Actually, the makeover idea was one of the things I was disappointed to hear coming out of Mayim's mouth (that and the "Maybe Amy doesn't have many other options" line), especially given her stance on things like that (and I love that Jim pretty much went "No"). I'm also still surprised it wasn't mentioned the Snow White thing was precisely that. I do not want Amy to get a one episode makeover at all, what would be the point? We've had it, Sheldon didn't react and people got annoyed he didn't. If he did react, it would send all sorts of wrong messages about Amy and about why Sheldon hasn't yet acted upon his feelings towards her. No, I think it's a lose-lose situation that should never be used. Get Amy some clothes her size, put her in a ST outfit where she is sexy but still looks like herself, but a makeover I feel strongly against.

I think Jim still gets Shamy way more than Mayim. And possibly more than anyone in the cast and crew.

I agree that I do not want to see the dreaded "makeover" episode, but I don't think Mayim meant it that way, but more of a one episode thing. She did say like the scene from "Grease" so I took it to mean as a dream in an episode or something like that.

Anyhow yes, I do not want a makeover episode, not a definitive one that is.

I do agree that Jim is the one who has a better grasp on the Shamy, maybe even more than all of us. He surely knows his character and he is very invested on the Shamy as well. He always has just the right words and observations about them.

Okay. I think we've had this discussion before. I wouldn't want a makeover like in grease, but something more sophisticated might be interesting. It's hard to tell if mayim was kidding but you're right, Jim definitely didn't like it.

I think she was mostly kind of joking--like what would be the extreme version of the Shamy--Amy suddenly becoming some wild girl, etc.  In Grease, wasn't ON-J's character  mostly a goodie-two-shoes who only transforms into the leather-clad hottie at the very end?  (It's been about a million years since I've seen the movie...)

I also think that Mayim was talking about the unique attraction that Amy has toward Sheldon, and maybe the comment about her not having a lot of choices might seem a little mean, but in some ways it's true.

If Sheldon doesn't have a lot of women who would put up with his quirks and also find his "sallow complexion" and his "sexy praying mantis" appearance attractive, Amy doesn't really have a lot of men who would find her personality and physical appearance all that attractive either.  Sheldon likes her dandruff and her pale hunched shoulders, Amy likes his sexy praying mantis looks and finds his quirks cute as a button.

And it's not that it makes them losers, it's that there's a "lock for every key", as Mary Cooper would put it.  The fact that they are attracted to the very things that others might find "off-putting" is no different, in a way, than the way that Howard and Bernie feel about each other.  Who else but Bernie would have accepted Howard as he was/is?  And while Bernie may be more socially acceptable as a "catch", she also has her own quirks that might make it hard for her to get along with other guys--she obviously hadn't found "Mr. Right" before Howard, of all people, came along.

She was actually drawn to his sexy banter and his tight hootchie pants, apparently. :p

Yep, I'm almost certain Mayim was kidding (especially given the fact she wouldn't actually wear those clothes irl). She was playing on the fact that Jim said the writers had done things in the past that had surprised him, so she just went for this crazy scenario :D. If she had meant it then yeah, it would've been a bit weird coming from her, lol.

My point about the Grease comment was that even if it was suggested as a one episode thing, we had that already with Snow White. That was essentially Amy "blossoming out" her ugly-duckling appearance. That was the makeover episode, IMO. And I thought it was done very well, because it showed that yes, Amy is very pretty, but that that's not what's going to turn Sheldon into a horndog because he likes her for reasons other than her appearance. I don't think the whole one-episode Grease scenario is any different from this. It seems like the Snow White episode just flies under the radar in that respect. It's odd.

I think that Mayim was also joking about the Grease makeover as well. She was playing off of Jim's remark about the show surprising him, and she was also playing to her own personal joy, as an actress, of dressing up in costume and vamping around and having fun. That's kinda her definition of fun, it's what she does for her career, and you could see her little way of half dancing in her chair that she was just embracing the whole idea of playing with the idea of dressing up as someone else and having some merriment. I don't think it meant anything beyond that.

And in any case she did say "like in a Fantasy" meaning a dream episode/AU, etc. Blossom had many of those, she had one where she was some-sort-of-Madonna (the one where Neil Patrick Harris played her superstar actor boyfriend), the one where she was a singer to entertain troops during WWII (Ruby), the one where the whole family was filled with alcoholic punks except for her brother who was the straight one, etc.
So I think she meant it that way and not as definitive for the Amy character.

I think I have a new quote from that interview, like I was saying on the other thread.

