silverangel Posted April 26, 2013 Posted April 26, 2013 (edited) I loved this interview because he seemed so relaxed and like such a boss! I love his KMA attitude! I think he's earned it and deserves it--he's done the work, he's got the talent, he's generally a nice guy but he doesn't have to kiss anyone else's A-S-S to prove himself. He's come into his own and doesn't have to turn himself inside out or beg anyone to like him. Reminds me of Cyrano de Bergerac--"I loathe the parasite liana, curled about the trunk. I myself am a tree. Not young, not beautiful, but free." Of course, Jim is young and beautiful , but the point is that he can stand on his own as a person and doesn't have to depend on the opinion of others to validate himself. You just describe him perfectly.... I agree with you all the way... Thanks phanta Edited April 26, 2013 by silverangelD

I thought exactly the opposite, he seemed really nervous and not at all comfortable, and my wasn't it a short interview?, or was that just the old "time flies etc" I'm not a fan of David Letterman, don't find him funny at all so perhaps some of that transferred onto my interpretation of the interview, who knows. Convict13 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) look: Jim on CBS news with Glasses...... holy moly http://www.cbsnews.com/video/watch/?id=50145672n They cut him short, 2 mins interview? Why even bother! But yes I think new glasses are adorable, his short-sightedness must be getting worse he needs to wear them all the time? I have a theory (pardon the pun) as to why he didn't wear them to Letterman, because then he would see the audience, and I get the opinion he doesn't like to see the audience, he likes to hear them and know they are there, but perhaps not necessary to see them. Convict13 Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 (edited) Thanks The_shewwy!! Hey guys, watching this interview..didn´t you feel that some "Sheldon´s personality" is coming to Jim? I mean, in previous interviews looked like he was so kind and eager to please everybody, and now he is saying he doesn´t care any more. He is changing little bit. What do you think? And I have a curiousity, because I just watched this program (Letterman) few times because of Jim Parson (and thanks of you posting here I would like to know who more is going to this program? Anybody I know? Some Hollywood actors/actress maybe? Yes I have to agree, but I think it is probably more that he hasn't changed but that he allows those parts of his personality to show now, he doesn't perhaps feel the need to be eager and kind all the time. I certainly noticed a little bit more anger and bite in his interviews of late. Letterman would be the Number 1 late night show in USA (correct me if I am wrong) and yes everyone goes on it, Letterman's delivery reminds me a lot of Ed Sullivan (perhaps he is channelling him), but he was actually working with Johnny Carson when Carson retired and I believe it was thought he would take over the reigns of Johnny's old show(which I cannot remember the name of) but NBC gave it to Jay Leno, so Letterman went to CBS and there he remains, hopefully when Letterman retires Craig Ferguson will step into his shows. The Letterman segment was about 9 minutes, which is pretty good for a talk show--did you watch the Late Night clip or did you watch the full interview, where he talks about the basketball game and all that. He is full of sass and totally relaxed. I think it's different in some ways from his earlier interviews on talk shows and on Letterman specifically. If you compare last night to his first couple of times on the show you can really tell how relaxed he was. I prefer Letterman to almost all the talk shows except maybe Craig Ferguson. I like Jimmy Fallon, too, more than Kimmel or Conan, and then Leno least of all. But I like that Letterman really likes Jim and really understood what Jim was trying to say about his "KMA" birthday feelings. Really enjoyed it. Shamynatress Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I was not aware that Jim is shortsighted. I thought the glasses are a fashion thing. But I love them. It's hot! Personally I think that Jim is being more selfconfident and cheeky in the interviews now than he was some years ago. I really like him being a bit sassy. It suits him very well. I like him the most with Ferguson and Ellen and really hope we will get appearances in those shows asap. Does anybody know of the SAG interview took place and if there is a possibility to see it? Oh wow he is shortsighted I didn't know...I agree, he looks so sexy in those glasses. I watched that interview at Letterman and I think that is great that he is more more courageous in the pronouncements, more confident , and there also it showed. I love him being little sassy and his jokes especially at Ferguson. But I think that it depends on the interviewer and questions. This radio interview was so much different. I like that kind of interviews, interesting questions, well prepared interviewer, and interesting talk between them. When he was at Letterman he say that i his 40 birthday there were big party in his house so...I imagine great party till the morning... phantagrae Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 This is what I posted at the other forum about his Letterman appearance. I loved his appearance last night--he looked so relaxed and easy-going. And I love his kiss-my-ass attitude. Someone commented on the YT posting something about feeling bad that he's so dissilusioned or whatever. I guess they meant his KMA attitude, but I don't think that's what it's about at all. I think he said it in kind of a not-quite-clear way, that Letterman distilled into the kiss-my-ass thing--that he's not worried about having to impress people or do any glad-handing or any ass-kissing himself, the way you do when you're striving, like he said, like a 13-yr-old trying to fit in. I think it's great--he's gotten to a point where he's had great success, he has great friends, recognition of his talent, he's doing a job he loves, etc. Though, like he said, he has to maintain some decorum and be a good person to work with, he doesn't have to scramble around to try to make people like him or whatever. This reminds me of something I heard a man say--completely different context, but essentially the same thing. Sometimes you find yourself doing all kinds of things to impress certain people or a certain kind of person and then you wake up and realize those aren't the people you should be trying to impress or trying to please. I think that's kind of where Jim is at with this attitude. He's done the work he had to do get where he is now, but he's not a kid having to beg for auditions or whatever, and he's not trying to be accepted by the "in crowd" or anything else. He's got his life established apparently the way he wants it and he's had enough success that he can do the things he wants to do in life. He doesn't have to worry about the in-crowd or whatever. (He IS the in-crowd in some ways! ) I love KMA Jimmy!

I agree with this. I think we are starting to see the real Jim I think in the second interview here (with glasses) again he is repeating the same: I don´t care Why he needs to say this to everybody? It is like he is upset. Maybe, as Silverangeld said, he needs vacations :D

Shamynatress Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 OMG, this interview is awesome. How touched he was talking about the audience reacting in Normal Heart and almost starting to cry. That was sooooo emotional. I could listen to him for hours and I wish there where much more interviews in that style.
Pomita Posted April 27, 2013 Posted April 27, 2013 I couldn't log in last night because my internet failed (so I haven't even watched the new episode yet). I'm feeling just so overwhelmed with so much Jim goodness right now. I'm finding him absolutely cute and adorable with the big glasses. Looking so geekily handsome, or handsomely geeky. He was throwing such attitude in the Letterman interview! I thought it was funny. I agree that he may have become more 'real' and less eager to please other people now, which is something that happens (and should happen, I believe) after a certain age. But I also think he was partly putting on an act over there, just for fun - he has a way of doing that on talk shows sometimes, exaggerating a certain feeling or tendency he has just to create a comic effect. Certainly he was more cocky in that interview than in all the others he's giving nowadays, and I'm pretty sure I caught a wicked twinkle in his eyes. I absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE the SAG interview. He's so witty and articulate and expressive, open and honest, and we got to know a lot about his theater background, the little vignettes of his getting into Noises Off (his first play) and TBBT, Normal Heart and Harvey. His comment about the girl in the unaired TBBT pilot 'splitting' into Raj and Howard - 'science' - made me laugh so hard. It was interesting to hear of how he got into smoking and drinking when he was in high school, and (fortunately) got diverted back into theater. His love and passion for his work, and his knowledge of the intricacies of acting, shows through in everything he says. I also really appreciated his words about competition in the field, and 'someone else's success is not your failure'. And then when he broke down at the end, talking of his TNH experience.. it was warmly endearing and moving and so genuine. I couldn't help crying myself. Very vibrant and emotional interview.. I find myself in a whole different mind-space, after watching it. And admiring Jim even more, if that's possible.
