The Shamy Thread! (Season 6 Edition-Spoilers)

I started to ship Shamy from The Herb Garden... It was obvious that there's strong chemistry between them, and I loved how they looked at each other when they planned that experiment.... "Look at you, getting me in the social sciences. You're a vixen Amy Farrah Fowler" Their gaze into each others eyes, eye coitus, and smile.... like teenagers in love... and how excited Sheldon was, after that conversation with Leonard....' You, dog you'...LOL  Sheldon:"I must say, Amy pretending to have intercourse with you is giving me a great deal of satisfaction." Amy: Slow down, Sheldon. I'm not quite there yet."....And that conversation in the kitchen before that moment when Howard proposed.  So many undertones...I just love them so much from that moment

Amy: Bernadette just asked about my sexual encounter with you. The meme has reached full penetration.
Sheldon: Pun intended?
Amy: No. Happy accident.
Sheldon: This is remarkable. Took less than 24 hours.
Amy: I should let you know that she asked for details about our dalliance.
Sheldon: Interesting. So it went beyond the mere fact of coitus to a blow by blow, as it were.
Amy: Pun intended?
Sheldon: I’m sorry. What pun?
Amy: Not important. I described your lovemaking as aloof, but effective.
Sheldon: I wish you hadn’t done that. That’s going to make me a chick magnet, and I’m so busy as it is.
Everytime I watch it, I think to myself...Hey Sheldon you know exactly what pun.... you just choose not to show that you understand many puns....and I just love how everything went from that ep. that they love each other.

Day 1: First moment I shipped Shamy.

Reason: He defended Amy to his mother, he stood up to his mother for her, showed how much their relationship meant to him, and compromised with Amy.

Like I said, favorite Shamy quote. It just sums up their whole relationship perfectly.

Yes koops, it shows the soul of their relationship.

Sheldon: "Amy. Before you, I was never interested in becoming intimate with anyone in my entire life.... wouldn't rule it out."

I love that quote..... it shows how their realtionship evolve, and how he tryies for her.

My holiday house has wi-fi! Woot woot!

And well since we're posting here:

Day One - The moment you started shipping them and why. - The Pulled Groin Extrapolation

This one needs some explanation, because this episode is rather late in the series. I discovered The Big Bang Theory in late 2012 and watched seasons one to five in less than a week, leaving me very little time to dwell on what I was seeing on screen. I found the Shamy cute before 05x03, but they didn’t give ~THE FEELS~ I need to be feeling to call myself a shipper, mainly because Sheldon didn’t seem to be that invested in the relationship. But when he karate-chopped Leonard, I found myself thinking “HOLY CRAP, I don’t know what’s going on in his brain but I think I’m loving it!" and by the time The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition happened, I was a full blown shipper. After I finished S5 and before I went on with watching S6, I re-watched all of S4&S5 and realised the Shamy had been perfect from day one. I still wonder why it took me a rewatch to realise that, but now they’re my OTP and I’m proud of it. There is no shame in shipping the Shamy.

Day Two - Favourite Episode - The Flaming Spittoon Acquisition

I just rewatched 5x03 today and I'm even more convinced something was brewing in Sheldon's head regarding the whole becoming official business. He didn't snap when Leonard said he had a good time with Amy and didn't have anything against the idea of them going to the wedding together but as soon as he inferred they had sex (and this is SHELDON extrapolating from a seemingly innocuous sentence) he snapped and hit him. And that whole "Not for you!" business... it's clear as day he had already called dibs in his head and not as a friend.

Yup koops, that's why I love this episode so much. It's the very first time Sheldon clearly steps up and shows he's serious about where is relationship with Amy is going.

In other news, the Lennies seem convinced that Amy's not going to be able to live with Sheldon this summer. I'm wondering if we were watching the same show these past seasons.

I don't go in the Lenny thread, so I'm not sure what's happening in there but I also know there are a couple of firm anti-Shamys in that contingent, so I'm not surprised and I frankly don't care what they think. I mind my own ship, who cares about what they think.

"What if you found someone who was a scientist and already familiar and comfortable with your ways?".

It makes no sense, but whatever.

Maybe they want Leonard to come out of it as the only amazing hero guy who can put up with Sheldon? So that if Amy does get along with Sheldon all summer it means Leonard is not "unique and special" anymore? Don't get me wrong, I love Leonard to pieces, and I think he is amazing, but I think Amy is capable of even more patience and understanding than Leonard, given that... you know, she's the one actually in a relationship with him and all? If she's planning to spend the rest of her life with him I doubt she'd be put off by one summer.

That is exactly what is being said.

What really pissed me off was that message, especially the bolded part:

I would absolutely love to see something like this! Leonard comes home early and to surprise everyone, alone. He opens the apartment door to find Penny, Sheldon, and Amy all screaming at one another. After four months, the girls find Sheldon beyond infuriating and Sheldon believes the girls are totally inept, he was unable to train them as well as he trained Leonard. The yelling pauses as they all realize Leonard is standing in the living room. We hear a high-pitched girlish scream of profound delight and it's Sheldon. He runs and throws himself into Leonard's arms, still squealing like girl, like Penny did when Leonard returned from the North Pole. The kiss, optional.