"Does he know romance? Yes. He knows what'll get her."

I adore how sweet Jim sounded when he said that.

I thought he says "He knows what'll get her"? Which is different from "He know what he'll get her", in terms of why I found that sentence cute. The former, to me, is like... he gets her. He might not be romantic in the conventional sense of the word but because she's not a conventional girl either he can swoon her with his own brand of romance because he gets her.

It's clear he said "He know what'll get her" instead of "he knows what he'll get her".

Wow! This forum  thread is so entertaining! I love reading how excited everyone was after Love Spell. That was before my fan forum days, so I didn't get to see or hear any other fans opinions on it. Reading some of this almost makes me want to go over to Season 7 shamy spoiler thread......almost....... :)

Okay I've been away awhile had a lot of Family stuff going on but now I'm back, and I know tonight's episode is going to have Lots of SHAMY so I'm Super excited. :D  But, I would like to just comment a bit on last week's episode.  I'm sure its been discussed a lot by now and I'm sorry I'm on break so I don't have enough time to look through all pages of comments, so I'm just going to leave my own thoughts about Sheldon's Raiders Revenge.

I thought Amy handled it impecabbly and very maturely.  We've seen Sheldon time and time again when he's mad at his friends, enemies or love ones lash out with some silly revenge scheme! So I love that Amy told him right away "Hey we're not going to do things that way. If you're mad at me just tell me."  I gave her a loud hand clap in front of my TV lol.  I was likely finally someone is teaching him that there are better more mature ways to deal with anger then just taking revenge on them.  Then I appreciated that Sheldon actually accepted that and told her what was bothering him instead.  I wish they had left out the final Garfield comment, but the writers just can't resist throwing in one last jab joke. :p   I also like that even though it was for less than nice reasons, Sheldon was one to come up with the idea for an unscheduled impromptu date night.  That is HUGE! Because it means he's finally willing to move his schedule around for Amy, normally the schedule has to be the same because he hates change, but Amy ruining Raiders for him gave him enough motivation to go outside of his scheduled box.  I think its because he actually LOVES to spend time with her now and instead of freezing her out of apartment like he use to do to his friends when they pissed him off he invited her over.  Its like even though he was mad at her and wanted to get back at her, he still wanted to be WITH her, not just freeze her out of his life or make her do detention or spank her like before.  He found a way to make a date out of it.  LOL that is the cutest thing.

I must admit I enjoyed first two episodes of the season, but was a little bummed with the lack of SHAMY and so much SHENNY,  I was little worried writers might start backtracking on their relationship a bit, because of all talk about wanting it to move at such a "glacial pace"  I was like great now its just going to be the STALLING period on SHAMY, but I get why the writers are choosing to go that route, so that when even little small developments happen in their relationship they mean just as much if not more than big moments.  But I still sticking to idea that I WANT A KISS DAMN IT!!  If SHAMY goes the entire season with no kissing at all, I'm going to be more than just little bummed, I'm going be PISSED!  cause its one thing to move a relationship slowly, its another thing to ignore Amy's desires completely for another season just to drag things out.  Amy still very much wants physical affection from Sheldon things like her comments "LIKE YOU KNOW WHAT KISSING SOUNDS LIKE!" and "When you told me I'd be losing my virginity for first time, I didn't think you meant showing me Raiders of the Lost Ark."  Its comments like that they make me feel so bad for her.  I know she is trying to be patient and God Bless her she is doing a fantastic job at it.  But Sheldon has to be willing to make some compromises for her too otherwise this relationship is going nowhere and they might as well just be BFFs cause without the romance and physical part present its not really a romantic/sexual coupling its just two people who are best friends hanging out all the time and enjoying each other's company THAT IS NOT THE SAME THING!!  Sheldon asked Amy to be his girlfriend not just his Girl/Friend and I know he's not comfortable with the physical stuff yet...but so what Amy is not comfortable with having to put up with all his quirks either none of the gang are, but they still DO IT because they love him, so he should do the same. :give_rose:    I'm  mean I'm not even talking about sex, i'm just saying one or two kisses a year is not going to freaking kill him! :girldevil: So I hope that the writers either pick up the pace a little with the physical stuff or stopping having Amy seem so frustrated about it cause watching her suffer so much sexual frustration is becoming more and more depressing not funny like it use to be.  Also, it makes it look like only Sheldon's needs matter in the relationship and not hers.  This issue needs to be addressed at some point this season or I may have to stop shipping them which makes me so sad cause I don't want to do that they are my favorites.
