Gablehauser To Siebert

Did the actor who played Gablehauser (Mark Harelik) leave the show for a particular reason, so they replaced him with Siebert?

Gable last appeared in the episode where Raj was in People magazine.  They didn't explain in the show that he was leaving.

Siebert is actually president of the school whereas Gable was head of the physics department.  But Siebert plays the same function.

Not really sure. He was only in 4 episodes in Season 1-2. I had a look at his IMDb and he did a film in 2009 and seems to have been in loads of TV shows since. Maybe he was commited elsewhere like Sara Gilbert, who played Leslie. They don't often explain departures of incidental characters.

Yeah, I haven't really noticed, since they've used them only rarely.

And speaking of Gablehauser, I loved the first season ep Luminous Fish where Sheldon asked his mom, "Is Dr. Gablehauser going to be my new daddy?"

I like Siebert because Joshua Malina is my guy.  I stalk him on twitter, fb, linkdin, wherever and he's part of my network.  Oh and he was on my all time favorite show The West Wing.

But Gablehauser holds a different position than Seibert. Or I don't know. It depends on what plans the writer have. Though I ship Eric with Mary.

The guy whos plays Gablehauser was in The Normal Heart with Jim during the summer of 2011

So maybe he's doing other plays right now
