Amy Farrah Fowler

Recommended Posts

I just watched the Infestation Hypothesis (the garbage chair one) and I love the way she talked to SHeldon when he came over to ask her to get Penny to get rid of the chair.  She teased him about his OCD knocking, she teased him about his germaphobia, she tried to get him to listen to her play the harp, she asked him to kiss her where she'd never been kissed before--and I LOVED Sheldon's clueless "Salt Lace City?" response!!!

She was mildly flirty with the kiss thing, but otherwise she was able to tease and mock Sheldon without him getting upset or anything.  It was such comfortable interaction, but still with a touch of her being attracted to him.

That's another one of my favorite Amy scenes! I just laugh from the moment she starts playing Girl from Ipanema until the very end non-stop. That actually has to be one of my favorite scenes from the show overall.

"Cholera is water-borne, you're mocking me"

"Yes I am"

And when she's about to start playing Different Strokes and he goes "No".

hahaha

And the harp glissando, and Sheldon saying, "I'm sorry, Mommy, don't be mad at me!--Don't do that!" :D

Vasu in another thread just reminded me of the glory days of just-out-of-the-shell!Amy during the Priya era. "Because I do that now."  Loved every time she used to say that.

Is that official merchandise? Boy if it is, haha I wonder how Sheldon will take that extra IQ point.

Interesting. I'm curious to see if they're official or not. I don't know that I'd take unofficial merchandise as accurate, since we have never heard anything about her IQ on the show besides the fact that Sheldon considers her to be an intellectually superior being like himself. But if it is official merchandise, it'd be an awesome twist if she turns out to have a higher IQ than him, lol.

Yes, but he considers her field subordinate to his--and it's all about squishy stuff, so... :p

That would be a hilarious episode, Sheldon trying to come to terms with Amy having one IQ point on him.  Would be almost as bad as if Leonard won a Nobel prize first.

Another favorite AFF moment:  "My metatarsals are barkin'!"  She was struggling to walk in painful heels that were almost neon yellow and did not match the rest of her outfit.

The only thing I would change is that I'd like her to talk science more again. I miss her convoluted sentences. Some eps she acts/talks too normal. That's why I don't really like the Halloween ep, or TSS. Other than that, I'm happy they grew her into her own character to show the flipside of the coin of being a Sheldon.

This, exactly. I love her development in almost every way - growing from painfully socially awkward and disinterested to still socially awkward but maniacally interested to a little more settled-down socially (and a little less desperate), but still prone to say the oddest, most unpredictable things. Her growing attachment towards Sheldon is of course interesting, too, and its consequences worth following! But I would just like a bit more brain and primate factoids to come out of her mouth. And see her again in her lab (the only lab in the world where a person with two PhD's cleaned the petri-dishes).   :)

One of my favorite quirks of AFF is that she doesn't understand what girl talk is all about.  She tries but only comes up with topics like penis envy and tilted uteruses (uteri?).

Again, during the Priya era, when they're in the club and Bernadette starts talking about pantsuits. "I need some context." "Pantsuits suck." "And that opens her up to justifiable ridicule for wearing them. Good one Bernadette". haha.

Amy is interesting because in season 4 she was pure and knew very little about the social convention but her character developed more and more into a horny, sex overdriven, in love with Sheldon Lee Cooper.  She may at times go overboard but again that's lack of social convention, you cant learn it all at once even if its thrown at you all at once.  I like how she is more human and has separated from being Sheldon's mirror and equal.  She was the student and now she is becoming the teacher. :)

I've mentioned this in another thread, but I love it when they have scenes with Sheldon saying some random factoid to Leonard who couldn't care less and then cut to Amy doing the same with Penny. The 100th episode is a classic example.

Leonard: This is ridiculous, you're just making stuff up!

Amy: Is he always like this when he loses?

Sheldon: Oh yes, you should've been here for the great jenga tantrum of 2008!

Leonard:...You bumped the table and you know it...

Amy: Perhaps it would be kinder to play a game more suited to his abilities...(to Leonard) we'll close our eyes and count to ten while you hide.

Leonard: (annoyed)...I'm going to my room.

Amy: Very good Leonard, but next time don't tell us where you're hiding.

-

I'd just love to see something like this again, I loved watching Amy click so well with Sheldon with all her quirks while managing to annoy Leonard just like Sheldon does in the process!

Poll: Is Amy an only child?

We've heard about so many cousins, uncles and aunts but by now I think we would have heard of a sibling if she had one.

I think so...she is an only child.

And grew up alone alot with a very strict mother who cared alot for her and tried to shelter her alot.

The other question I had is whether her mother might have been a single mother. We have really heard nothing about her father either, which is quite strange.
