene was clearly the top romantic and tender moment the show has had.   So I am not sure why he picked the EC contact over that, even though it was a sweet moment too.   Molaro is a strange one.  I can't figure his head out at all.  Prady and Lorre I get...but not him. :icon_rolleyes::icon_lol:

Well, I've been posting in the "Sheldon and Penny" thread in the Characters or Show folder (whichever)... :p

Yes, but did you tell them that their ship is so full of holes it sank faster than the Titanic? THAT is how you start a fight. LOL

You are a riot, Miso.  You are making me laugh.  :icon_lol:

It might be one of the rare times where I'm disappointed by Jim's take on Sheldon. To say that he took care of her just because of science or reason kind of cheapens the whole point of that episode, especially the scene where he turns around in the corridor and comes back to her. The way he describes that episode makes it really sound like Amy's just taking advantage of him, which I know it's something some people believe about that episode and I think it's totally unfounded given what we found out in 6x14. I also thought that with all the touching moments Shamy had this season they would pick something other than the spanking. I'm kind of fed up with that being brought up to be honest. I'm shocked Simon seemed to have a better response to this question than Majim.

Okay, every time I see "Dido" I misread it... :icon_eek:

It's because people open new threads without checking whether there is one already and then other people go and dig out threads from the 1800's and so you end up with lots of duplicates. My OCD is vehemently against resurrecting redundant threads.

I agree with you on that.  That disappointed me as well.  I felt Sheldon did it because he truly cares about her.   Not because he felt it was all for science and that she wanted him to do it sort of thing.  But it was Sheldon showing compassion for the woman he loves.  I suspect the reporter took it a bit out of context.  They often do.  I can't imagine Jim saying only that. I bet he had something in there about Sheldon wanting to do it because he cared about her.   I can't imagine he wouldn't have said that.

I also don't understand how Amy lassoed Sheldon into doing any of the things he did. She let him go back home and he came back. She told him to let her rest and he insisted he had to rub her chest. She asked for more rubbing and he upped the ante with the bath. She asked about not seeing the new ST movie and he suggested the spanking. He came up with all the ideas. While I don't think he had anything sexual in mind per se, I do think he did it because he wanted to take care of her and do the best he could at that. Not because it was "logical" or anything like that.

Miso, get over my knees. That's bad, bad, bad! LOL. No but seriously, those who ship Shenny don't bother me. By us picking fights with them, we are no different than those who judge us and piss us off all the time. That's just my take on it :)

I think I get what Jim is saying, though.

I don't think he was talking about the reason Sheldon turns around in the hallway as much as he's talking about the physical things that Sheldon is doing--that he's not putting Vaporub on her or bathing her or spanking her because of some kind of desire to cop a feel or an excuse to look at her body or get kinky.

I think this is something they must have discussed at the table read or in preparing the episode, even though they initially intended to do the scenes off-screen.

I think he's talking about how Sheldon would see it as "these are the things you do for someone who is sick" and not as, "I'll offer to help her bathe so I can get a look at her naked body!"

I think that his comments about Amy kind of roping Sheldon into it had to do with her milking it after she was already better, or her attitude toward the physical ministrations being different from his.

He saw it as helping a sick person, doing the things that he would expect to have done and not thinking at all about the potential sexuality of such things, while Amy clearly understood and enjoyed the ministrations in a sexualized way.

Even though she didn't say, "Come rub my chest", she was apparently enjoying it far more than he thought she would, just as she enjoyed the spanking even though he intended it to be a punishment.

What Jim was talking about is the different way Sheldon and Amy interpreted his actions.

Talking of the shennies its funny how they have opened 2 threads basically amounting to the same thing, do they think if they go on about it enough Tptb will comply with their wishes!? I think not!

True Fact: If you look up "Shenny" in the dictionary, it means "Delusional".

Yeah, I agree. At least, that's the way I read it. Of course, I could be "Shenny." (See earlier comment.)

OK. Now I just feel humbled and ashamed. Of course, it could be worse. I could feel like a Shenny. (He he. I know. I'm a stinker.)

I've been reading the Lenny thread because I really do like Leonard and Penny as a couple and I'm always pulling for them to be happy, but so much of that thread seems to be about bashing Sheldon and/or Amy for taking time or focus away from L&P.

Why can't we all get along (except for the Shennies...)?

I totally agree.  He initiated it all and she went along because hey...the girl deserves a break...he is the one that suggested it and gave it to her.   Why shouldn't she enjoy?

I agree with Phanta's remark that he views it as "these are the things you do for someone who is sick" as well, but I think it was very poorly worded in his quote.   I am not sure it was far to talk about "Amy roping it" as much as that she did milk it a bit by extending her "sick time" a few days longer than she really was sick.  That may be where he was coming from with that.  But it again was poorly worded.

That is almost laughable given they (Lenny) were probably given the most screen time of any couple this past season, but I agree, it would be nice if Lenny and Shamy fans got along.  I don't understand the competition.   I do think Lenny has a problem in that they can be very boring very quickly and I know many Lenny fans want them to get engaged right after Leonard returns.  I say be careful for what you wish for because if they think Lenny are relegated to back burner now, just wait if they marry too early.  Once couples marry, unless they have a lot of quirks (like Shamy do), they can easily get boring.

I don't know, there's just something about the way Jim's quote was worded that kind of makes the episode cheaper, at least the way I read it. It does make it sound like Sheldon was doing it out of purely clinical/scientific intent instead of wanting to care for her, the whole "he would do literally anything if it's for science and reason", rather than doing anything because he cares for her and she's special to him. And it gives a feeling of total disconnect between the two characters that's kind of depressing, rather than funny.

Re: Lenny, I don't understand why there's this feeling of rivalry and/or hatred on certain fans' part. Lenny is obviously the alpha couple but the show isn't just about them. Mind you, there are Shamys that also complain about episodes that have no Shamy focus, so I think both sides do it to a certain extent. To be fair I don't understand people who have hatred for any of the characters in general. Maybe I really live in a bubble of rainbows, but I like every character and while I obviously do watch the show for Amy, and Sheldon, I do appreciate it's still an ensemble show after all and that everyone needs to get their turn to be front and center.
