But prednisone also has some other nasty side effects. Both daughters took it for a few months for their crohns and colitis. Even at low dosages they got the moon face, weight gain, acne and one got hirsute which didn't go away until 6 months after she stopped. It's a nasty drug. I'm sure he's under a physicians care, but I'm hoping it's a different steroid.

I agree.  I have multiple auto-immune conditions and I use it as little as possible because it's so hard on the kidneys and liver, but it does help (me, anyways) in short doses.  I think I could easily abuse it because it makes me feel "normal" when I'm on it.  I too hope if it's this type of steroid, that it's being monitored.

There are all kinds of variations of steroids--I just took a "descending dose" run of steroids for some sciatica-like pain I've been having (since December!)  That was something like Methylprednisolone, which is a variation of predisone.

My doctor often gives me a single dose injection of a steroid if I've got some inflammation due to illness, but he doesn't like to do it too often because it can also raise your blood sugar, which is another issue I have.

I also took a round of steroids 2 years ago when I had my radiation treatments to combat some of the mild side effects I had.  It was also a descending dose and I was only on them for about 10 days or so, but the main thing I noticed (besides the energy boost) was terrible constipation.  I debated all the various laxatives, but in the end a little package of prunes proved very effective (and they were yummy, too!)

The minute he said "steroids" the first thing I thought of was blood sugar and constipation. :p

But I had been wondering how his voice was doing--and you could hear some of it in his conversation with DP.  I caught just a little of it before I had to leave for work (Jim always makes me late...)

:icon_biggrin: Wonderful interview! I love just watching and listening to him talk and there were far too many wonderful quotes in this one to remember all at once. But Jim is a very funny person with a slightly dirty mind which I love.

I like the dirty mind....

great interview....but I have to say he did appear more tired than usual (do I blame him, of course not...he's been non-stop for months now)

Rach, he talked about mostly AAOG, taking steroids to help get through it (and yes he did glow a bit after the mention of winning a Tony), spoke about BBT going on past season 10 (got a little awkward), Jim wouldn't want to do another almost one-man show again, a lot about basketball obviously, Dan's family & taking them to see Caberet (and Jim saying "boobies")....overall very sweet.

I just watched the Dan Patrick show and I think that was a very nice interview :)

Jim was handsome as always but his voice sounded a little different to me, like he had a cold or something...

His voice was definitely a bit croaky. Interesting comments about the play and audience reactions, not reading reviews, loves the play but that he wouldn't run to do a similar type of show again and not ruling out more Seasons of TBBT if offered.

I think he's a little hoarse from doing the show 8 nights a week. :)

His voice was cracking just a bit once or twice--like he usually does those higher pitched inflections and his voice cracked on one of them, for instance.  And he was croaking a bit here and there.

When DP was asking him about audience reaction, I was kind of hoping Jim would mention that one heckler someone mentioned.

I loved it when DP asked Jim if he was going to hell for playing God. :p

Really fun interview. I was cracking up at how Dan kept saying that Jim is the Lebron of TBBT and Jim kept rejecting it. That would imply that he's the star (which is true), but also that he has to do everything and the rest of the cast isn't pulling their weight or contributing that much. I'd say Jim is more like the star quarterback who wins the Heisman trophy (for non-sports people, that's the award for the best college football player in the country) every year. Your team is still excellent, but you win the big individual award at the end of the season.

Anyway, I always love these DP interviews. You can just tell that they enjoy joking around with each other and are really friends.

I wonder how easy or hard it will be for him to go from playing god to Sheldon in just over a week

I think it will be easy for him to slip back into playing Sheldon. He will prob enjoy being back with his BBT family after his "vacation on Broadway". It sounded like he missed working and interacting with a larger cast as it is basically just him as God for most of the show.

Loved the interview. He does look a bit tired and his voice is raspy. So happy he has not ruled out more Seasons of BBT.

Also one of the people he started following on IG is somewhat of a voice coach. I hope he never loses all of that Texas drawl!

1. I like how Jim looks comfortable and talks comfortably in The Dan Patrick Show, even with the sniffles and voice cracking. He doesn't look like he's in the show just because it's an obligation or just part of the his job. He looks tired but he's got that "oh what the heck, I'ma do this. I love this person (Dan)/show".

2. That awkward bit about foursome with Dan's wife is hilarious. Dan used to work at Sportscenter. Sporstcenter does a series of sports parody commercials called "This is Sportscenter" and they have lots of hilarious bits. When Jim mentioned he's taking steroids I remembered one This is Sportscenter commercial parodying pro athletes taking steroids.

3. Jim, I love you, but regarding Lebron James.... uhh one of the important keys to beat the Cavaliers is let Lebron shoot the lights off and not involve the rest of his team. Sorry, Mayim and I are cheering for Warriors.

4. An Act of God reminded me of a church billboard I saw, "Don't make Me come down there! - God".
