I'm asking because I don't know. I didn't provide you an answer because I DON'T KNOW. I'm not "demanding" anything. I'm just asking. Does anyone know? I don't see how you get hypocritical out of that.

Well if you didn't know where support for your statement was, then why didn't you amend you statements, instead if letting those statements stand? Why is it ok for you to want someone to provide support, but you don't and don't even let people know you can't support your

Everything I post is just my opinion. If that bothers you then don't read them. I know you can do it.

So your assertion that there are MANY shamys out there who are men is based on what? That's not an opinion, there's a insinuation that there's a specific number.

The Amy character has not evolved nor  has she changed because she has been put "through great trials". She has changed because the producers/ writers may have thought that her early personality was downright unlikable. She was a female Shelton but with no charm at all.

The robotic voice, the total lack of social skills and her strange interaction with the other two girls are almost cringe worthy now.

Now,the voice is much more gentle with some inflection   and she is the one giving Shelton tips on interacting in social settings and the girl crush toward Penny has gradually become less or an issue.

edited to add the line of **. I don't know what I did wrong so that the quoted section and my additions were not separate

Spot on! It makes me laugh when people say Amy changed that drastically because she's going through something. Teehee. They simply rewrote her. To be fair, the actress has done an amazing job of dealing with a character that has just been all over the place.

It's a combination of things, imo. You can't totally separate the writers from the story, and viceversa. They invented her, decided she should stick around, realized it wasn't sustainable to have her stay the way she was in the long run and gave her the story of the nerdy girl coming out of her shell to explain their changes to her characters. So yes, of course the writers changed her but in the story it's the exposure to the girls that changed her. She changed very fast, that is true, but I don't know that she's more all over the place than other characters in terms of continuity. To be honest, her changes make a lot more sense than the slutty version of Penny that emerged in recent seasons, because at least there's an explanation for it.

To say the least if not last IMO regarding the allegations of Amy being portrayed as sex maniac  :D

The writers have definitely given Amy some odd acting to do. For example during the slumber party, when she followed Penny into the bedroom to experiment with lesbianism (just a joke) It was also inconsistent with telling Penny when they met in the restaurant not to touch her breasts.  Lines meant for a laugh. ;) and not to make Amy a sex maniac. It's a comic act and that is why writers can get away with it. We are talking comedy here and not drama. It's a situation comedy created by displacing contexts. Amy is laughable because like a child would speak her mind in the most unsual circumstances. And that's what makes it comedy.

As LostinTheSun in previous posts said:
"Can we please stop portraying Amy as a sex- maniac who'll use every occasion to pounce on Sheldon, even without his consent? "

Obviously given the circumstances of the comedy as such, indeed she appears that way. For istance when she fakes to be ill longer than she really was so that Sheldon could bath her and massage her chests. She's longing for intimacy at times... she is even desparate for it. But it's all delivered in a funny way and not romantic IMO. :D

Believe it or not, their ARE many instances of that. Can you say "Seinfeld"? And are you seriously comparing the TBBT characters to Shakespeare? Seriously, give me a break.

What may or may not have been done on "Seinfeld" (a show I loved, btw) has no bearing on TBBT because TBBT is not "Seinfeld" and has never pretended to be.

The characters have always been changing, from the first scenes between Penny and the guys.

I really don't get why some people insist that TBBT has to be like any other show. It's not "Friends" just because the characters are involved in relationships and it was never intended to be a clone of "Seinfeld" or anything else. It is what it is and the characters are on their own journeys, because that is the story the writers want to tell.

All this reminds me of someone who only ever wants to hear the greatest hits of their favorite singer and objects and whines whenever the singer comes out with an album full of new songs. "But we like the old hits! We want to hear the old songs! Why do you have to keep singing new songs!!"

If I could have a penny for every thread that turns into the same old crap debate...

Anyway, since this is the Amy thread, I'm going to spam it with the best of AFF. Starting with the golden Priya era:

OK, so this isn't strictly AFF-related, but I saw this video and it made me think of her.  It's a video of an experiment (no animals harmed) with capuchin monkeys, and it turns funny.

Oh, that's so funny.  Reminds me of "That better be Tootsie Rolls you're throwing at me!" :D :D

I kinda liked her in this episode :) I saw an intelligent amy after a long time. She did test sheldon's patience well. I hope we get to see her intelligent side more often in the future episodes.

Ditto.  Loved the look on her face when she knocked "Shave and a Haircut" and dared him (with her eyes) not to finish it.

Honestly  I don't know what you mean by saying that... or to whom is specifically addressed? However it seems that you enjoy posting everywhere in this forum (lucky to have so much time) and no one has ever told you that yours are crap :D

Just thought I'd post over here too: flawless AFF in the latest episode. 100% flawless. I want them to keep this Amy around FOREEEVEEEEER. (Said with Howard's expression as I get closer to the screen).

Flawless portrayal of her too.

The longer the show goes on, the more I like AFF.

You have no idea how happy this bit made me. Amy gets her nerd back on, especially nicely contrasted with Penny, normal girl. I need more of this. (Thanks to Chloe, as usual).

It's really hilarious that you would ask someone for stats. I've asked you several times, in different threads, for you to provide some support for your contentions. Something you never provided. Now you demand someone else provide support?

Can you say hypocritical? I knew you could.

I also was wondering how many women in this forum... when I first joined as a member.

Now I've got over it > considering that the profiles do not state gender to be taken all that seriously. Some do not like to tell. :icon_wink: So how can you really tell statistically? By the magic wand I guess. :D

Word, Koopsicle.

I LOVE this Amy. Nerdy, hilarious, emotional and mature enough to tell Sheldon how she actually feels.

Royal stamp of approval!

I love what she says its always funny and quirky :D
"you think they don't have mirrors in there? I know how I look *flick hair*"
"I even stopped wearing lip gloss because you said it made my mouth look too slippery!"

We out DROPPING SCIENCE SON! :D

Love Amy, adore Shamy.

One of the best characters on the show!

Thanks! That was cute. It's funny though, I think most of her best moments this season came in the second half of the season. And it's so interesting to see now how she transitioned from those sex jokes to a different, imo better, kind of humor around mid-season. When you see that all her "best moments" one after the other at the beginning of the season were sex jokes, I get that it really made her character 1-dimensional. I think my favorite jokes from this clip were "It's so cute when she tries" and "The nose doesn't light up, but if the corpse is fresh enough sometimes you can get the leg to jerk" (still probably the best Amy line this year, neck and neck with "That's right, they're no good without the lighter").
