Oh, I'm sorry star, I was literally just about to come in. I think the problem was probably that the time was changed and some (including myself) didn't notice?

Re: Shamy. I'm not too bothered if there are more Lenny eps than Shamy eps or whatever. There are many characters on the show and many relationships, it's a given that there will always been some unbalance in every season depending on where the inspiration for the storylines are. Howardette had basically nothing after having 1 1/2 full years, and Amy was on the backburner after having 2 years of focus. So that's ok. It's the quality, rather than the quantity that matters. That's why I was so cranky during those 3-4 eps: I'm more than happy with having episodes where all the Shamy interaction we get is them having cursory eye-coitus, but if those few interactions we get are mean there'd better be a good reason or I won't be particularly satisfied as a viewer. So I agree with Cat that 6x23 came a bit out of the blue to me: consistent with 6x17 and prior but I thought they were going into a completely different direction after 6x18.

In any case, I don't think it was just Sheldon that was mean this season. I actually think the prize for meanest interaction this year was Penny on V-day. And there was more bitter conflict than usual overall I think. Bernadette yelling at Howard, Penny and Sheldon dismissing Leonard and Amy, Raj being a jerk to Amy, Howard stirring the pot in Tenure. I think the good moments were enhanced this year, but so were the bad moments. It was a sharper year overall.

The writers have been all over the place this season tbh, and not just for the Shamy. I'm still trying to figure out how Penny went from wanting to dump Leonard to saying "I love you" in the span of five episodes. I know the Halloween episode showed that she remembered he's smart, but if admiring someone's intelligence was all it took to fall in love, Leonard and Penny would have been married in Season 1.

I agree.  I think Penny was just as all over the place as Sheldon was this season.  She was terribly confusing as well and as Koops said was so mean during V-day I wanted to smack her.   Yet then she was so adorable as a fangirl of Shamy in 6.14.   It just was so unbalanced and the characters almost became bipolar in action.  They were so one way one moment and another way the next.  Sheldon was so mature during the Contractual Obligation, yet so immature in the Closet Configuration.  I think Molaro is great with coming up with good emotional story, but he still writes a lot of times for pre-teen audience instead of adult audience.  I know we do have some younger viewers, but there are plenty of 30-somethings watching that are beyond that kind of iCarly like show.

That is why I think we need Prady more involved again to help temper some of the actual execution of the emotional arc that Molaro is good with coming up with.   They need to bring back more of the staying in character aspects, better balance, better pacing and overall improve the tone of the dialog to be more in character.   Then they will truly have a show with quality.

OMG yes it is weird, it is like this was in Penny's apartment, decorated and furnished like Leonard and Sheldon's apartment. And that moment  when Raj talks to Penny, it is like this whole situation when they talked about that competition was so excited to him that he forgot about that he fears talking to women.

Im having such a fan fiction overload that as I was walking to work today I figured how th S7 will open. Amy will be in Sheldons apartment in her nightrobe making Sheldons breakfast and getting him ready for work. With Leonard gone, it just happens and its soo cute the we are all like of course that is how it would be!

This would be adorable and we would all squeal to high heaven if that happened.   LOL!   But oh what an adorable visual.

Since this thread has been really quiet, thought I would give it a boost.

Name five reasons why Shamy make sense.   Give five quirks, five commonalities, five moments they shared or whatever to help state your reasons for Shamy making sense.   I love this couple and I know all of you do too so this should be fun to see what makes everyone love them so much.

Shamy Lyrics of the Day:

Help, by The Beatles

Help, I need somebody!

Help, not just anybody

Help, you know I need someone

Help!

When I was younger, so much younger than today

I never needed anybody's help in any way

But now these days are gone and I'm not so self-assured

Now I find I've changed my mind

And opened up the doors

Help me if you can I'm feeling down

And I do appreciate you bein' 'round

Help me get my feet back on the ground

Won't you please, please help me?

