If no receiving a nomination this year means a nomination - and a win- a the Tonys next year... where do i sign?!?!!!!! lol

On on another note. Has he completely given up IG. Not even seeing him liking pics. I really miss last summer. Sigh!

I think this time he has creeped out at some of the comments there... yesterday i reported two of the same user that were just.. no. Offensive and the guy was on the verge of sexual harassment, really...

Unfortunately with a limited run, Tony nominations are early in the new year and his performance will be 4-6 months in the past and the nominators may forget. It's really helpful to be performing during the nomination season. Sent from my HTCONE using Tapatalk

I agree some of the comments and spamming, if you will, turned me off too. Some were so personal. In today's world you never know.  They were so intrusive.

Stunning results on the nominations front.  Stunned Jim was not at least nominated.   Stunned at all the snubs really.   And some of those that were nominated were completely in left field and not at all expected by anyone (not pundits, experts, etc.).  Happy for Mayim and Chirstine though! :icon_biggrin:

Maybe Emmy voters are trying to be more hip, or more like the Golden Globes--nominating all the shows on cable or streaming services that have an audience of 3 people...

I was scrolling through the lists of nominees in all the categories and a lot of the shows were things I'd never heard of or things on random channels or streaming services.

I'm sure Jim's not bothered by it--he's already got 4 and he'll be doing Big Bang for at least 2 more years, and I'm sure he is, as always, very happy for Mayim to get nominated, but it sure is strange that he's not even nominated or that the show isn't nominated.

I hope they do win some of the technical things they're nominated for, anyway.

i was thinking maybe it has to do with the fact that if Jim would have won, he'd have become the first to win 5 Emmys- i really don't know if there is an actor with 5 awards already. Perhaps that was a factor in all this. But that doesn't justify the snubbing... anyway like i said, i'm not really mad at it, specially because Jim got to shine in another thing this summer too. that adds to it ^^

As recently as his last Dan Patrick Show appearance, Jim said that you don't go into acting to win trophies.  He has also stated in the past that he always thinks that each award red carpet is his last.  I am sure that he is unfazed by the lack of his own nomination, but very happy for Mayim.

If I feel bad for anyone...it's me!  I'm going to miss all the Jim red carpet/ceremony pictures and interviews :crying:

No leading actor has ever won 5. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Maybe in the next two seasons he'll have some spectacular episode and they'll just have to nominate him and vote for him.  I want him to have 5 Emmys, just because. :)

My sense of why Parsons wasn't nominated this year is that the show became more ensemble oriented and less focused on him and his character. My TV screen  kept bouncing back and forth between all the couples and their story lines, with short bursts of group stories that were nothing more than a series of one-liners. Too shallow stories with limited depth and breadth. Good on Bialik though. She  at least is able to capture attention with her unique characterization of Amy. Not much has changed with Sheldon, despite all the suggestive attempts to move him forward. Eventually the slow as molasses pace was going to catch up to that role and the voters I think picked up on that.

I think the main reason for JP not being nominated was just the Emmy voters seeking for new faces. I'm not familiar with the voting rules, but if I understand well (if not, I apologize...) at this point the voters have just to make a bunch of names and only after the nominations they are "obliged" to see the submitted episodes...So it is likely, in my opinion, that after seven nominations in a row, they went for new names... I don't agree with them, of course, and I still think it's unfair, but it is reasonable is some way...That being said, I also think that, even if nominated, he got very few chances to get his fifth Emmy this year. This season for Sheldon character was not very comedy "oriented", he got a couple of funny episodes and he, as always, was really good in them (Anxiety Optimization, for example), but I don't think the material was enough to win a fifth Emmy (a record in this category...)  To win his fifth Emmy (I really think it will happen) he has to do something really out of the box, something really stunning, more than other actors need to do to win an Emmy, because he has to win over himself... Of course, I think the actor is more than capable of doing so, but he needs the right material, and I hope next season he'll get it.

Nevertheless, with an animated movie which earned more of 350 million dollars and a more than acclaimed play, this year was pretty good for Jim Parsons, and I'm sure the best is yet to come for him!!!

I totally agree with you! Probably they just wanted to give an opportunity to win to somebody else and to other shows... it's unfair, but I think that we know that his talent is incredible and he did great with everything he worked for this year, and not a single award can repay for this...

(But thinking at all the photos and videos that we won't get is pretty sad...)

Yes, I think Jim has had such an incredible year already so it's not the end of the world if he didn't happen to be nominated for an Emmy this time round. He's the star of a highly successful play on Broadway, he was a lead in an animated movie grossing over $350 million, and as much as we all like to criticise Season 8 on these forums, we got to see some of Jim's best acting yet (standouts for me are the car scene in 8x1 where he admits his fear of failing in front of Amy, the ILY scene in 'Prom', and of course, the final scene of the finale).

And anyway, there's always 2016...

I was shocked that he wasn't nominated! I mean, he's won 4 times, he won last year even, and this year not even nominated. It's bizarre, but like others have said, doesn't take away from his performance this year. For me personally, I loved him as Sheldon this season more than any other season, hands down. As The Mushroom Log pointed out, he's shown some of his best acting, but all with serious scenes. The admittance of not wanting to be seen as a failure to Amy, the ILY, the Christmas episode, and of course the finale. It might not have gotten him a nomination for best comedic actor, but I'd take these monumental steps in Sheldon's development and personal growth over a few scenes of him getting drunk or going on a big tirade any day. :p

I'm so happy for Mayim and Christine though!

Just watched trailer for Suicide Squad.. While I think Jared Leto as Joker rocks, I think Jim can also do a good,if not better than Leto's, job as a Joker for said film. My only gripe though is Jim's too gorgeous, I think he'll look gorgeous even with Joker makeup.
