Break a leg, Jimmy!!

These were my two favorites from Twitter today...from @Broadway Girl NYC...who got to attend the tech run through this afternoon...I am way too exited about the very early feedback...

The @ActOfGodBway set is beautiful. It looks like a staircase with #angelwings. And #clouds. And one super duper #JimParsons. #Broadway

#Costume #spoileralert: God wears neon orange sneakers with his #heavenly white robes @ActOfGodBway @TheTweetOfGod #Broadway

Now, until tomorrow we won't know if the sneakers were tech run-thru gear or costume choices, but we do know that Jim loves his bright sneakers...can't wait for more.... :)

I remember reading an article, I think it was an interview with the author of the play, where it was mentioned that "God" would wear sandals, but there was also an interview where Jim said he hated sandals and hoped they weren't going to make him wear them.

I wonder if the sneakers are a compromise or, as you say, maybe just for the tech run-through.  I would have loved the idea of Jim's bare tootsies, though... :p

I declare today National Jim Parsons Day!

He will be starring in two separate events playing coast to coast and it's going to be lovely! :p

I'd suggest we all take the day off, but I don't think our bosses would be very understanding...

There are usually single seats available, but probably not right up front. You'll probably have better luck, and a better seat, if you go to a matinee during the week. The show is dark Monday once it officially opens with only a 3pm showing on Sundays. Good luck, I'm sure you'll be able to get something!

Doesn't The Late Late Show tape in LA?

I don't think he's on the Late Late Show.  He's not listed.

Someone said he was a last minute addition.  Maybe he's doing something on SKype or whatever.  I wonder if it's some kind of "God" thing, like he's communicating as God or whatever.

Or he could have pre-taped something before he left LA.

JIM PARSONS TOUCHED MY HAND!!! #starstruck

I'm so intrigued!  So is he not wearing the robes?  I guess when he said that the opening is God saying that he is using Jim Parson's body, maybe he is dressed as himself.  Anything to bring the plaid back!!

There was no appearance by Jim on the Late Late Show, but the play was mentioned at the top of the show, because of Javerbaurm's connection.  And later in a little joke segment, Jim was mentioned again.  It was a "Guess Google" thing where the guests were supposed to guess what Google would suggest if you typed in part of a search.  So the thing was "Why can't I..." and one of the "options" was "...book Jim Parsons on my show." :p

There were some nice posts on IG with positive responses from play attendees. :)

Do the papers wait to review the show until it officially opens?

I'm dying for a detailed report of some kind. :)  (Too used to Taping Reports and spoilers...)

Typically the media do not do official reviews until Opening night.   They may do a brief summary kind of quick mention from the preview but wait until official opening before doing a full on review.

Three to four weeks seems a long time to be in previews. Any reason for someone not familiar with broadway it is so long?

Seems 3-4 weeks of previews are quite common for Broadway.

Source: Playbill

Between the first day of rehearsal and the first preview, usually no more than a month or two pass. A typical rehearsal period for a Broadway show, said Equity spokesperson Maria Somma, is 6-8 weeks. Frequently, a show will continue rehearsals even after beginning previews, and, sometimes, a show will rehearse even after it has officially opened. The former is a common practice...

Yay! Jim looked great on the Today Show. And they showed pictures from the first preview last night. It looks like he does wear the orange sneakers, with the robes over his regular clothes lol. And he sits on the couch talking to the audience. Can't wait to see it (May 22nd for me!)
