thuslyinformed
I was actually VERY ca earlier. I had to be as I was in uniform. I had a plan of what to say... It was only going to be on the lines of how much I adore his talent and thank you for being a big part of bringing something I adore to this world. Sometimes the ability to thank someone you would never normally get a chance to is best feeling in the world... For both parties. An no harm would be done would it? I'm a big fan if Jim's. And I mean big. I've seen some negative comments today about my behaviour. But it's taken with a pinch of salt. If something excites me then I'll go for it and do what makes me happy. There is never any harm intended and if it did I would back off. That's all really! And here in the UK how many chances will we get to be able to fangirl like this, very few i imagine. Not everyone is mad or a stalker because they are a fan.

OMG! I was thinking that exact same thing! He seems pretty fond of this girl - how does he know her? When I looked at her IG, she has tons of followers, but she is only following one person: him. ????

There is never any harm intended and if it did I would back off. That's all really! Hey, I hope you didn't think I was saying anything negative about you--I was just joking around. I do envy you the chance to see him in your own environment. I know I'd never have him walking through my workplace. I just hope you have a chance to see him at some point, like maybe when he's leaving. I do think you should go for it if the chance is there. Years ago, when I became a fan of Patrick Stewart, I went to see him at a ST con. While I was there I joined his then-official fan club and that first day of the con, they invited me to go to a party in the room of one of the club members. Well, I told myself, "What if PS just happened to show up at the party? Nah, that would probably never happen." I was staying with my sister and her place was about an hour away, so I thought I should get back, etc. Found out the next day that he had indeed shown up at the party. I could have sat there and had a conversation with him. Ever since then, my motto is, Do what you can when you can do it! So, while he's there breathing the same air as you, jump at any chance you get! Edited June 25, 2014 by phantagrae

kerrycec03
see maybe I am numb to it but I've worked in NYC for 11 years right across from the Zeigfeld (where all the premieres are), next to Carniege Hall and down the block from the London hotel (where celebs stay). When I first started working back in the day I would wait to see them and everything, but now I am not into it. Not to say I wouldn't still like to see them, but I think I'm numb to the celebrities when its around you. But I do see all the fans outside of all the venues and kudos that get to meet their dreams. Like today the Transformers premiere is going on right outside my building and the herds of folks out there are insane (they are gonna jam up my commute!! lol). I get it, and don't judge anybody who does it.
denajeanx
Yeah, I don't think anyone said anything negative here. But, there were quite a few passive-aggressive tweets about the conversation on this thread today.
phantagrae
People can be really stupid--and "I'm cooler than you" in their attitudes about celebrities. But in reality, I think it's much ruder for people to go on twitter and talk crap about people they don't know, or worse, to say negative things to a celeb or in the celeb's twitter when the celeb can easily see it. I remember Wil W being all happy and excited about doing another BBT ep and some people on his twitter page were saying crap about the show, how stupid it is, and the usual crap, to the point where Wil said something to them about not talking that way about his friends. I think that most stars are used to fans wanting to just say hi, or to grab a selfie or an autograph, or whatever, and I think that most of them are okay with that. And if people are too stupid understand the joking exaggeration of this thread, then that just reflects on them.
rachelshamyfan
Let's say for example I had gone to the hotel, there would be no way on this earth I could just get any coherent words out to say anything to Jim I just be grinning like an idiot! I get it, and don't judge anybody who does it. I've lived in LA since '07 and I remember early on doing the celebrity stalking thing one time when I went out of my way to drive somewhere where one of my favorite actors was known to hang out. So I get it. But I've seen a few celebrities now a few times over the years in restaurants and at the airport and such, and it really kind of loses its luster once you're like "oh, they really are just normal people." I've never felt compelled to approach once I'm actually in that situation; if anything, my husband and I just try to ignore them and let them do their thing. Although... One time I got to hang out with the ex-husband of an actress on one of my favorite TV shows, and since they're still on good terms I was a little fan girly and wanting to ask him all kinds of things (but I restrained myself. lol) I really admire Jim a lot and while I don't know if I'd go out of my way to meet him (or any other celebrity anymore) I definitely get the compulsion to do so and I know that he'd probably be nothing but sweet (as long as boundaries were still respected). phantagrae
Jim is online on insta! London selfie on the way maybe?? It's almost his bedtime now.. That's funny, because in LA it's still only 1:40 in the afternoon. I wonder if his body clock is all messed up--although he's been up since the wee hours. I've met a few famous people--I did get to meet PS a few months later when I went to this event put on by the fanclub. He had brunch with us and came around to each table and had a little chat with us.. Very cool. But as a musician, we get a handful of celebs, mostly music people, of course. But we have had actors do narration parts with us before, so I've met Maya Angelou, Bill Clinton (he was gov here before he was president, so he lived near my neighborhood), William Shatner, and Danny Glover (though I don't think I spoke to Glover at any point.) Anyway, I would love it if there was some kind of crazy reason for Jim to come and do something with our orchestra, which is one of my more far-fetched fantasies.
