OMFG guys!   He commented on my IG pic.  I am in hysterics.

Ok, so the premise of the play, as we know, is God wants to set the record straight on certain things and because He is so omnipotent, mere humans couldn't understand or see Him, so He's coming to us

So it was a great experience. I got Jim's autograph and a selfie! Great times. Here's the Majim hug from my vantage point. And when the cast left he kissed and hugged Mayim. Super cute, so glad I

As a non-native speaker, thank you for saying that! English is my third language (Czech is my native and German is my second) and although I feel more and more sure with my English skills as time goes by, it's still quite hard sometimes to find the right words, haha. So it's nice to know that native speakers don't mind our mistakes that much. :)

I'm always quite impressed with how well non-native speakers write. Honestly, you do better than many native speakers quite often.

Welcome to the forum.

Again, can't say thank you enough to those who have shared their adventures...Jim on Broadway, talk shows, Inside The Actors Studio, etc...this what just makes hiatus fun for me.

Welcome Bluestarlight...your English is wonderful, where are you from?...I so admire fans on this forum and others who tell us that English is not their native language, every single time I amazed by fans that are so expressive, while using a language that is secondary to them and have had a desire to learn and use English, which is (in my opinion) a very difficult language to learn..

I (pathetically), only speak a little New Yawk (from there), a little midwest (live there), a smattering of pig-latin, some ASL and a tiny bit of German and Spanish (thank you grandma and my son who is a teacher).   :)

thanks but believe it or not i am british just have special needs (i have disablities ) and i always struggled  with written english at school,i have been on  other forums online and have had people correcting me but thankfully most dont care

So, every couple of days or so, I go through the #anactofgod postings on IG, and I always wonder about a couple of things...

Why does Jim have those bodyguards? Does he feel threatened or has he been threatened in the past? Do you think it's his idea, or maybe someone else's idea (his agent, manager, the theater people, WB?)

Is it normal for stars on Broadway to have escorts like that?

What is it with the "Trees are stupid" quote that people often put in their hashtags?

In regard to the bodyguards, I remember going to an event with Patrick Stewart when he was still in STTNG. It was a small official fan club function and we had brunch together. At one point he went from table to table to speak to each of us, but he had a guy shadowing him. Good thing he did, because at one point the guy whispered something in his ear and Patrick quickly yanked the hem of his sweater down. Turns out his fly was open... :p

Phanta, there are a ton of one liners like that in the play.  Its great.  My keychain says "I AM GOD, if you want anything, you ask.....politely".  All the merch says the lines.

I was just wondering what was so funny about that line--it's obviously a joke about something--that people are quoting it so often.

I figured that, but I was wanting to know the context, etc.

He says that line when he's talking about the creation and says that plants are difficult to make, " especially trees". Then he just drops the topic and switch to something else :p

.. :shy: It's fantastic to see how much acceptance you all have towards non english speakers ( I'm a southern italian and even talking my own language can be pretty hard sometimes... ) and of course this is very encouraging for me... this is also a reason why I took all the courage to sign up in this forum... it's fantastic to see that mistakes count very little among people that share something together... and sadly this doesn't happen everywhere...

It's very senseless but I wanted to tell this :icon_redface::icon_redface::icon_redface::icon_cheesygrin:

It's all love and acceptance here in the Jim thread! That's because the man has our goofy juices flowing. (That sounds really gross, but yall know what I mean)

He has so many one liners it's hard to out some of it into context.

My mug says "I work in mysterious ways. When I even bother to show up for work."

I wanted a mug but when I went to buy one at my last show they were sold out and waiting for more stock. Just goes to show you should buy something the first time you see it.

I wondered about the bodyguard I didn't see anyone else with one just the security at the door at the shows I went to and the fans seem well behaved. Did he have one previously at other shows?  I think Darren Criss might have one as well.

Jim had a bodyguard/driver when he did Harvey also...

Don't know why though...

From the Harvey run in 2012...

Does he ever have a bodyguard when he's at functions in LA?  I think when he would do the LA  talk shows or functions, he would have his manager or someone like that with him, but I don't remember seeing anyone that looked like a bodyguard in LA.

Maybe because they know there's a waiting audience and they don't want things getting out of hand.  Dunno.

I wonder how Jim feels about it.  It doesn't seem to bother him, but I wonder how he feels--like a rock star? :p

Except for the plays, I've never seen pictures of him with with personal security, only security provided by the venue he is at (security guards, local police etc).  When he does talk shows and other events it seems that he is usually only accompanied by his publicist.

My guess would be that he is too darn nice for his own good and if he didn't have someone there to move him along at the AAOG stage door he would be out there all night posing for selfies and signing stuff for people  :icon_cheesygrin:

Theaters production companies are going to protect their primary talent.  Jim is the reason people show up to this play to be honest...so of course they are going to make sure he is well protected.   They provide the body guards, just like they did when he was in Harvey.   They need to make sure that their talent are healthy and in good shape because they loose a lot of money if something happens to their talent.

It's hot as hell in DC and he keeps coming out in a jacket and it makes me wonder if I should pack something.

I always travel with a jacket and an umbrella regardless of season or forcast on the assumption that if I bring them I won't need them (hopefully) but if I leave them at home I will :icon_biggrin:
