I wonder how old he was when he started--high school? college?

In the interview that just was posted I think he says he started smoking in high school already. Listen about 11-12 minutes in! Edited by Jaime

Yeah, I had kind of forgotten that he had mentioned that--I remember it now from the edited version, him talking about smoking and drinking out in the woods.  And I love that he used one of my favorite words--hooligans! :p

I had a weird ass dream.

I was a group or something then on the news I hear Jim made an announcement at a award ceremony.

Jim and Todd are having a baby. I get extremely excited. I start looking for any news and its all over the press.

Next thing I know I am around paparazzi and Jim is passing by and paps are going at him, taking pics even becoming aggressive. I told Jim I'm so sorry. Then he goes by.

I woke up and checked my phone to see if its real. No. :(.

Anyway, I've been running about in Tumblr so I was wondering if any of you have seen this post?

Makes me really curious if any of you got any idea about it. I can't form an opinion of course, but it really has me wondering.

I don't think it has anything to do with ingratitude or anything like that. Jim, for instance, has always left right away, but he's also been very kind about signing for fans in other settings. We know that he likes to get to bed early, and they often have a table read the morning after a taping, so I've always been under the impression that he doesn't linger on the set, etc..

He certainly doesn't take the fans for granted.

I think that if you don't know the details of someone's life and cannot read their minds and don't know them personally, then you shouldn't go around trying to judge their behavior or try to assign motive or attitude.

By all means, I personally am 100% clueless on who is who in that post. I just posted it here because there seemed to be a lot more people in this thread who could give any insights. I've always thought it was prohibited to ask for signatures during tapings which is why I was so surprised reading this.

I think it's obvious (considering what some have said who have attended tapings) that they're referring primarily to Jim. I think that it's usually Kaley and Johnny that come up and sign autographs. I think that Kunal does sometimes, and I'm not sure about how often anyone else does, but I don't think that Jim ever does, so they seem to be referring especially to him.

The autographs are given at the end of the taping, not during it, and I think that the audience is kind of sent on their way--you can't linger for long or follow the actors or anything like that--so it's a matter of which actors kind of come up to the audience at the end.

I think they are referring to both Jim and Mayim because she too often leaves immediately after taping so that she can see her boys, or often she ends up having to do other work.  Remember she makes her own food, cleans her own house, does her own laundry, etc.  She writes books, does a lot of phone interviews and tries to get to bed early so that she can be up to do those things.   As Phanta said above, she and Jim have busy lives beyond the set and both try to get to bed early so they can be refreshed and ready not only for Table read, but also because both often have other things going on. Jim was taping voice overs for Home and having to learn script lines for TNH at times, Wish I was Here and Visions as well in between taping schedules.  Mayim was doing phone interviews, photoshoots for her book, edits, for her book, etc. while trying to maintain a home, and raise two boys.   They leave early to deal with these things.   It isn't that they are not grateful to their fans and often make themselves accessible to fans in other ways.

It greatly depends on the situation and environment that they are asked.  Jim may not sign after a taping but is known to sign after plays and appearances on other shows.  Johnny is very kind and is known to sign but not always sign coming out of the parking lot where fans call to him from behind a fence, so of course others will complain that he is ungrateful.  Melissa and Simon are not known to go out to sign after a taping either but it doesn't mean they won't or haven't it's just the big demand is for Jim.

Then you have people that show up with several items to sign and when there are a lot of people it simply can't be done. This is not ingratitude but pragmatics but people will interpret things of their own accord.  So be it.

The post says "acknowledge fans" --- signing is not the sole way to = acknowledgement --- announcements are made during tapings thanking fans for their support as do the actors in other venues or avenues. The poster is talking about two separate things 1) acknowledgement 2) signing and the fact that Kaley and Johnny go out and thank the fans during a taping doesn't mean they sign autographs afterwards.

Also be wary of those TBBT- Cast - Confessions there have been some very weird ones because anyone can post whether troll or fan.

Don't read in to these confessions post to much, remember it's just one persons opinion and it can be a lot of bullshit since they send them in anon.

