Superlovelexi Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 (edited) I just noticed him wearing it again! Why does he wear that same silver bracelet? I noticed it before when he was in bed getting ready to watch Bridget Jones Diary and then he was wearing it again tonight with his Star Trek costume. I know i can't be only one whose seen it? But does it have some sort of significance? I mean I know Raj is metrosexual, so I can understand him wearing a bracelet but I just wondered if it means anything else that I'm not getting? Does it have to do with his Indian culture or is it something to do with Star Trek or some other fandom the guys like? Has he worn it in other episodes too right? ...damn it now I'm going to want comb through my DVDs and try to spot him wearing it more.....this will take forever lol Please HELP!! phantagrae Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 I think he wears it all the time--it might even be Kunal's. I think it's significant for him as an Indian, as I think I've seen Indian males wearing such bracelets. But I don't want to say anything culturally stupid... netmouse Posted January 11, 2013 Posted January 11, 2013 He's worn it in a number of episodes now. He was also wearing it during part of his stand up routine with Simon Helberg at the Montreal Comedy Festival ??2011 iirc. I'm thinking maybe it belongs to Kunal. Superlovelexi Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 Oh okay I was wondering. So it most be important to Kunal then not just something he wears to play Raj. Maybe someone could to ask him about it at next Comic Con or something. Thanks for the info guys.
netmouse Posted January 12, 2013 Posted January 12, 2013 off topic trivia time: the actor who played the radio operator in Hogans Heroes (sry haven't got his name for you) refused to remove his wedding ring during filming. As a result, you will rarely (if ever) see a close-up shot of his left hand during the series.
scifi_boy2002 Posted January 21, 2013 Posted January 21, 2013 Perhaps it is something personal to him such as belonging to a family member. I know ALan Hale, Jr. of Gilligan's Island wore a ring in every episode and I think everything else he played in. It belonged to his father. So, the braclet may not be something for the charactor, but for Kunal personally himself.

purplechopstickmonster Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 He is punjabI and many different people in the region wear them not just sikhs. the sikhs I know who have them get them when they are children and their hand grows larger so they cannot slip it over their adult hand and cannot take it off. I think this maybe why he always has it on, in every episode if u notice. I was thinking it must be difficult to learn to write like that if u are right handed. I know how bangle bracelets get in the way and I get tired of them after a day. I think maybe that might be the point of it, to learn sacrifice and it's like th original wwjd braclet
purplechopstickmonster Posted January 7, 2016 Posted January 7, 2016 Lol, the moderator, I want to to comb through my dvds to see him wearing it. I hope you got the answer before today. I think I was correct in my assertion that he cannot take it off unless he either cuts it off or saws his hand off.
nibbler747 Posted January 8, 2016 Posted January 8, 2016 My guess is that it is a Kara also. Many men wear ones that can be taken off though. He might just choose to wear it because it is important to him. I don't find it to difficult to write with one bangle on. Many bangles - yes! = )
Xallix Posted October 8, 2017 Posted October 8, 2017 A Kara is worn by people from the Punjab region of India. You do not continue wearing the same Kara as you did when you were a baby ( that would not be possible). You can take it off, you just change it for a new one as you grow.
