Jim Parsons

I'm sure he felt the writing was off. He did the best he could. If he feels bad about his performance, he shouldn't. I think there was something more to that "this is the most creative place, besides that place I'm going back to tomorrow" comment lolol.

If Jim had any mixed feelings about his experience, I doubt that he would ever come out and say that the writing was weak. I think he's too considerate and circumspect to do anything like that. He's too polite to say anything.

And it's likely that it feels completely different t to him than it does to us. And I think he was truly impressed with the process, where everyone is making suggestions, has ideas to share, whereas on BBT, the actors aren't directly involved in the storytelling process until they start rehearsals.

Now, those interviews were apparently done on Tuesday, so the process they use was new and interesting to him. But he's also written some plays, apparently, back in his Houston days, so he's not a complete stranger to that creative process.

I would hate it if people think of this show as the worst one of this season, and then have Jim's name attached to it. Even if it wasn't any fault of Jim's that the episode was disappointing, people might still connect him as the host with a weak episode.

I think the episode wasn't horrible or unwatchable and it did have some good sketches, but it wasn't the "triumph" I had hoped for, for his sake.

Jim did a great job. I typically don't watch SNL because a lot of it isn't funny to me. Jim did well with the material he had to work with (as was previously said by others in this thread). It was fun to watch him do all the skits.

Oh, Keanan and his use of the word, "dookie" Takes me back to when I was a kid and my cousins and I would use that word instead of "poop". LOL. Jim was funny in that scene. I also liked that child star skit. Haha.

Twitter has been making me smile all afternoon, a few cute comments:

"wow... Jim Parsons is like really hot."

"Jim Parsons is adorable"

"Jim Parsons is the epitome of adorableness and cuteness"

"Jim Parsons is just the cutest thing ever."

"You ever stop and think "damn Jim Parsons has beautiful eyes"

Have you guys been Tweeting all afternoon, or has Jim won himself some new fans? :)

I hope the tweets are all a bunch of new recruits to his fandom, or at least a bunch of people coming out of the woodwork to acknowledge the adorableness (my iPad changed that word to "adorable mess"--wonder which is more apt...) that is our Jimmy the Pea!

Okay, I'm feeling all sappy about him... :p

I hope his turn on SNL brings him nothing but more kudos.

I made a gifset of Jim from SNL and in 12 hours it hit 2000 notes. Which is a lot for me, I'm not that big on tumblr.

Jim is really getting populour. A lot of positive comments are being added! So much fun to see.

The writing on this show certainly made me appreciate the writers of The Big Bang Theory.

I remember back when SNL was actually funny.

Makes me think the Korean franchise is now so much funnier, sadly.

Jim was a darling though. Pretty visible he loves live performances.

So do think Jim got out of NY before this latest round of weather hit eastward?

This reminds me--did a Valentine pops concert here the weekend of the 14th and our singers had to fly out from NYC. The weather was horrible there and they had 3 flights canceled on them before one of our big sponsors here in LR sent his private jet to bring them down here.

I was wondering if Jim got trapped in NYC, if CBS would do something like that to get out to LA. :p

It's not snowing yet in NYC.

Oh, that's good. I think the Midwest is a mess and it's all headed east, again.

We had a sleet storm last night. The university where I teach on Mondays is closed today due to the weather, so I'm comfy at home. :)

I have to say that I keep thinking about that SNL promo with the sock puppet where that Bobby guy was going, "Hello, Jim Parsons..."

I keep hearing that in my head.

Maybe it was based on "So what is Sheldon's deal? Is it girls? Guys..? Sockpuppets?"

Haha it was the first that came to my mind when I saw it!

If I'm still single this summer I'm defintaly gonna declare sock puppets as my new deal.

Maybe you should make a deal with your mom, it worked for Amy eventually ;)

Would chuck and bill approved of Jim showing how "he isn't that guy"?

I don't think he needed their approval, it seemed to be more of a soft poke to some fans ;)

The song kinda rubbed me the wrong way. I know he's not Sheldon. I know there are people who thinks he is Sheldon or behaves like Sheldon. But I hope some people have common sense that Jim is not Sheldon.

All I will say is Jim better not forget what show made him famous and got him Emmys.

Jim didn't write the script for SNL, their writers did.  He had no input whatsoever.  He showed up and did what they gave him to do.   He hasn't forgotten TBBT, nor showed any lack of respect or care about TBBT.   For all we know his agents worked out a deal with SNL to do that because they were having trouble getting him roles because other project owners thought he was too much like Sheldon, that they specifically asked that the show help highlight he has other talent.   So we don't know the story behind it, but Jim has always been extremely humble and has talked very highly of TBBT.  I don't see him having changed over night just to make SNL happy.  All he did was perform what he was told to do.  I do think SNL let Jim down, however with poor writing and they didn't necessarily accomplish what they were trying to do with the opening monologue, but that was their writing issue, not Jim's delivery.
