When the character was first introduced, she was still in school working toward her Ph.D. in microbiology.  When she finished (4.24 "The Roommate Transmogrification") she got a job working for a big pharmaceutical company and hasn't worked at the Cheesecake Factory since then.

I didnt like any of that scene, the way she dragged him away and told him he was being very rude was like a mother telling a child off, thats partly why i dont particularly like them as a couple, if they are going to make howard have a gf/wife at least let it be somebody completly different to his mother!!!

Hmm, well, we can see that the idea is in reallity that Bernadette is his "new mother". They showed us even in their wedding, remember? When Howard shouted to his mother that "from today only she can shout me" and when he was having confusion telling "mom" to Bernadette...I think the idea is to show that Howard is that type of man who has that strange link with his mother and see his wife as a suplantation of her...

And yes, I liked more the single Howard. He was so funny! The best actor/character after Jim/Sheldon.

You are completely correct with this theory. The role of Howard's Mother is being replaced with, or at least shared by Bernadette. In that sense, the two characters are extremely redundant. The bigger problem (as you have also pointed out) is that in transferring the relationship from Mother to Wife, the character of Howard Wolowitz has been ruined. Overall, it seems the general trajectory of TBBT is that of taking four unique & funny characters and turning them into four plain (albeit nerdy) guys. If they were going to do this to Howard, they could have at least made his Wife a likable character. Bernadette is beyond annoying.

I, for one, like her.  If I could hang out with any character on the show, it would probably be her.

 

I don't see her as Howard's replacement mother, though she does an awesome impersonation of her.  The only times she acts like his mother is when she's forced because of Howard's comedic immaturity.

Oh Hell no. For one, TBBT already resembles Friends far too much. Secondly, I don't like Friends, nor do I understand people's attraction to Jennifer Aniston. Third, I (highly) prefer all of the guys not being in long-term relationships. It's far more interesting to see changing, short-term relationships (like Dr. Stephanie) than what's going on now. Wolowitz has been neutered & Sheldon is slowly turning into a typical sit-com character. Leonard was always meant to get with Penny, and I can deal with that, but everything has fallen apart outside of that basic story-line. To sum up, I'd rather see Howard home with his Mother (one of the show's better characters), still trying all of his wacky pick-up techniques on every girl he sees. Howard was a much better character back then, and TBBT was a much better show.

I love married man Howard! Now that he gets sex all the time, he can focus on other things.

 

Bernadette treats everyone like a child. She is the team mom and yet she hates children. My favorite scene was when she went demonic at the chlidren's party.

 

I also find her reluctance to bear children refreshing because it makes so much sense. She raised her siblings, she finally has the job she's been training for and she is tiny! A 9lb baby would represent almost a tenth of her body weight.

why is everybody hating on bernie??, I think she was a great addition to the show!! her scenes with amy and penny are great, I love their chemistry together,she has a dark side to her which is mysterious to complement her goody goodyness. Her high pitched voice may get annoying,but its a unique characteristic of the character, I'm glad they showed her parents, her dad especially to go deep into the character's background, how she grew up. If she were gone, I definitely would miss her.

Because she's annoying, not funny and has been the primary device that has destroyed one of the show's better characters (Howard Wolowitz). Enter Bernadette... Enter Friends 2.0.

If someone has destroyed the show it would be Amy. She is the most annoying, not funny at all.I would say she is destroying Sheldon

As for Bernadette, like I was saying yesterday on the Shamy thread, she's an okay girl but I'm still not sure what the writers intend her to be. So far she's only really been Howard's wife and hasn't had much character development on her own. I don't think we've ever had a Bernadette-centric episode for example. That's sad, because I really want to love her like I love the others, but so far, I'm just "meh" concerning Bernie.

Well this thread isn't about Amy, coming to bernadette I like her, they need to go deep into her character to unfold her mysterious side. Physically, she is perfect for howard, both of them complement each other well.

I don't think they/we are like that.  Some people try to lump us all in together as a crazy rabid bunch of fans who care only about one aspect of the show, but that's not the way it is.  Most of us are normal people who happen to be drawn to that relationship.  Most are tolerant of different viewpoints, even when we express disagreement.

I think Amy is not more a background character...since a time ago! Bernadette still is, but she is making Howard to become a "background character" too

This is absolutely true.  L/P was set up to be a huge element of the show from about 30 seconds into the pilot.  I also have always enjoyed watching the Leonard/Sheldon relationship.  It's a very close friendship but you have to look past the fact that they seem to annoy one another all the time.

I'am very surprised to read of your undemocratic output an seemingly I find it not only your post arrogant and disrespectful for other people's opinion (let's not forget that I am Amy and Sheldon supporter and never been a Shenny!) The whole thing is devolving into a sort hooliganism for that reason I keep well away from that thread from now on I swear.

I am sorry for offending you. This person had posted just before in Mayim's thread that we all were insane for finding her attractive and it made me quite angry at them. I didn't mean to insult anyone - I just have an angry strike for people who think they can diagnose an entire population based on things as irrelevant as looks.
