Jim Parsons

I got to see Act of God this past Friday night. Hilarious show. Jim is truly amazing in it. It's basically just him sitting there for an hour and a half talking. There's not even any intermission. It was laugh out loud funny but, like Jim has said in interviews, it also ends up really thought provoking and moving I think.

I did stage door afterwards, and got Jim's autograph on my playbill. He was very friendly and gracious as always. The person next to me asked him if he would say Bazinga for her. He replied "not on your life, what do you think this is work?" very sarcastically lol. It was funny (he was nice about it of course and everyone around him laughed). I went back Saturday afternoon for better pics. Here's a few:

He looks so cute in a ball cap! Personally, his look with the "newsboy" cap does nothing for me.

awww very sweet, glad you had a great time! love the way he handled the bazinga thing haha :p It makes me cringe though when people bring up big bang theory while he's doing this new role...i can only imagine him thinking "great thank you for liking sheldon but how was this role...what did you think of this performance?" When i went, during the standing ovation at the end, someone a few rows behind me yelled "woo sheldon" while jim was bowing...like no i'm sorry sir that is jim parsons..go to a bbt taping and yes scream sheldon all you want, go see jim in a play and its jim :p i know that all of that comes with being famous for a particular character but as an actor you try and expand your work and hope that people still connect with your new roles so i just sorta feel for him sometimes. anyways...haha :p

awww seeing this pics is making me so excited for when I go on Saturday!!  He looks so happy (still amazed at the idiots that make BBT references when you are there to see him for AAOG).  Like compliment the body of work you just witnessed, and if you are a fan, then you know from numerous interviews that he is so proud of theater and wouldn't entertain the Bazinga comments...but he is always so polite

Does anybody know if Jim appearence at the Today show on Thursday is a pre-taped segment?

Cause if not I'm gonna be outside the nbc studios :p

Pre-taped.  He taped it on press day for the play.   It was just held for airing on the day of the actual open of the play.

That comment of his is actually on someone's video, where he says, "what do you think this is, work?" :)

It's among the various videos posted on IG under the #anactofgod collection.

I go there all the time to find posts that don't show up in my regular feed. :)

I have found that there are many people who will post things like, "I just saw Sheldon in An Act of God".  Even when it says JIM PARSONS on the playbill, even when they got JIM PARSONS' autograph.  Come on, people!

I also find it kind of disrespectful.  I mean, even though it's an iconic role for which he'll be remembered forever, still, they didn't buy Broadway tickets to The Big Bang Theory, but to see JIM PARSONS in a new role.  Sheesh.

Anyway, he's still a cutie and so kind and generous when he works that autograph line! :)

And I'm glad to hear the Rockets won last night!  I checked in on the game a couple of times and the Rockets had a slight lead, but it was fairly early in the game, and then I missed the end, so I hadn't seen a final score.

I was wondering if the flooding had hit Houston.  I heard about the flooding in San Antonio, and some other areas, but I hadn't heard about Houston, specifically.  I always wonder how much Jim worries about his family when this kind of weather hits.  I know he keeps in touch, but I wonder if he sometimes frets, during tornado/hurricane seasons.

I know I worry about my parents when I hear about heavy snow in the ABQ area, and my dad calls me whenever he hears about bad weather in AR. :)

We had tornado watches and warnings in part of the state last night, so I'm half-expecting to hear from my dad today... :p

Anyway, I wonder how Jim's feeling about the play now, getting ready for the actual opening night.  Wonder what the critics will think.

I also wonder if they've made any real changes during previews as they prepare for opening night.

I so wish I could go!

Yes the flooding in Texas is very bad. I know for sure that parts of Houston are flooded and unfortunately there have been people injured there. Jim grew up in Spring, Texas to the north of Houston and if his family still lives there the flooding has not reached them. They may be cut off from the city though due to highways and interstates in the area being closed or underwater. I am sure he worries sometimes though he also finds the weather and storms and hurricanes fascinating.

Parts of Dallas and Wichita Falls are also flooded but my parents have not been affected. Their neighborhood is not flooded but people in other parts of the city have been evacuated from their homes. As strange as it sounds, when you have grown up there your whole life the weather insanity is something you get used to and it just becomes background noise for everyday life.

A little behind the scenes video from An Act of God press day last week.

I loved the comments from Tim Kazarinsky on Jim: "Jim Parsons is ridiculously talented.  I come from Second City, Saturday Night Live, I'm sitting on stage, I feel like I am taking a master class in acting every night."

Let His people go...to the official #AnActOfGod press day. See behind-the-scenes footage from last week's event. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5yPKeSf-zZs

'An Act of God' Holds Strong in Third Week of Previews

If anyone has gone to see the play and is willing to write a review for Star Watch Byline, please PM me immediately.  You would be credited as you wish as a guest writer.  I really hope someone who has gone is willing to do a review so we can have a first-hand review up on opening day if possible.   Please, please, please consider it!   Thank you!
