The Shamy Thread! (Season 6 Edition-Spoilers)

After reading the report I really love this episode. The way the Shamy is developing is just awesome and it makes my heart melt. The last scene with the multiple "emergency calls" made me LOL.

BUT: after all this vapor-rubbing, bathing, spanking, hugging, knee patting etc. they will probably end up dry-humping before a kiss takes place!!!!!

apparently my lil tidbits pissed of a few people and now they are living on cloud 9.  Go figure.   :p

I was actually happy even after your tidbits, I'm just happier now. :)

I know that the writers have said that with the Shamy that they often discuss what most couples would do, and then kind of look at it in the

light of how different Sheldon and Amy are, and how they would not do something the same way as other couples.

Apparently, they're really following this rule! :D

I'm glad that they each found something to offer the other that truly touched the other.  Amy's willingness to let Sheldon off the

conventional date/gift hook (hey, she's already got a tiara!) and spend the evening doing something he likes; Sheldon offering her the

specialness and trust of making her his emergency contact, even if they might not agree as to what constitues and emergency...

And I can't even express how much I appreciate them for following it.

I know, right? The exchange of symbolic gifts between them was such a delightful idea of push-and-pull.. Amy cut Sheldon some slack for his social akwardness and geeky activities, releasing him from a pressure he feels, and in return, he did something for her that only pulled her closer. Perfection. I can't wait to see Sheldon's expressions of joy and relief and affection, when he sees what she's ready to do for him. I'm expecting Jim to act the heck out of that moment.

Lol, that last tag and Amy's comment about 'a brain tumor can explain it' made me laugh so hard. That was totally the diagnostic neurobiologist in action. :D

It is only the natural progression.  :icon_lol:

Seriously, only SHAMY would get me excited about KNEE-PATTING!

Awwww, you're so sweet :-). I love you too! Yeah, you know? Honestly, when I left the studio last night, I was a little bummed out since I was so hoping for a romantic kiss or SOMETHING but once I started typing out the entire story and allowing it all to sink in as I did so, I LOVE IT...I am just so completely in LOVE with this unique couple. It's so fun to watch. They're perfect for each other....so romantic.

The Shamy gifts were as close to complete brilliance as this writing staff has come. I wonder how much time and effort they put in to come up with such character appropriate responses?

After having some time to reflect, I have a few thoughts.  Forgive me for where I'm repeating myself.

  • I would love to see Leonard's reaction to Sheldon's gift to Amy.  I assume Leonard is now off the hook as emergency contact, so it's kind of like a gift to him too.  :)
  • The line "No, you got me nothing so I want to give you this" is brilliant!
  • The gifts exchanged show much deeper feelings than a kiss could have.  They each found something that proved how much they care about (love?) their partner.  They showed that they respect and want to meet the other's emotional needs.
  • I love that this episode seemed to resolve any leftover fight in the previous one.  Amy and Leonard showed that they were willing to back off a bit, while Sheldon and Penny stepped up to give some affection and reassurance that their partners craved.
  • Am anxious to see the hug.  I hope Sheldon didn't act like he really minded.  He protested a little but the leg pat seems like he reciprocated, though it's hard to know til you see it.  At this point I think he has to protest a little because he's not ready to admit to himself that he enjoys it.  It's the same as a 12-year old kid who deep down still wants his parents to hug him but protests because he's trying to be too cool and grown-up for that.
  • This relationship is the cutest darn thing I've ever seen.  It's great because such subtleties that would be no big deal to other couples are incredibly touching with them.  They're truly original.

Love all of this.

Re: the hug, it sounds just like the one in 6x14. He protests but then he doesn't want her to stop. He's way too proud to admit he likes being cuddled. But that will come with time.

Re: the emergency contact. I don't know who would have been his emergency contact on his employee form. The only time Leonard was called was the ballpit scene, that was the police, he wasn't at work. I don't think that had anything to do with Leonard being his emergency contact, unless he was his EC on his phone.

Oh, and need I remind you all... -1 week!

eta: Random thought of the morning. Given all this speculation about L/P wedding going on, I just had a thought that when they get married Amy will probably be the maid of honor again and Sheldon will be the best man. So much cuteness.

Thanks. I'm guessing that's something good, but care to explain? :p

Krys - you're great. :) Don't forget you're the one who made this taping report possible!

tmp - your whole post made me melt again, especially this.

I just know that knee-pat is going to kill us. And in all the world, that's possible only for the Shamy.

I wish there was a love button for this one -- couldn't have said it better.

We have so much shamy goodness to look forward to!!

Just a week until everyone finally gets to hear Sheldon's admittance for themselves ;)

God, all these spoilers are killing me. I keep editing posts in other threads because I realize I'm spoiling people. I just almost managed to spoil both Penny's future proposal and L/P and S/A living together in the same post. lol. I can't wait for these eps to come out.

I actually wonder whether the second halves of the seasons are generally better because since they know there's weeks with nothing in between they try to pack up the episodes as much as they can. I don't hold a lot of hope for the last sweeps ep after these three, but who knows? We might be blown away again. Nobody thought much of 6x15 and look what happened.