But yes, in this case and many other it is Jim they refer to as being the "ungrateful" one who leaves straight away after taping

Ofcourse his fans know this is not the case, he leaves simply because his busy schedule and early bedtime etc, as people above have explained.

But I think this is the mainreason why he was put in the folder as "Diva" a couple of years ago. It was everywhere in the press. Even in my country, where big bang isn't even that famous, tabloids where writing about his "Diva behavior". Actually, if you go online on our biggest news website and search "Jim parsons", you only get one hit, and it's an article about how he's a diva and don't care about his fans. It's so sad that's all they've written about him as it's not even true.

But I shouldn't complain about it, cause it was because of this article I got curious about Jim and went on google, and there I fell in love. Ironic.

The film is already wrapped, and we still don't have any info on what part Jim will be playing. Wtf. :p

I know..it is darned annoying.   Other than Isla and Anson's parts though, it appears as if all the others are not near as large of parts.   I wish he had gotten Anson's part to be honest. :unknw:   Oh well, at least we will see him in another film even if far too briefly.   :girlwink:

I too wonder why they are being so darn secretive about it..... you'd think they would like the publicity of having huge stars attached to it...

All I have to add to this is that some people enjoy the attention and some people don't.

As child actors, Johnny and Kaley will have grown up with this kind of attention, it's nothing out the blue for them.

The fact JP stays away from social media in general speaks volumes.

What answer would you give to a complete stranger who declares their earnest love for you? Would you feel comfortable? Or would you avoid the situation if you could?

Ehmm.. are you asking me this?

Not really? Just to put the question out there.

What answer is there? Do you say 'Thank you'? That works for 'I loved you in....' but not 'I love you' as a statement alone.

I think, if thought about, that situation would freak most people out.

I'm no psychologist, but I think even the average person as myself can see that Jim is incredibly shy ..... I also think he may have a little social anxiety .... its evident in his mannerisms ..... although i love his little quirks, sometimes during interviews or when he's accepting awards or shaking people's hands he comes across awkward or unsure of himself when walking up on stage... I too am a little socially awkward and when Im in around alot of unfamiliar people.. I tend to distance myself and its not to be rude or anything...... its kinda like a defense mechanism for dealing with heavy social gatherings.... and Im just a regular 19 yr old... i could only imagine how that must feel for someone on Jim's level of stardom

There's a huge burden of expectation that comes with fame. People assume to know the famous because they know the character they play. There's pressure to be always 'on form' and live up to the hype, and with the level of press intrusion nowadays, if they have an off day, it makes the gossip mags.

Just wanted to add that Hugh Grant's recent crusade against corruption in the British press has made me a bit of a super-fan. :)

During an interview on Ellen, Jim was asked about his mother and how she was dealing with his "celebrity" and he talked about how she enjoyed talking about him and the show, but pretty much said that he didn't revel in that aspect of his status, describing himself as "shy or (jokingly as) cantankerous".

When he was on Jimmy Fallon's show during the Normal Heart run, Jimmy asked a question about seeing him backstage during the play and commented that he thought that Jim seemed shy.  Jim went on to talk about ducking into dressing rooms to avoid other "big celebrities" who came to visit back stage, because he was afraid that they would be forced to be complimentary of his performance.

For me the most telling thing about TV fandom is a comment Kaley made in a LA Times article last summer, she related to a story about Jennifer Aniston when she was on Friends and was dating Brad Pitt...

'I always go back to the story when Jennifer Aniston was on "Friends" and with Brad Pitt and they were out together. No one could look Brad in the eye but they were all over her, touching her, calling her Rachel like they knew her. People get really comfy with you when you're on TV.'  Johnny goes on to say this about the characters and the fans, "They all have this sweet vulnerability, so, in turn, people are really sweet to us when they approach us. It's almost like they want to take us home."

From this I get that because they are in our homes each week via TV we feel like we know them and of course why wouldn't they would want to interact with us at every possible opportunity?  But at the end of a long work day, maybe they just want to go home (just like us).

If you missed the LA Times article from June 2013 (along with some great cast photos) it can be found here:
