Jim in a horror movie would be great! ahahah my boyfriend practically has all the books of Stephen King and he had spoken to me of this book

It's too funny that Jim uses IG to promote himself in a movie :sarcastic:

Hey, it's all about networking! If you have to put up with the "downside" of celebrity (lack of privacy, etc.), you may as well reap the benefits as well. :-)! On another note, he must read really fast to finish that massive book in a month with all that's on his plate.

OMG!  I read The Stand way back when the first version came out in paperback, around 1980, I think.  It was an abridged edition of SK's original manuscript, which the publisher made him shorten.

Then he changed publishers and they re-issued the unabridged edition, which I also read.

Loved the miniseries with Gary Sinise, et al.

So happy to see that they're going to give it a theatrical treatment!  I would LOVE to see Jim in this film.  I wonder what role he wants...

I wish I could access IG right now so I could comment on his pic and he might answer...

I got into SK when I was in college and for years I read pretty much everything he wrote.  Then I kind of phased out of that and I missed several books along the way.  I've read some of his later books and I have an interesting CD of a book reading he did somewhere.  I don't know that that story was ever published, but it's kind of neat--funny and also kind of sad and a little scary (murder, not monsters.)  I can't recall the title off the top of my head--something about pets.  There's a cat and a dog that play an important part in the story.  A man gives his wife a kitten and she gives him a puppy, etc..

ETA: It's called LT's Theory of Pets.  I guess it has been published at some point.

Anyway, back to Jim--I wonder if SK is a fan of the show and how much say he might have in getting Jim involved.  Or who else Jim might know who would be involved in the production.

Very cool. :)

ETA: Looks like the movies are going to be from Warner Brothers, so maybe Jim has something of an in already!

Jim plus Books, some of my favorite things together :)

If he does get a part in this production, I would love for him to be in all 4 movies, but if it goes into production in 2015, I don't know when he'd have the time, at least for the first movie, or the first two, until TBBT ends.

I so need for this to happen on at least some level!

Oh you are right! I have just laughed when I have read it  :p

I've said it before, but Jim's marketing and management people are brilliant.  We are going into awards season with SAG and Golden Globe nominations in mid-December and voting going on through the holidays. He has a holiday special in mid-December, the Intel marketing push throughout the month , the Craig Ferguson appearance and pre-publicity for Home probably starting in January.  They really know how to get him out there, without it being in an annoying in-your-face sort of a way.

As an aside, I would be surprised if we do not hear something after the New Year about his summer plans, I really have a feeling that something is up.  I don't know what, but the last time Jim put on bulk (like he has recently) was when when he was physically prepping to do Harvey.  Just my opinion.

Its not quite the same bulking up this time thought...:p in 2012 he just ate more so he would get a bigger physique to be able to get through broadway. This time he's doing some serious working out, building muscles. His body now is no where close to the one he had in season 5.

Having just finished reading the book, I wonder if he sees himself in a particular role or if he just wants to be a part of it in any capacity.

I was just thinking about The Stand the other day because Outbreak was on TV (and eerily relevant as that movie deals with an outbreak of a mutation of the ebola virus...YIKES!)

I remember that around the time I read the book that I got some kind of cold or something with all kinds of congestion in my nose and chest and I kept thinking about "Captain Tripps", the nickname someone in the book gave to the disease... :p

I'm trying to remember all the characters in the book now and the actors in the miniseries version.

he can do it in the summer- if he is going for a part in the movie, then I assume he's not going for Broadway (whatever happened with that Jules Feiffer's play reading)... ow, nevrmind, I want Jim in everything lol (but i also want him to stay healthy, so i hope he takes some proper rest this summer too  :shy:  )

Well, that's assuming that the first film is ready to go into production by this summer.  I don't think the article mentions how far along they are in prep, so there's no telling when they will begin filming.  And even so, if he were to get a role in the film(s), they might be able to work around his schedule, since movies generally film out of order.  So, depending on how long a shoot schedule they're looking at for the first of the 4 films, and what role he could theoretically get, if he were in the first film, he might do his work over the summer or during some other break in the TBBT schedule.  Who knows?

I like how we're already working out his schedule when he doesn't even have a role yet! LOL!

If he has committed to doing a play this summer, then it will happen, movie role or no movie role.  These things take a while to get off the ground and I don't think they've finished casting (or have they even begun?), so it could be a while before it starts filming.

I've always kind of wished that Jim would do Shakespeare In The Park in NYC..http://www.publictheater.org/en/Free-Shakespeare-in-the-Park/

He doesn't really need the money, so he could afford to take part in a free public theater production.  They do two plays each summer, one from mid-May until the end of June and another that runs from the beginning of July until the middle of August.

I would so love to see him do Shakespeare, no matter where, no matter how.

I read that  Matthew McConaughey is in talks to play Randall Flagg, but hasn't been officially cast yet, and WB is the studio making the film, which can't hurt Jim's chances of being cast if wants to be in it - four films sounds pretty ambitious, I wouldn't be surprised if they cut one and made it a trilogy.

Jim NEEDS to do another Funny or Die video

"Giant love tingles"  He looks like he is going to bust out laughing.

I second this!!!!

Wonder what is exactly that makes some ppl look hot when they smoke... is weird because, logically we all know that smoking is bad, etc. but still, is like the visual thing of it.... don't know, is weird, but looking at the comments in the video, i'm not the only lunatic that thinks Jim looks hot smoking cigarettes lol  :icon_rolleyes:

Um Jim looks rough in that video!

He's definitely improved with age, right now he's looking pretty darn hot

I think a lot of him looking rough in that video is due to deliberate makeup choices - he is portraying a guy who makes a living writing eulogies, after all - but I agree that Jim, like fine wine, just gets better with age.