And now my life has changed in oh, so many ways

My independence seems to vanish in the haze

But every now and then I feel so insecure

I know that I just need you like

I've never done before

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down

And I do appreciate you bein' 'round

Help me get my feet back on the ground

Won't you please, please help me?

When I was younger, so much younger than today

I never needed anybody's help in any way

But now these days are gone and I'm not so self-assured

Now I find I've changed my mind

And opened up the doors

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down

And I do appreciate you bein' 'round

Help me get my feet back on the ground

Won't you please, please help me?

Help me, Help me, ooh

:)

I always kind of loved it that they're the other's "one exception to the rule." Neither of them particularly like human contact or intimacy or relationships in general and yet they are pushing their own walls all the time (granted, Amy has come much farther than Sheldon, but she's willing to wait for him and I think that's lovely), and I don't think there's one other person on the earth that either of them would do that for.

I also love how innocent they are. They're two thirty year-olds who are both (presumably) virgins, and they've only ever really kissed each other. It's a huge shock when you consider that we live in today a world where nine and ten year olds are already having sex, and almost everyone is getting married or having children at a pretty young age, and it seems like no one really takes the time to get to know each other on an intellectual and mental level before delving into the physical components of a relationship. And I think the fact that Shamy has known each other for three years and has merely kissed closed-mouthed, held hands, and cuddled is a very special thing.

I know people dislike it when Sheldon is mean to Amy, but I see it more as a little boy being mean to a little girl because he likes her, but doesn't want anyone to know. I think it just makes it all the more realistic when Sheldon is mean to Amy, because that's how someone like him would treat a girl that he likes but doesn't want to like. I feel like he's having an internal struggle of loving her, but not wanting to admit it to himself, much less to Amy or anyone else.  I think it's MUCH more justifiable than Penny being mean to Leonard, or Bernie being mean to Howard. But that's just my opinion.

Also, in a group of friends where they are constantly "outcasted" by everyone else, they have each other, which is awesome. I mean, there's no question that within the three girls Amy is the odd one out. It just about killed me in that Christmas episode where Amy was telling Raj about going to a frat party and waking with more clothes on, and the camera shifts to Penny, and she's holding back laughter. I just felt for Amy so much in that episode. And Sheldon, though for good reason, is constantly alienated by the guys. I know they're both weird and can be irritating (especially Sheldon), and I don't fault the others for getting frustrated with them at all. That's just the way they are though, and there's never any malice there. It just makes me happy that they have each other. After 30+ of constantly being alienated by every person they know, they finally found another member of their "species."

And my favorite Shamy moment is, of course, the D&D role playing. It's such a huge step in their relationship without being unbelievable or OOC for Sheldon. It happened almost a month ago, but I still think about it and get goosebumps. It was just such a perfect scene, beautifully written and beautifully acted. The only thing wrong with it is that it was too short, lol. I truly felt like that scene was everything a sitcom should be: realistic, funny, but touching. And the huge gesture on Sheldon's part was monumental. At first, I thought it would have been perfect if he would have kissed her, but now we have that to look forward to next season (it BETTER happen next season!). Anyways, it was perfect. :]

Let me see...

Five reasons why Shamy make sense:

  • They were chosen by science.
  • They have the same level of intelligence
  • They are both the first and the best boyfriend/girlfriend of each other.
  • They make the other feel love.
  • They are played by Jim Parsons and Mayim Bialik.

Five quirks: I don't understand this.

Five commonalities:

  • They've never had a boyfriend/girlfriend before.
  • They thought coitus and physical contact should be off the table.
  • They have deals with their mothers.
  • They were laughed at in school.
  • They love cats.

Five moments they share:

  • They tried to make the Nobel-winner lose face.
  • They have lunch in Amy's lab.
  • They went to the zoo.
  • He bathed her.
  • They argued about Physics and Biology.

Was looking at some early season 6 episodes and does anybody else think that Sheldon with the way he had his hair styled to the side made him look a bit vulnerable?

Yeah I'm just watching 43 particulary... and yes this hairstyle gave his face something deeper, as if they  wanted to emphasize his emotions and vulnerability..
