Least Favorite Moments

I was reading and enjoying the favorite moments thread when I realized I have enjoyed the show so much over the years it would be easier to recall least favorite moments.

Penny hurting Howard's feelings was a drag to me.  I FF past those moments when I rewatch that episode.

The gang humiliating Sheldon by fixing the Antarctic test results and not confessing to it in time.  I thought that was out of character for them.

I never liked Wil Wheaton on TNG and I don't care for him on BBT. I don't even believe him when he is mostly playing himself, that is how bad of an actor I think he is.  Luckily the cast makes up for him by being hilarious around him.

I thought most of the writing around Howard and the robotic arm was lazy.  Even the embarrassing hospital scene was predictable.  It had some funny moments but they called that one in.

Penny and Leonard's mom on the stairs was terribly forced and unfunny.

The Raj and Penny almost hook-up was weird and unncessary.

I'd have to go back and think about it but I don't like it when any character I have come to like goes full pathetic.  Some of those Howard in space scenes were over-the-top for me.

I have to say, you pretty much nailed most of the stuff I wasn't too keen on. The show has so many high points but there are a few things that I choose to ignore.

I'm pretty sure that my pet hate is really loved by someone, so I apologise in advance.

The ball pit. - ugh! so juvenile.

I dunno...I thought the ball pit was funny enough.  But I'm more intrigued to just hear how Johnny and Jim felt about filming it.  The thought of slogging around in one of those pits makes me a little claustrophobic--and all those plastic balls would make your hair all static-y.

But I still think it's funny.

I saw the title of this thread and I really can't think of anything right now...I mean, sometimes if I've seen an episode a bazillion times I might fast-forward through some scenes simply because I'm eager to get to something else, like a Sheldon scene or something.

One part I thought was funny enough on first viewing but which I don't care about very much now is when Howard does the magic show for his cousin's birthday.  It was funny enough, but it drags for me a bit now, so I usually FF through it.

And maybe Raj's dates with the deaf girl.  I liked the story idea well enough, but those scenes seemed to drag for me.

But I don't think there's anything I've seen that I hate...not that I can recall, anyway.

Totally agree on the Antarctic data falsification and Raj/Penny!

I'd have to give some more thought about what else I disliked... I would say pretty much any scene with Pryia, but I know she had a purpose to serve...

Easily Penny and Raj having sex is the worst thing that happened to this show.

For me this was the shark jumping moment and it has cast a shadow over the whole show. I don't watch the show as much any more.

I hate the speckerman ep. How the bully know where they lived? So the bully drove drunk to Leonard and Sheldon's apt?

Even the girls scenes wasnt my fave

That ep sucked the big one to me

Yes I agree, the 4x24/5x1-(the snowflake crater event) was the worst thing has happened so far.

it made me question the original l\p ship and it still stains penny.

I could take or leave the ball pit. It had a couple of funny moments but it was juvenile.

Agree on the magic show and Raj's date with the deaf girl.

I did not dislike Priya as much but the overall storyline there was some of the weakest writing in the show.  It was predictable, too convenient, and too obvious.  Penny is so stupid we use a comedy bit that was old in the seventies and try and make her jealous?  Really?  With that said, her handling of the roomates agreement was hilarious.

The bully episode barely resonates with me.  I guess I need to watch it again.

I thought of another least favorite moment... Sheldon eating two dinners.  I know the premise of the show is super intelligent people doing dumb things at times but this was too stupid to accept.  That fate was too easy to escape.  It was funny when Andy Griffith did it, BBT, not so much.

Guest I'm not dead Cheryl

The Ball pit scene. Extremely annoying. They did it too long, tooooo dammmmn long!

Cruciferous Vegetable... the whole episode.

Penny breaking up with Leonard. It didn't make any sense.

Aaaand not one of the least favorites but definitely, to me, is not as good as everyone makes it to be, and I  might get crucified for this, but IMO the Nimoy napkin scene.. meh

I think the Nimoy napkin scene may not hit well with some people because the episode itself was tedious.  I re-watched it a few months ago and at the end it felt like I had to wait 21 minutes to get to one really funny scene.  Most of the time when Sheldon is being a PITA it is truly funny.  This time it was a drag and forced to an extreme that seemed unbelievable.

