WoW, what a lovely article to write about a fellow human being, co-worker and friend, I believe it says a great deal about their friendship and even more about Mayim, and it made me look up the meaning of mentsch, so I learnt something from it as well.

While I think all of us were pretty much aware that her and Jim were pretty close, I thought her statement that she has "an affection and fondness for all of the actors on our show for different reasons", a fairly good look into how well the cast does get along, even if they can (and do) have very different interests and lives outside the show.

It's not only his armpits but Jim should have gotten a bikini area wax before rocking those little panties.

They are not that close off set. Period. He didn't have Mayims phone number last year to call and tell her congrats on getting an Emmy nomination until someone from the show production office got it for him. They have a great on set working friendship and get along wonderfully at events for their work (Paleyfest/ComicCon), but I feel as though some delusional shippers have transferred their Shamy love onto the real actors actually being close when in fact it's just not true. Jim is close to Johnny and second would be Kaley. Jim thinks the world of Mayim however they do not hang out off set and do not have a close friendship, like, at all. They have never been to one another's place or anything. Trust!

You all are reading too much into stuff she writes on blogs, or these official work appearances (PaleyFest) where they are playing up their roles on the show to appease the fans in the crowd. The entire cast does get along very well, though. Very rare for a show this big running this many years. For that fans should be thankful because things can get ugly on sets with egos. So far TBBT has avoided this issue.

@ rainydays how do u know that they have not been to each others houses and that Jim is not that close to Mayim? Presumably you have inside knowledge? The things they say about each other in interviews are not made up. Also the shamy shippers are well aware that the shamy is not real and can identify that. Why is that you feel it necessary to make such a statement?

I think you summed it up quite nicely, its a shame though that some people feel the need to jump on statements and ridicule Jim and Mayims friendship though!

I tend to agree. It's obvious that this cast have good working relationships but beyond that it's impossible to know. I haven't seen any photos of Jim and Mayim outside of work events either. I know he's been seen out socially with Kaley but that's about it. Not that I think it matters, the cast are just lucky that they all get on so well.

Mayim's words about Jim are so full of love and light. They make me happy not only because she wrote them, but also because they reflect so closely the impression most of us have about him, without even knowing him.

 

Regarding Jim/Mayim, I do believe most of us here are sane enough and base our liking on the great connection we see between them in their public appearances and on the sets, and also on the deep regard, affection, admiration and respect both of them keep expressing about each other openly and generously. Not on any delusion of them hanging out at each other's place all the time. Maybe they do, but it  doesn't matter. It also doesn't matter to me whether Jim is closer in his personal life to Johnny, Kaley and/or anyone else - I appreciate those friendships too - but we really don't have enough data to quantify and grade his relationships.

 

In any case, it doesn't irritate me to hear his other friendships within the cast talked about and appreciated, and I'm not sure why talking of the Jim/Mayim friendship irritates some of you.

Rainydays, what makes you say Johnny is the closest to Jim? If it's all about photographic evidence of who spends time with whom outside of work, I don't know where you'd get that idea because Johnny is the only one of the original five I HAVEN'T seen photographed with him outside of show-related events and trips.

 

In fact, according to them, all five of the originals have socialised outside of work. In the first Comic Con appearance, Johnny told how the whole main cast would watch the show at Jim's house every week, where Johnny would fall asleep because his home was comfortable, and also early on, Simon (I think it was him) said they were always going out to dinner together and that they get recognised more easily "when we're all together".

Nobody has said that Jim and Mayim were socializing away from work or dating or canoodling or any other thing.

 

But it's obvious that they are very close at work and share a special bond somehow.  Jim has stated over and over how much he enjoys working with her and she has done the same.  And they obviously have some kind of connection that they recognize in each other.

 

That doesn't mean that they're connected at the hip and no one has ever said or implied anything like that.

But I do think that they are kindred spirits in some way and that binds them as friends.

Well, smarty pants, Mayim's phone broke down and had to get a new phone. That was when she went to Atlanta and had to help an old man, before the nominations were announced. She needed to get a new one, so Jim wasn't aware of her new number.

ETA: (Whatever. We HAVE no idea in their personal lives to even know the real story behind it.)

 

And how in the world are YOU aware that they do not hang or meet after the set? Are you Jim's assistant?

 

Oh, honey. Your least fondness (because hate is such a strong word) for Mayim is emulating so much even if you do not speak of it. Remember when you said that Jim and Kaley had the most sexual chemistry? You must be emulating your love for the two that makes you think SO.