Ugh, like what? "Unable to train Amy"? Seriously? Freaking seriously?

And this one:

I also think that Amy will have a vastly improved appreciation for Leonard, after having to put up with Sheldon all Summer. And perhaps Sheldon as well after being with Amy all Summer.

LOL NO.

If you think that you just don't know the Shamy at all and really should refrain from commenting on them, imho.

(That being said the first scenario wouldn't even surprise me that much, given how Molaro doesn't understand the Shamy either. I don't get why the Lennies are so worried, the head writer worships their ship.)

To be fair, i think the first comment made wasn't really thought through by the person writing it, i think it was just a way of getting across Sheldon and the girls having some sort of argument, when Leonard walks through the door. Totally agree that the second one is a little crazy though haha Anyway it's safe to say we don't all feel that way!

I don't get why a lot of the peopple in that thread are so worried either. I've almost gotten to the point where i'm fed up trying to convince them that everything is going to be okay! haha

Meh, if something like that happened it would mean the writers have totally lost the plot about Shamy. I just think shippers trying to analyze other ships are pretty amusin

I agree, people should stick to what they know. ;)

And Amen to that... Lennie's should stick to Lenny and Howardette's should stick to them... I don't think we analyzing other ships too much....

What the frigging heck!? Just seen a new fan fiction put up and it starts off with Sheldon and Amy and her wanting coitus and ends up including Penny in a weird threesome! The Shennies are desperate to get their fix no matter!

I know its only fan fiction and not meant to be real but oh please, that's not even a scenario that would ever happen in the show

You guys do know that everyone can read what you're posting, right?  Including the Lenny's.

That's just what I was thinking, MW!

I don't follow the reasoning that just because you have one primary ship doesn't mean you can't have other secondary ships, and be able to comment on those ships. I am a declared Shamy shipper - does that mean I don't know what the hell I'm talking about when it comes to Leonard and Penny's relationship? I happen to follow THE SHOW; I think I can talk about any aspect of the show - ships or otherwise - without being pigeonholed as someone who only has the right to speak on the ship I follow. If I made a comment about something in Penny and Leonard's relationship, and someone told me I had no business to do so because I'm a Shamy shipper, and used that to belittle my argument, those would be fighting words - I'd be offended and I would argue passionately against that line of reasoning. I have a lot of friends who primarily ship Lenny, and when I think of them following the turn that this conversation has taken, I wince, because I imagine they'd feel the same as I would if this was happening to me.

I don't necessarily disagree with anyone's points here, but I think that Lennies and Shamies are two of the main canon ships of the show and usually get along. I have never had an issue discussing the show politely, even places where there's disagreement, with a Lenny shipper. If points were made in the Lenny shipping thread about Shamy that you disagree with, I don't see why one wouldn't keep the argument there on that turf. All that's been accomplished by moving the conversation here is that we're bashing another ship - one that we're usually friends with, by the way.

I don't think that was Lost's intention when she made her comments here, but that's the turn the conversation took, and it kinda blows my mind to see the negativity. I hope we Shamy shippers can turn that around.

I think it depends. Some people are more invested in certain aspects of the show than others, so obviously pay more attention to that. I wouldn't be offended if I made a comment about Lenny and were told I'm missing the point because I don't spend my days thinking and analyzing Lenny, so I'm sure I miss A LOT of points about them. If one is equally invested in analyzing all aspects of the show, then great, of course.

That's what I meant by finding it amusing when shippers comment on other ships. Because they often miss the point (or, in this case, a very obvious character-trait that is Amy's patience and willingness to put up with Sheldon's habits). I didn't mean my original comment to fuel an apparent bashing, or mean that there should be segregation of opinions and these opinions shouldn't be expressed.

For me, I would simply take the original argument and point out Amy's patience and willingness to put up with Sheldon's habits, and note evidence such as Amy's "his quirks just make you love him more! Someone please agree with me!" Meet an argument with an argument, but I wouldn't suggest that a person is "missing the point" because they don't ship something enough to know the difference.

Besides, if we disagree with something said about the Shamy by another ship, and dismiss their opinion by claiming that they are "missing the point," what do we call it when we disagree within the ship?

To be quite honest with you, I don't think that the post was unreasonable in the first place. I can totally see next season's opening episode having a whole plot line where Sheldon drives Amy up the frakking wall by trying to get her to wait on him, chauffeur him, feed him with take out, drive him to all of his appointments, go with him on all of his errands and do all of the things Leonard already does for him - just by repeatedly saying, "But Leonard did it! And he's only my friend and you're my girlfriend!" At first Amy does try to do all of these things to make Sheldon happy, but by the end of the episode Amy finally snaps and puts up some healthy boundaries, refusing to wait on him hand and foot anymore. And perhaps Sheldon or Amy both remark on appreciating Leonard more.  I could completely see this episode happening and being perfectly in canon.

And I dare anyone on this board to disagree with me by remarking that I'm not a Shamy shipper enough to know this could not possibly happen, or that I am "missing the point." Or perhaps I should "stick to my own ship."

Oh no, wait....I AM! This is my ship!