- The ending of Agreement dissection (the meanest thing done by Sheldon..this was very very bad....I absolutely hated it)

- Raj/Penny hook-up

- Leonard/Penny season 3 final moments (story was entirely wrong)

- Leonard agreeing to go with another date with a horrible girl just for sex...

- Sheldon in Bus pants utilization

- Penny thinking of breaking-up with Leonard again in season 6 episode 2 ( lame episode in which actually nothing happened but just made Penny unlikable..I don't know why the writers went his way)

- Sheldon/Amy/Wheaton plot in Habitation configuration ( again bad storyline) and

- Amy's girl-crush over Penny

Since season four get dumped on for its many cringe worthy moments, I'll add the season opener, " The Robotic Manipulation". Not the silly robot hand clutching Howard's junk (though that was pretty stupid) but the trashing of Penny's character by Sheldon and Amy at the restaurant during their first date. The tabulation of the number of her  sex partners, to Amy's asking her if she was a slut was there for the sole purpose of character assassination. This started the season long assault on Penny "the drunken whore" that culminated in the ultimate travesty, the "almost" sex with Raj.  Here it is season six and they are still trying to repair the damage.

I wasn't sure how this thread would be received but apparently I am not the only one who has a problem with parts of the show.

It also seems I am not the only one who has a problem with the direction they have taken Penny's character.  It is almost like the writers think we are so dumb that because she is pretty they can do whatever they want to her and we will still buy that she is a 'catch' for Leonard.  Right now, Penny is not the kind of girl you introduce to your parents.

i know its been mentioned but i agree 100% whole heartedly in the hating of the Raj/Penny almost sex scene.  It was dreadfully unfunny, made me personally dislike Raj as a character, question the L/P ship, and it was overall just unnecessary.

Also one thing that was kind of assumed but never shown that i didnt like was that we never saw a reaction to breakup with Priya.  We never got any real confirmation it was over and definitely never saw the reaction from other characters.

I generally skip through most of "The Dead Hooker" episode. Also, any scene from season 5 that shows Raj in close proximity of a bottle of beer just so he can speak annoys the beejeebus outta me.

lol.  We have gone from him needing to be drunk to talk to girls to any ole sip of beer will do.  It was funny and endearing for a long time but I think that particular quirk is just dead weight now.

We may be heading for one of those extraordinarily corny scenes where he meets the girl of his dreams and it is so magical it cures him forever.  I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Me too. The show doesn't often veer towards the saccharine so I am hoping that doesn't happen. Raj has a serious psychological issue and a magic recovery would just be a slap in the face to people with similar problems. I kind of hope that he never gets completely over it, but learns to deal with it in a realistic way that does allow him to find someone to love. Drinking isn't going to cut it.

I'm wondering how the real life guy his character was based on for over his issue. Bill Prady said that the guy he knew eventually got married and, IIRC, had kids, too. So something worked for that guy... :)

Unless he finds a girl who cannot talk to guys. :p

eta: Regarding the whole Raj/Penny thing, I'm not sure who it made look worse. If Penny had gotten drunk and slept with some random guy I don't think we would be here talking about character assassination, that's why I'm pissed that they decided to do it with Raj. And the fact that they kind of justified it in the end like "Oh well, they didn't go through with it because Raj finished too soon" it's ridiculous: like that makes a difference?? The intent was there, it's not like they stopped because they realized it was a mistake. It's just so wrong on so many levels, cheap, and on top of everything I CANNOT stand shows where everyone does the rounds with everyone else. UGH. Worst moment of the show for me.

...and to this day Leonard has never acknowledged that Penny is his "mate" to his mother, even after Penny told her.

The ending of 3.11 - "The Maternal Congruence" where Leonard's mother pretty much dismisses Penny with this to Leonard, "She doesn’t have much in the way of career prospects, don’t make her responsible for her own orgasms as well." was pretty horrendous since Penny was there as well. She all but equated Penny with being a valued sex toy.
