Jim Parsons

Recommended Posts

Don't like a particular show that someone you want to see is on? Like Jim being on The View? No problem. My solution? Record it on my DVR and wait until the show is over. Then I can turn it on and fast forward until the person I actually wanted to see comes on.

I set my VCR to record it.  Also easy to fast-forward to the good parts.  And since he's on before the other guest, I can record over the latter part of the show. :)

Thank you for the link. I'm glad I didn't waste my time running over there. Love Jim, dislike the show. And there was really nothing to the interview other than I love to hear him talk about Todd. Love that he said he already feels married to him (even without that paper). Not much revelation there other than this is the first time he said maybe to the marriage question.

It's very interesting that Jim said they would get married at some point. It was not mentioned last night, but then again, there was no pointed question about it. Just the discussion about the trash National Enquirer threw out there and that Jim made his denial through IG. I hope they do get married at some point, they seemed so happy last night, I don't think I've ever seem Jim look so in love or effusive in his comments about Todd before.

Damn, I had a ticket to The View, I got off the wait list, but thought I'd be cutting it too close to my train at Penn. Damn train was 30 mins late. Oh well, I'm so beyond thrilled with what I've gotten this month.

I don't think you missed anything and ITAS was the one thing that no one else can see as we will only have the edited version.

This book came out today and it is funny as hell, not-all-right in all-the-right-ways, ultimately very moving and it is written by the extraordinary @ryanoconn and I have to think a whole lot of u would love it. Link in my bio to "I'm Special and Other Lies We Tell Ourselves." Beautiful work, Ryan!!!

Can't remember if Kerrycec covered this from ITAS, but they were talking about Jim's dad and how Jim felt he was still with him. Jim said that he was always bad with directions but that when he moved to NY he found he was able to get around the city easily. Figuring it out came quickly to him and he felt that it was his dad's presence that did that as he was good with that kind of stuff.

Just spilling out tidbits as I remember them.

Still swooning over "baby."

AAoG Spoiler Alert especially for those that have been

Nice adlib when Michael was asking for names from the audience for questions and it was Cherish, he said very appropriate for tonight.  Script change to Caitlyn Jenner (as expected) and after this line Jim was heckled by a guy at the side with a loud F U  and some other comments that I could not hear.  Jim managed it well but I think it threw him a little.  He got Archangel Michael to sort him out helped by security.  Couldn't see if they threw him out or just warned him.  Otherwise another great performance.  Sadly my last but I might go and try for a good photo in the sun if there is any tomorrow.

Ok saw Inside The Actors Studio.... and I am still glowing and feel so blessed to have gotten this chance.

Really quick (I will add more tomorrow during my lunch break) but it was an amazing experience!!

OMG lasted over 3 hours. He spoke about everything but the passion when talking about Todd brought me to tears. Todd spoke too and you can tell he is shy. He said he works for the Its Wonderful Production company and started describing what is what a Jim says "sell it baby, sell it" was classic!!

He spoke about how they were a blind date situation (location Karaoke bar which Jim hates). Jim lights up when talking about Todd. I am getting teary eyed writing this part it was so adorable.

He spoke about Mayim more how brilliant it is to work with her and how talented she is and how her coming in as a female Sheldon and making it her own is amazing. Not much regarding Shamy as a whole more Mayim the actress and he would hate it if he didn't get to work with her.

He spoke about his early days growing up, his father & his death, the time in Houston.

His high school years and the. Undergrad.

Of course a lot of BBT convo. He said Sheldon would describe Penny as a salty piece of fudge. And Leonard he tells everything to but its not the same closeness as with Amy. He talked about the audition, the memorizing the difficult verbage, and more of what we have already heard.

He spoke in depth about A Normal Heart. They showed the funeral scene. It was so dramatic watching him watch the clips.

They showed one of Jim's favorite Sheldon nerd moments which is the Leonard Nimoy napkin from Penny (Jim laughed when Kaley says "all I'm giving you is the napkin"), and favorite Shamy moment is the relationship agreement from Flaming Spittoon (which Jim laughed when Mayim says "its so romantic"). It was so enjoyable watching him watch his scenes and see what parts get to him.

Then of course AAOG. So proud and he was nervously excited about it.

Then afterwards was a Q&A by students of Pace and they asked not fandom questions but more acting guidance questions one would ask a mentor. He drifted so many times and called himself out for it.

He loves theater and acting education. That was so clear.

Feel free to ask me any questions. This by far was up there with a life changing experience. I even left with such a scene of appreciation if that makes sense.

Ok, I'm being optimistic that they will include some of Todd's speaking in ITAS. I was just looking at the website for it and they have Neil Patrick Harris's interview and there's a clip with his husband, David Burka, sitting and talking just like Todd, discussing their wedding and their twins. We probs won't get the entire thing, but we should get some!

Keeping my fingers crossed!

My 17 yr old son just told me I need to get a grip on my "Jim Parsons obsession". And sadly I think he has a point

My husband says the same.

Sad thing is it makes me sad thinking when I see him in July that may be the only time I see him.

Thanks to you both for reporting back about it and giving us so many details!

I think that one of the things that maybe made Lipton appreciate Jim so much is that he really is attuned to acting as a craft--the way he has talked in other interviews about how you just have to go in and do the role however you see it--like the story he's told about his HIMYM audition--how even if they give you some kind of character description that you feel you might not fit, that you should just do what you think you can do in that role and let them decide if they like it or whatever.

People ask him how he prepares for TBBT and all that, and he always gives real, usefull, practical replies.

I can totally see him as a teacher at some point.  Maybe when he's older, after TBBT, he'll give workshops or classes or something.  Even one of his AAOG co-stars said that watching him is like taking a master class.

Even if he didn't do it regularly, having him come into a theater program somewhere--like at USD or wherever--and do a master class with some of the students would be incredible.

Master classes can be so life-changing for kids in the arts.  No matter how good your teacher(s) are, hearing advice and critique from a new voice, especially someone who has so much to offer, can be invaluable.

Preach! :icon_biggrin:  i just started my college acting course (hoping to get into a BA or BFA soon too) so i absolutely agree 100%. omg as an actor yes master-classes are phenomenal so to have one from jim would be so incredibly inspiring haha (for me personally anyway). i mean one of my lecturers was a past student of the actors studio so she's teaching us all the things she was taught and i always think about really how great jim would be as an acting lecturer. I totally agree, seeing him in AAOG was a great learning experience, so many things he does inspires me in my work so its great to see it person. My college is also practically attached to warner bros studios so i always hope they invite him to come guest speak since he works next door so heres to hoping haha.

Wow--a heckler?  Why would someone go to see such a play just to heckle it?  Was the Jenner line something about Bruce being the only one of Kardashians he (God) liked or something like that?

I wonder what the guy was objecting to?

Anyway, I wonder if he's ever had that experience before, since usually with plays you deal with audience noise (candy wrappers, cell phones, talking, coughing.)

But maybe since this play is more like a stand-up routine, some people approach it that way, since stand-up comedians tend to get hecklers all the time.

As for the ITAS I think that the part that is usually more pared down is the Q&A with the students.  From the ones I've seen, they have a few of the more interesting questions, or the ones that illicit the most interesting responses from the guest.

I'm sure we'll lose some of Jim's comments, but hopefully not too much of it.

I believe there are a lot of transphobic maniacs who choose to remain ignorant rather than struggle to understand something different. Good for Jim for handling it the way he did. He mirrored what any stand up comedian what have done.

I think it's the angle.  We know that he is still working out, he has a NY trainer....the t-shirt he has on is from his trainers gym (Drive 495)
